My halfling warlock (9th level) got bitten by a wereboar and failed the saving throw. According to my DM, the full moon is coming soon...what happens?

From a RP perspective, any tips or ideas about how to play this out? I'm in an all evil party, and have played this character as kind of a pyro, sadist, almost beavis, definitively chaotic kinda guy.

From a mechanics/"roll playing" perspective, what happens to my character? What adjustments do I have to make?

thanks!

All you need to know about Lycanthropy is in the Monster Manual. If you do not have access to that, the System Reference Document (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=d20/article/srd35) is available online.

If you plan on remaining a wereboar, I suggest convincing your DM to allow you to use Savage Progressions (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/arch/sp)' Template Classes for the wereboar (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/sp/20031010a).

Until the next dawn, your character will behave in a neutrally aligned manner. From then on, under a full moon, or when damaged durring combat, you will feel an overwhelming rage building up and transform into a mindless beast - one that is far less evil and more sane than your character, apparently.

Your character will remember nothing of this, nor of any subsequent episode, unless you succeed at a wisdom check (DC 15). If you succeed at one of these checks, your character is then 'aware' of the condition. (Just being told about it does not do the trick, your character have to remember what happened while shifted through force of will alone.)

Once your character is aware he can attempt to resist an involuntary change using a Control Shape skill check. However, you will no longer loose control of your character's actions if you fail to resist the shift, and he can act as insane as you wish.

You can also attempt to use the Control Shape skill to voluntarily assume boar form. Note that your DM may wish to enforce the ruling that this immediately and permanantly changes your alignment to true neutral. Your character would have to become sane and coherent.

Talk to your DM about lycanthropy alignment. Technically it is supposed to be a disease that affects your mindset, throwing you true neutral.

My DM has ruled that alignment doesn't matter, and the change is only bodily, if you can make a successful will save. Your DM can make up the will save if he wants.

Hmmm... it'd be an interesting thing to RP, though. The alignment change, I mean.

Here you have a guy who's CE, sadistic, cruel... whatever. Then suddenly he gets this disease which forces him to see the value of living life just for its own sake rather than for the sake of (insert whatever your character values here--probably mayhem). He takes on the personality of the boar, essentially; an animal that doesn't mind if it's left well enough alone, but will lash out and kill you if you goad it.

How your character transforms could be a fascinating thing to role-play: What aspects of his personality does he keep after he loses his Chaotic and Evil tendencies; and what does he lose? What does he gain? How does the new affinity for his animal form affect him?

And yep--Savage Progressions smoothes things out a lot.

The thing I wonder, though... with a lycanthrope, can you change alignment away from whatever the animal form forced you to change to, after the initial change? For example: Maybe your character transforms to True Neutral; but he misses the sheer power and freedom he had when he was CE... so he starts drifting back over that way. Does the disease allow him to do it?

(Ask that of your DM... just in case.)

Also: Consider getting the lycanthropy removed: It can be dangerous to fellow party members, especially if you don't have a druid (who, I believe, can calm your animal form, talk to it, et cetera).

First, stop eating pork.

Become "more in tune with nature". Start, as the moon waxes, to be more protective of your party members. Start having cravings for acorns and truffles.

Play up a growing paranoia about fire.

ROFL  ! Seriously I've pretty much been beaten to it, maybe you might even do a couple (not to many or you'll muck up your alignment even further) of Good/lawful acts to 'atone' for you previous acts but check with your DM what his views would be, he may just want you to make a clean break i.e. neutral as from now on and you may end up experiencing an alignment yoyo effect.

While the alignment change would be righteous fun to play, Gordo, you do have to consider that Warlock is an alignment restricted class. Becoming true neutral would mean breaking the pact with the dark source and saying bye bye to that ripper eldritch blast ability.

Mmmm.... that is if your DM remains strictly core. As Super Guy suggests, negotiate with your DM. Savage Species, for instance, contains an optional rule; that alignment changes from lycanthropy and such effects might be resisted by a Will save.

Wanna keep your PrC... get it removed, ASAP. Shouldn't be too hard, right?

Maybe you should ask your Dm what he/she thinks. Personally, I think it would be fun to switch between true neutral and CE.

Get your hands on an item that gives regeneration.

The party will never lack boar burgers again.

Oh, yeah, like an Evil person is gonna let his fellow party members cut him up for food...
