Questgiver kept calling us peasants and my character demanded satisfaction, which ticked off the DM. He's had the party abandon my character.

Is it wrong for my character to want to smack the guy for being a jerk or telling his lordship what he can do with his citizenship and then leave the country?

And when a member of the party tries to come back for me, he makes up some excuse why they can't, even telling them what they think.

Id want to hear his side of the story first. But im inclined towards this being a bit of an overreaction.

questgiver? also what does the rest of the group think of this, why arent they all in trouble, was it just you being the bad boy?

The DM started yelling at another player who then left and then the DM ended the game

I wonder how much it'd have ticked off the DM if I posted a sign in front saying:
"The lord of this castle challenges all men of battle to a contest of arms."

maybe hes having a bad day?

or maybe he should be writing a book doesnt sound like hes factoring in ur opinions at all. Or maybe hes dming the wrong group and you guys have different ideas about what you want.

but if thats happening, unless hes having an off day, id consider dming myself, or finding another group.

You really should try to find some sort of mutual agreement. You both (you and the DM) need to calmly discuss the reasons as to why you're angry and see what can be done that both parties can agree on.
Also ask yourself "Why is my DM ticked off with what I've done?" This isn't to say you're to blame, just that you should try to look at it from their side. This way, perhaps you can try to save the campaign for everyone.

Abandoning you should be the partys choice not the DMs, unless he has kicked you out of the game.

Wanting to smack him for calling you a peasant?? Not wrong, but did you have any social status?? Or are your charecters peasants and just dont like it.

Telling him what he can do with citizenship?? Yes, in a game where he has the power to do massive harm to people for mouthing off to him, yes it is a very bad idea. Do it in my game, make a new charecter as you are dead or imprisoned for longer than the adventure lasts. But I would be sure you where aware of that first. In a fuedal setting, it is a major crime to mouth off to a noble, unless you are one yourself.

As for somebody comeing back, thats railroad DMing, never a good thing.

Is this a new group?? Sounds like you are all just learning to RP, and are hitting some snags. Not a big thing, this stuff happens. But you are letting things get out of hand. It is not fun to ride the railroad, but it is hard on a new DM to change things on the fly. Are you friends out of game?? If so, cut each other some slack. If not, probably to late already. Find a new group.

Now if you are a veteren group, then you all need to go your own ways, as you just dont have it yet.

Sounds like a bad DM on many counts, but I'd try reasoning with him first. Try explaining to him that he does not get to decide what the players do or think, and that he can't just tell them they don't want to come back for you. Do not do this in a confrontational way. The key is to be reasonable, adult.

Whoa! The game ended? I may be misinterpreting this, but it sounds like the party didn't conform to the DM (who may or may not be a vicious railroader. Let's give him the benefit of the doubt), so he ended the game and kicked one player out?

Heck, if this is the case there seems to be nothing to salvage! Otherwise, what I'd do is email/talk/IM/call/communicate with the DM and tell him you're sorry. NOTE: I'm not saying you are wrong, just that you should pacify the DM. Then, like Comus said, be rational.

I may be wrong, but it sounds like you've a temperamental DM here. I think Daydreamer suggested this, but if the DM is really annoyed, the best bet might be offering to DM yourself until things calm down. (Be warned! I did this about a year ago for one group and I'm still in the big chair.)
