I knew you'd say that... [Archive] - Wizards Community

07-23-06, 01:55 PM Ok I have a CN (With good tendancies) Drow Rogue 2/Diviner (Ex-Necro) 1. I am going to make him a rogue 5/Wizard 5 Arcane Trickster 10 for a reason.

His story so far is that he stole the Drow Archmage's spellbook which contains all spells but the necromancy, evocation, and the conjuration that deal hitpoint damage directly. He is on outcast, rebel, and has a bounty on his head (but it is not commonly known because no drow wizard is willing to admit he beat them all). From that time he has met a dwarven warrior mechanic, who is cast out of his family for not abiding to tradition of gladiatorial fighting, and the two of them bought an airship to travel with. One day the rogue miscalculated a landing and ended up killing most of the crew but the dwarf and himself. Now they are looking for a new crew and enough money to buy another vessel.

I have all the directly non-lethal spells at a cost of never being able to speak to another drow (well its not really all that big of a downside :P ). Plus I gave a partial backstory to a character anyone else can play if they want to join in (6 characters, 5 players).

My problem is I need a list of all-knowing smartassery a mile long to keep roleplaying this guy, and I was wondering if you could provide snippets of hilarity for when my wit fails me. Of course, his catch phrase is a well timed "I knew you'd say that".

I don't think you want to make him a running joke by saying "I knew that", rather just nod in acknowledgement and smile at the unexpected.

07-23-06, 07:49 PM i highly recommend you watch "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas", "Trainspotting", "Lock, Stock, & Two Smoking Barrels", "The Princess Bride", "Dogma", "Goonies", and all the Batman Beyond you can get your hands on.

that'll make you lose your mind, and then you can play a surface drow arcane trickster running from his entire race of murderous psychopaths.

07-24-06, 08:52 PM Good ideas Hamster, and N.aL. I will include the noding of the understanding variety at odd and unexpected occurances, but useing the catch-phrase to follow a statement from time to time will be more handy methinks.
