| Lag_Master01-04-06, 11:56 PM | Me and my brothers were looking for a cool rpg and found D&D :D . But we bought the 3.0 edition(cuase we're cheap :P ) and i heard the 3.5 ver. is way better 4 n00bs i'm starting to get D&D but i'm thinking it would be easier to get the 3.5 version so i'm asking if i could just get away with the 3.0 or should i get the 3.5 of the player handbook? |

The only major things the System Reference Documents don't have are certain monsters and the experience tables, but you should already have those in your books. Have fun. |

You might want somebody to have the 3.5 PHB, especially if one of you plans on playing a ranger (they got a drastic improvement), but otherwise, most of the classes just got minor changes, although they did add a few feats, change some spells, and merge a few skills into other skills. However, it should have a pretty minimal affect on your gameplay you should be able to play just fine and happily without it. Or you might look stuff up from the SRD as Centauri says. I personally prefer the one at d20srd.org. However, I would recommend that whoever DMs gets the 3.5 Monster Manual. In my experiance, they did a much better job at balancing them in the revision. The DMG your party can probably hold off on getting. Yes, they did change the way they do Xp, but it is a pretty minor change and isn't likely to affect your party unless your levels become disparate. The only other thing you're likely to notice is that some of the magic item abilities or costs have been changed, or at least until you get up to the point where you want to go planehopping or making monstrous characters, which you shouldn't do until you get more experience playing. |
