I was wondering if I was doing this character correct this is what I have so far. How I did the Armor class was 10 + armor class + sheild bonus + dex modifier + size modifier. And how I did the skills was Ability modifier + rank skill + misc modifier. I need someone to tell me if I doing this right cause I am lost.

skills look wrong. It would help if there was a character sheet or if you could possibly put it into a table.

Looks like you are shorting yourself 4 skill points. I total up 36 being assigned. Also, it does not look like you gave yourself the armor check penalty of -1 to balance, climb, escape artist, hide, jump, move silently, slight of hand, and tumble.

I think you've got everything right except AC (which is 16, not 17) and skills. I'm having a lot of trouble reading them, and cannot be sure I'm interpreting skills right.

The format for your skill listing is Total = Ability modifier + ranks + misc. Is that right?

It looks to me as if you have taken your skillpoints and tried to spread them out so you get ranks in every skill. This is a bad idea quite frankly.

Secondly, you have put one rank in one perform skill? You do realise that you have to take ranks in Perform skills separately? That is, Perform (Singing), Perform (Percussion), Perform (Wind Instruments) and Perform (Recite Poetry) are all different skills? While we are on the subject of skill ranks in Perform, you need a minimum of three ranks in at least one skill to use the simplest Bardic Music ability. Your policy of skillpoint distribution has already hamstrung your bard.

Craft is not one skill either. You have to take ranks in each type of thing you want to Craft. So, what is it?

Thirdly, why do you have a -1 miscellaneous modifier to Bluff?

Go back and redo the skills. Use them to focus more tightly on a group of skills that define what the character can do. I would suggest the following.

Four ranks in at least two Perform skills. Performing is a vital skill for the Bard class; without at least one you can't access Bardic Music.
Four ranks in Use Magic Device. It's part and parcel of the Bard class that he can do almost anything, and access to other classes magical tools will certainly aid that.
Four ranks in Tumble. Tumble is the main get-out-of-Dodge skill for people with little fighting skill.

Of the rest, maximise three or four skills that suit your character concept and spread the remaining points around skills that require ranks in to use. And don't forget, Bard is the only PHB class that can learn a language for one skill point; it's their class skill. You may want to pick up a few languages. (Indeed being able to speak to anything may have significant long-term benefits. Might be a fun focus for your character.)

Have fun playing him.

Hmm, a bard for a first character? Well, I wouldn't really recommend it--they're sort of jacks-of-all-trades, which means they really don't do anything well, but they can take a crack at just about anything. As a bard, you can function best as a backup healer, diplomat, backup spellcaster, backup fighter (flank with the rogue, for example), and just plain backup (with your bardic music). It will give you a taste of just about everything. Do Bards have Cure Minor Wounds in their spell list? If so, I'd suggest you pick that up; it's a very handy spell to stabilize someone who's gone into negative HP.

[EDIT]I was wrong about Cure Minor Wounds being on a bard's spell list--which is weird, because Cure Light wounds is. Go figure. Well, in that case, Mage Hand is a great Level 0 utility spell--wonderful for getting the keys to your prison cell off the hook across the room, pinching the barmaid's rear just as she passes the paladin, or levitating something to catch someone's attention (as a distraction) while you make yourself scarce.

Oh, yeah, a tip--Never underestimate:
Prestidigitation
a good Diplomacy check
the value of Bardic Music
and having friends in the right places.

Good luck!

Fighter! Duh! You can watch others have everything bounce off your awesome AC and then cruch them with a great martial weopen. Then once you see how the others use their talents when somehow your fighter falls you can pick a class that you think you might enjoy. Or maybe if you liked it enough try a monk or Paladin or a barbarian.
