We are trying that campaign challenge with lower powered PC's to see which DM can keep their PC's alive. We used the low powered points buy system and my PC's bites I really need a plus to str or dex but don't like to have minuses on abilities so i have 10s on everything but wis-13. What I need is a races that has pluses and thats it. He wants us to start at 1st level and no races with a level adj on it. I was think about cat folk but it has +1. We can also be a monster class but I was going to be the healer and if I am a monster class no healer. so can anybody help.

Fifteen point buy. Wow. That's.... special. Anyway, don't worry about it. The DM's stated purpose is to keep you alive, so you'll probably face... what's appropriate... level one kobold commoners with advanced Filth Fever?

wish i could help...

best idea i got is going dwarf for a con bonus. It bites your cha, which kinda hurts for a cleric, but ...

meh,
good luck either way.

What level are you starting at?

The best plus to Str and Dex is to be a Druid. You can be a healing/summoning Druid. Prepare mostly healing spells and if you find that you've got too many of them, just spontaneously cast Summon Nature's Ally.

Seriously though, Druids pwn!

For class...be an anthropomorphic bat. I can't remember what their stats are or what book they're out of right now, can someone help me out?

It's in savage species and the -4str would kill her! We have decided to use monster classes instead of LA. ( if helps) 1st level

The thing is the DM is my husband and he knows how to make even a kobald commoner challenging and he knows me well enough to know that I won't run from anything no matter how small i am.

I have chosen a cat folk mystic and to cover the +1 level adjustment he told me that when i went to second that i wouldn't gain any of the benefits but would get the rest of races abilities. (+2 str and +1 na) I hope I can survive and I will tell you about the kobald commoner.

they need a str boost? suggest half orc.

dex boost, point them to gnome/halfling? one of them gets a dex boost.

or druid. because then you get to play a bear, which has lots of str.

I plan on a wand of bull's str. there are ways around not haveing str and she won't take a -x on her for some reason. ( she is usely a human or half elf)

I found a way to make it challenging too - give the players 15 point buy.

So you don't think a kobold can be a challenge? ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! We always play high powered games. And this is a test for the DM's not the players, and I would also like to point out that in the other post in the campaign treads points out my monster list I'm going to use. ( you have to use CR1 or more.) If your right then you can check it out in a few day and see if the death count raises. Your always welcome to try your self.

This is stupid, all the DM would need to do is not have any fights, no police, no guards, in a world of pacifists. What's the challenge in that?

If that the way you want to take it then you can run a role playing game where you use skill checks most of they time and maybe one fight a game. Just to say it is not possible with out trying is just not right. (to me)

It is the only races she could find with one hit die and + 1 LA with no minuses. If it is going to work with no str then it's going to be spell casters game where none of that matters. If you can think of one that has pluses to str please post it for her we are starting tomorrow.

She has a 12 str I don't, but plan on buffs and will be at ranged and using weapons that don't require str to use. AKA heavy crossbow. My wand will come 1st but then I'll put flaming on it.

She needs some help on future plans ( the next 6 levels). She says she wants to stay mystic for a while. I thought maybe bar for the rage. she said may be that or fighter. she keeps most spells for healing so we need BABs or feats that give it. If it helps she took the Domain that gives weapon focus and weapon prof. and she chose the one with great sword.

humans? i mean they have no racial penalties -and they get a bonus feat and skill points.
dwarfs would be good-gnomes for hp. etc.

It shouldnt be any tougher to survive, the dm should throw weaker opponents at you. My dm runs too games, 1 very high powered, the other very low powered. Pcs have about the same survival ratio in both games.

Start with a Warforged (Monster Manual 3); LA+0
Add the Phrenic Template (Expanded Psionics Handbook); LA+2
Add the Incarnate Construct Template (Savage Species); LA-2

End result: Incarnate Phrenic Warforged; Humanoid (Psionic)
Con +2, Int +2, Cha +2
You lose the Phrenic Power Point Reserve, and its Power Resistance, but you get a long list of psionic abilities that progress with you.

There you go, LA +0, no racial HD, no ability penalties, three ability bonuses. Perfect, no?
