| Thoom01-10-07, 12:01 PM | Dm running a adventure, says we can start lvl 6. Lvl adjustment ok. We get $$ equvilant to a 6th lvl char. Prestige classes are allowed. I want something that can deal massive damage at a distance, I know wizard or sorcerer comes to mind, but was hoping for something different. I wish the Warlock could dish out more damage. Thank you for the help :D |
| Nightbluejh01-10-07, 01:05 PM | The Warmage is an artillary cannon. It's basically a wizard that only uses damage dealing spells and is an immediate caster so he doesn't have to memorize what damage spells will be good for what battles. I would say this is the best class for damage dealing from a distance. |
| starfire31101-10-07, 01:35 PM | IMO archer would be the way to go... there are probably many archer builds on the CO boards that can help you, but for dishing out damage at range, archer is the best IMO. |
| GaffeR01-10-07, 02:40 PM | I like Kineticist, myself. |
| Ryu Katsuragi01-10-07, 03:14 PM | I like Kineticist, myself. Seconded. But I'd suggest the Ardent (Complete Psionic). Less powers, but by taking the Energy mantle, you already get their best abilities. Better skill list, better HP, three-quarter BAB. Ardent also allows you to do something -other- than blast, such as save-or-dies (which as I've noticed, become a bigger thing at higher levels). Ardent/Psion + Energy Specialization (Fire or Cold) (I think the feat was) + Overchannel + Talented. Congratulations. At level twenty, you're manifesting energy ray (for example) at 23d6+46. |
| Grod_The_Giant01-10-07, 03:27 PM | be a warmage and look at this (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=463783) |
| Thoom01-14-07, 11:39 AM | OK after talking to DM he suggested a warlock but look to Dragon magic for invocations? What builds would you make if you had 7 lvls to play with? |
| Voldar_Mecorthio01-14-07, 01:07 PM | If all you want is damage potential, warlock or warmage is the way to go. Kinetisist is also a valid option, and can do stuff besides blast (which the war duo can't) |
| kelvinaw27301-14-07, 04:13 PM | Wilder would work well for really dishing it out. Sorcerers make excelent blasters - probably the best overall. |
| Hack and Smasher01-14-07, 04:24 PM | I second for blasting take a wilder. In terms of pure nuking nothing does it as well, just take extra power alot for anything you really want. Also aviod sorcerer you can do way better. |
| Armoracia Rusticana01-14-07, 06:23 PM | Sorcerer with PHB II variant (metamagic mastery) arcane thesis, scorching ray, empower, blistering. |
| Qube01-15-07, 09:13 AM | something psionic: with the Overchannel/Talented feats you can make attacks that do higher damage then a wiz energy ray: Energy Ray Psychokinesis [see text] Level: Psion/wilder 1 Display: Auditory Manifesting Time: 1 standard action Range: Close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels) Effect: Ray Duration: Instantaneous Saving Throw: None Power Resistance: Yes Power Points: 1 Upon manifesting this power, you choose cold, electricity, fire, or sonic. You create a ray of energy of the chosen type that shoots forth from your fingertip and strikes a target within range, dealing 1d6 points of damage, if you succeed on a ranged touch attack with the ray. Cold A ray of this energy type deals +1 point of damage per die. Electricity Manifesting a ray of this energy type provides a +3 bonus on your attack roll if the target is wearing metal armor and a +2 bonus on manifester level checks for the purpose of overcoming power resistance. Fire A ray of this energy type deals +1 point of damage per die. Sonic A ray of this energy type deals -1 point of damage per die and ignores an object’s hardness. This power’s subtype is the same as the type of energy you manifest. Augment For every additional power point you spend, this power’s damage increases by one die (d6). so were the wizard is stuck with Xd6 spells, you deal (X+1)d6+X+1 damage <X being the casterlevel> |
