The point is that the race (theoretically) has enough advantages to compensate for that fragility.
Milandros 12-28-05, 07:33 PM	You will indeed have only one class level. That's the price you pay for having such an exceptionally powerful set of abilities given by the template. In general, tamplated characters are less powerful than the equivalent all class level characters. Consider a level 10 cleric against a level 4 vampire mage. Templates can be great for roleplaying puposes, but if you are taking them in order to get amazing powers and abilities rather than as part of a character concept, then you are likely to be disappointed.

Str+6, Con+10, Int+4, Wis+4 Type: Outsider(Native) Bonus Feats: Craft Magic Arms and Armor, craft Wondous Item, Forge Ring +8 on craft +4 on use magic device Alternate Form(Su): turn in to one specific small animal. Curse(Su): 1/year bestow curse LA +4 It does sound a little underpowered compared to a pixie, which is also LA+4. I think you could make a case for it being LA+3, but from reading the entry it seems more, like it's not realy supposed to be a player race in the first place, as it doesn't write down the above details, like WotC does for most of the "X race as player character". I would suggest playing something else.
humantoilet 12-28-05, 08:52 PM	from what i read they can create any magic item from those 3 feats regardless of the requirements even if they can't cast the needed spells. that I believe is fairly powerful, my only gripe with the +X LA things is the lack of hit points.
Varia 12-29-05, 03:25 AM	You wont lack hp for long- that +10 con is an extra 5 hp per level over anyone else on average, so you'll catch up. You'll be up with everyone else for hp in about 4 levels time. The extra strength will make up for most of the BAB you lose for the levels, or more than make up for it if youre not a warrior class. *Hugs* Varia
