I need some helpful insight for the campaign me and my group had just started in. We started as 1st lvl experts. I want to be a scout i'm a human btw. My other party members also started as experts ones half-elf and not sure what she wants to do with her character, and a halfling who wants to be a rogue and we are getting a spell chucker added to the group in the next adventure since he couldn't make it to the first day of this game. Our first encounter with our three characters were two werewolves in wolf form and we each got bitten. The half elf tried making a knowledge of nature check to find a cure for the disease. she rolled a 1. So she found some weeds that supposedly cure it and we moved on. So basically we reach enough exp. to go up a lvl and we have the choice to go up a lvl in our intended classes or a lvl in werewolf where we get wolf form and control shape skill. We all took the werewolf lvl so that the DM wouldn't be able to control what we do in when we change. So basically this whole story is leading to the question of how am I to continue the my character theme of being the ranged combatant with these new "complications" of being a lycanthrope. I would like some insight on what you guys would do with this situation or how to try and develop my character.

Some more info is that we are good characters and the DM is getting resources for the werewolf stuff from a book called Slaves of the Moon if anyone is familiar with it.

Thanks for any help and ideas, I'm open for tons of options so state anything that might be helpful or relevant.

If you are going to take the scout class well... skirmish apllies to melee too
If you only want to shoot stuf with your arrows... well you'll have to spend a whole lot time in hybrid form instead of animal form

Re read control shape entry because I don't think you understand it right. there are a set of times give when you have to roll or shaft mindlessly in those forms. It might help to know what they are. Always put a rank on it too.

If you're that low-level, and the game hasn't been going on for too long yet, I would suggest not marrying yourself to an idea of what class you want to be. In all my games where I PC, I'll pick a starting class, but I'll change my vocation if stuff happens in-game to make me do so. I encourage this when I DM as well. In one game where I was a PC, I was a changeling rogue. I had been training to become an assassin when I was visited in a dream by a Pit Lord that was apparently responsible for my existence. He was pretty awesome, and I was inspired by his (even distant) influence on my life. As such, I abandoned the path of the assassin and started doing more demon-related stuff, eventually becoming an Ur-Priest and devoting myself to stealing divine power in his name.

Not exactly the assassin I had thought I'd play, but that's what happens. Lot's of people go to school for math, but some of those people discover the joy of piano in their first semester and switch their major to music education. If I was training to be a Scout and suddenly discovered that to my horror I had irrevocably become a Werewolf, how would that affect me as a person? Maybe my newfound connection to the natural world blends well with my already-existing skills, and I become a Ranger instead, focusing on melee with claws instead of a bow, becoming a badass hunter of the night. Maybe I want to keep others from sharing my curse, so I take Favored Enemy: Shapeshifter as well (or whatever type Werewolves are). Or maybe the terrible changes wracking my body drive me mad with savagery, and I am forced to abandon all pretense of civilization - after all, how can I live in human cities knowing what I truly am? Instead, I am forced to the edges of the known lands, becoming a Barbarian, surviving on my wits.

The point is, don't force something that isn't occurring naturally in the game. There will be dozens of opportunities in your roleplaying career to play a Scout. There might not be nearly so many opportunities to play a cool Werewolf in an awesome story. Take it and run with it.

Hope this helps!

I'm confusioned alittle bit. Are you wanting to be the class scout or turning the expert into a scout?
