Have you tried looking for it on ebay or amazon? Basically the disk was a preview of the 3.0 Core Rules for the PC

I'm just as puzzled, anyway I would think that you need to buy the book as it is in the back of it.

My CD was a trial copy of the (PC) character generator...I detested it and promptly lost my CD.

well i bought the book used.

i guess i shouldnt say i NEED the cd, mor as i want the cd.

i tried ebay and couldnt find a thing, i dont even know what the title is.

but i was hoping it was a generator, that would make things alot easyer.
but if it has nothing more than that it is prolly not worth my time.

no it's not worth it...it's really better to just write it out on to a sheet anyway, as pencil can be erased far easier than the ink used in printing the character sheets...plus there was no way to import content, such as new feats, items, etc....so it's pretty useless nowadays

You might also look up PCgen, it is a free Java-based character generation program that implements the SRDs.

You can find better generators online than the one in the CD at the back of the book.

It was basically just a demo for this application called Master Tools, which was supposed to do a whole lot of stuff. All of the good features (like mapping) dropped out as it neared the release date, until only the character generator was pretty much left. Not sure whether it was actually released or not, but general concensus is that much better free software tools exist.

It changed into eTools, which is a piece of garbage. I loved that demo; the interface was sooo awesome.

If eTools had turned out like that demo...

E-Tools isn't too bad now that Code Monkey Publishing has fixed it. However, it is essentially a new program, not an update for the coaster that fluidics gave us.

The CD was a character generator made by Fluid Entertainment. It had no capabilities beyond 1st level, PH-only, characters and even beyond that limitation its biggest problem was that it was ungodly slow to print and there was no preview of what WOULD be printed. It was perhaps a good stopgap and was intended as something of a demo anyway. You got it free with the PH so how much could you REALLY complain? The intent was for it to be developed into a much better product anyway.

This then took place and to my knowledge was killed for more than one very good reason. The original code in the demo was rushed IIRC and was scrapped entirely. The new software (to be called "Master Tools") was envisioned as being able to do it all. As I recall it was widely touted as being nothing short of the final and total marriage of D&D and computers. You'd be able to create characters, encounters, treasure, race templates, magic items, add home rules of all kinds, create maps, track campaign information, display 3-D characters and monsters, run games online... EVERYTHING. It failed to achieve these outrageous goals.

The project was then drastically scaled back (given more realistic and acheivable goals) renamed Etools, and released to less than thunderous applause due to bugs and such. Code Monkey Publishing later took over the care and feeding of Etools with demonstrable improvements, but nothing like the be-all/end-all it started out to be.

It IS still available free from Fluid here:
