| Traevelix04-19-05, 09:18 PM | Guys I wanna make a fighter that can drop even the greatest of foes... heres what I got as stats str 16, dex 18, con 17, int 16, wis 17, cha 15 any ideas on what I can do... I kinda watched troy the other day... sheesh.... |
| fallabel04-19-05, 09:22 PM | Did you roll those stats, or pick them? Looks like you picked them, to me. |
| Kikoskia04-19-05, 09:26 PM | How about you don't be a fighter and instead be a bard? |
| Traevelix04-19-05, 09:27 PM | Did you roll those stats, or pick them? Looks like you picked them, to me. We're kinda involved in a high powered campaign. |
| Kikoskia04-19-05, 09:29 PM | With those kind of stats, you'd make a far better bard. |
| crazymonkdude04-19-05, 11:52 PM | Or a monk. (come on, be honest, you PICKED them didn't you?) The odds of successfully rolling all that without loaded...um, okay now I understand. wink, wink, nudge, nudge... Seriously, with those stats you would be better off as a monk or paladin or bard (all three of these classes require at least three good stats). What did you mean, you just watched Troy? Are you looking for a Achilles or Hector build? 'Cause either one of those will take you into high level play (either one was at least around 14th level) |
| Draco Strang04-19-05, 11:56 PM | Shoot this post right over to the Character Optimization boards...you'll have a dozen sick builds within 6 hours, I guarentee you. My advice? Be a monk. Seriously...with stats like that, you'll rock out. If you had say, 18 str. 18 con, and the rest 12s and 13s, I'd recommend a fighter...but with all those great stats, there are so many more doors open to you. |
| HypnoticMonk04-20-05, 12:38 AM | ::: kicks back and enjoys all the love the Monk class is getting here ::: |
| UltimateReality04-20-05, 12:46 AM | heres what I got as stats str 16, dex 18, con 17, int 16, wis 17, cha 15 any ideas on what I can do... ANYTHING YOU WANT. Um. Yeah. Stats like that make me  with envy. And I've played high-powered campaigns before...the DM's like, "hey, have 84 freestyle point buy"....and I'm like "ooh why thank you, here comes a Wizard with Str 10, Dex 18, Con 18, Int 18, Wis 10, Cha 10. :tiphat:" Or like TPK did: "hello, Fochlucan Lyrist of DOOM! :evillaugh " The CO boards are a good place to start -- just wind through the various threads and sort of compile the ideas and builds that everyone has. The builds are kind of like recipes: a good starting point, and it gives you an idea of what usually goes into the mix, but you still need to apply your tastes to it. |
| chocobochicken04-20-05, 12:27 PM | We've been having a good conversation on another thread about armor spikes. Per the FAQ, you could actually swing a two-handed weapon and make off-hand attacks with your armor spikes. So a greatsword and spiked armor with two-weapon fighting, weapon focus/specialization (greatsword), power attack, etc. could do pretty well with your stats if you're looking at sticking to the fighter class. And I hope you didn't pick those stats. What would make a fighter choose Wisdom over Strength? :P |
| Wil Harvey04-20-05, 12:37 PM | I love how the original poster comments on how he wants to make a fighter, asking for suggestions on what type of fighter to make, and a half-dozen replies come in telling him to be a different class. Traevelix, with those stats, you can be any type of fighter you want and you will be effective. Just figure out what you would have fun playing and go for it. |
| GaffeR04-21-05, 03:43 AM | Might i suggest guisarme and armor spikes? :D Tripping, spring attacking, power attacking, standstilling, hold the line-ing goodness. |
| Ut-Napishtim04-21-05, 04:15 AM | I'm a big fan of the Combat Expertise route myself. I'm guessing your DM is allowing CW so you can take Improved Combat Expertise as well. At high levels that can make you nigh-impossible to hit with your 18 Dex. Take a heavy flail with Improved Disarm and maybe Improved Trip and swing it two-handed. Throw in Power Attack on that and you can really do some damage. Close Quarters Fighting is good too - lot's of monsters have scary grapple bonuses, and giving 'em a good whack to keep them at bay is just what the doctor ordered! |
| Black Kitten04-21-05, 04:50 AM | Ha, indeed. You can be ANYTHING with that, including a great fighter. Try anything sick combo you can think off! I personally still think back with a heartattack that I needed to put a 12 in my fighter's con score to put a 14 in INT I believe for some sick feats. I now have a Dual Bastardsword Wielding Fighter and she rocks. Still have loads of feats to go and she's doing some awesmoe damage. You do need the feat from the CAdventurer (forgot name) that you can wield two 1-Handed weapons without special penalty. |
| hiroshimahamster04-22-05, 05:13 AM | :mymy: heres what I got as stats str 16, dex 18, con 17, int 16, wis 17, cha 15 Uh-uh... 'Fraid to say that they DO look picked to me... But then again, most would say this character's stats were picked out of thin air, but I have witnesses to prove they are real: str 12, dex 20, con 17, int 19, wis 17, cha 17 she is a halfing evoker 6/rogue 1 after all... She's also quite scary... Fireball, anyone? :mage: Why be a fighter? With stats like that, a fighter would be too bright. If I were you, I would swap your wisdom with your strength if you want to be one. Unless, of course, you want to be an archer... Your dex is very high and it would go well. A better class would be monk, with a wisdom of 17. Are you intending to be a magic user? A druid, cleric or mystic would go pretty well too. They are not too bad in combat, and get the bonus side of magic. Tell me off for promoting magic if you will, but I am a magic user though and though. :mage: |
| VerinBlod04-22-05, 08:44 AM | Or play a chameleon with stats like that. You can be anything you want. Fighter today, cleric or wizard tomorrow :D |
| Earl Power04-22-05, 09:38 AM | Did you roll those stats, or pick them? Looks like you picked them, to me. does it matter?? why post if you arent going to help him?? |
| Traevelix04-23-05, 07:46 AM | thanks guys for helping i'm considering the two handed weapon with the armor spikes.... thanks a lot... those stats are already adjusted were in a epic campaign so those stats (again) have +4 inherent bonuses thanks for helping :P |
| Father Dale04-23-05, 02:10 PM | Can you take a non-PHB race, even one with a LA? Either go with anything that has reach, or that has a secondary natural attack that can be used even if your hands are both occupied (such as a minotaur's horns). Use a guisarme or spiked chain. Take Combat Reflexes, Combat Expertise, Improved Trip, and Mage Slayer. Make mages cry as you trip them and stand over top of them and prevent them from casting defensively. |
