| BloodDragon09-13-07, 01:50 PM | How does possession (Specifically from the Magic Jar spell) work exactly? If Player-A uses Magic-Jar on Player-B (who fails his checks) does Player-B simply hand over all of his character sheets to P-A, which can be used as he pleases? If Player-A is a spell-caster (More then likely) can he still use his spells? Can he still use other abilities granted from other classes (Such as Monk or Paladin)? Or is Possession handled much like polymorph where the player obtain new physical ability score + Ex abilities, but keeps his mental scores or mental abilities? In short… how does possession work (Magic Jar version)? |
| Prator_the_Legendary09-13-07, 01:57 PM | The possessed body retains all its physical stats, but now has the mental stats and class abilities of the thing that possessed it. Natural abilities it has (like the ability to breath fire, fly, or use spell-like abilities) are under the control of the possessor, but it does not gain any natural powers it did not previously have. For example: A Half-dragon wizard taking over a Dwarven Swordsage's body will still be able to cast spells, but will not be able to use martial manuevers. He will be able to use stonecunning, but not a breath attack. The wizard has all of the dwarf's physical stats but retains his normal intelligence, wisdom, and charisma scores. I don't think racial penalties or bonuses to mental stats apply. |
