| Prator_the_Legendary04-11-06, 04:57 PM | I'm not sure why, but my dungeon master seems determined to see my Warforged Cleric dead. Yes, I made a warforged cleric, using edited stats from the Eberron preset warforged race to make one, but that's besides the point right now. Here's what happened. We were fighting an epic level spell caster named Master Kain who killed half the party with his spells. Two of them could not be saved, but the twentieth level sorcerer in the party used a Wish spell to bring back my character, Judgement. DM: The spell fails. Me: What? You know full well you can't do that! DM: Fine then. But his limbs are all in the wrong places and he can't cast spells. Me: Why? What the hell are you doing? DM: I just want him to die! And he won't give a valid reason WHY he wants my cleric to die. Now he's threatening that a horde of Inevitables will come after me if I get him resurrected again, because "He's cheating death." Note that this rule applies to no other character in the party. What do I do? |
| kelvinaw27304-11-06, 05:07 PM | I think you need to sit down with your DM and have alittle talk. He either has a problem with the character or with you. One way or another, you need to thrash it out. By the way, our DM loved the idea of a warforged cleric he made one up even though no-one played it. His name was Medic, because that is what everybody shouted during the war when they needed him ... Seriously, though, find out what your DM hates about your cleric. There must be something that is bugging him to want you dead. Maybe it is the case of 'Clerics are just too powerful' or something. |
| Tristan04-11-06, 05:07 PM | uh...yea...so your DM is just a jackass. Only thing I can think of is that he doesnt want a warforged in his campaign, and if he didnt he should have said "you can be a warforged" rather than waiting to do this |
| Palomides04-11-06, 05:13 PM | It happens to my group a few years ago. We love the campain so much that we wanted to play too often for the dm, so the last game we met the equivalent of Sauron face-to-face, while we were only poor level 10-12 PCs (in rolemaster system). We, of course, all died. We never played with that dm again. :) |
| Prator_the_Legendary04-11-06, 08:30 PM | I've asked him several times what his beef is with my warforged cleric, and he's never really given a good answer. The closest thing he's ever given to an actual reason is "He's slow." |
| stargate52504-11-06, 08:46 PM | "He's slow." Are we talking 'mile run in an hour' slow, or '2+2 is five isn't it?' slow? If the former, you might be dragging the party down, if the latter, you seem to be a smart person, and such roleplaying should be congratulated. |
| metamind04-11-06, 08:52 PM | You need to kill you're DM before he kills you. No, JK. Are you sure its not anything outside of the game? Perhaps you two have a bad history or something? If not, you're DM really is an ass. |
| DM_Greatness04-12-06, 01:30 PM | I think your DM just woke up, and realized that he was running a Eberron campaign. Like any other self-respecting DM, he has decided to: - Lay waste to everyone in his game, perfering VoP characters to all land the killing blows - Start a new, respected D&D campaign that doesn't involve the mentality of middle-schoolers |

| KublaiKhan04-14-06, 01:34 PM | The DM needs a True-Strike'd Hammergun +5 to the face. He's obviously too immature to settle things in a reasonable manner; thus, he has no business DMing. Find a DM who isn't a control-freak loser. |

To the OP: Yeah, it seems like you just have to keep asking him why he hates you. If he's reticent, phrase it as "Well, what am I doing wrong?" (trying saying this is a slightly confused/offended/mournful tone) rather than "Why do you want to kill him?" perhaps. Seems like your DM is just kind of being dumb, though. |
| Vasquine_DeTsar04-14-06, 09:55 PM | "Your DM is so immature! Shoot him in the face with a hammer!" Yes, because when you call a guy a control-freak loser and storm out, you're the bigger man. |
| celtredleg04-14-06, 10:40 PM | Definately meet with him and face him down. If he will not give a good ingame reason, then the problem is most likely you. Maybe he doesnt like your hair color or what ever. Dont get angry about it, but definately dont waste any more time with this guy. If he cant be straight with you, then it most likely will continue to happen. Why waste your time?? |
| Ziggaraut04-14-06, 11:13 PM | If he wanted your cleric to die, and messing with your ressurection is the best he could do, he must not want your cleric to die THAT badly. :P |
