| Chipper17312-15-05, 06:32 PM | We're starting up a neutral/evil campaign, with everyone starting at 10th level. I was thinking about what kind of character I wanted to play when I settled upon a Ravager (ala CW). I decided to make this guy the most wretched, twisted, horrible person in the history of humanity who spreads wanton violence and destruction like he was just walking down the street. He's devolved almost to the point to which he kills without thinking; he's learned to recognize other Ravagers and several other people as friendly, but point him at anything else and it'll be missing its head in about 30 seconds. To add insult to injury, his weapons are a pair of unholy bladed gauntlets and...well, that's it. He took a level in barbarian to get rage and fast movement, and he's got intimidating rage, amoung other scary/visceral things. To drive the point home, he doesn't wear armor in order to set in someone's mind the image of a blitzkreig/almost kamakaze crazy guy with sharp things on his hands running at you at high speed with a grin on his face. What do you think? Is this a little too over-the-top and unable to fit in with the rest of the party (including a elf cleric, a druid, a daggerspell mage, a wizard, a monk, and a few others), or am I on the right track? |

Maybe he really respects one of the other party members (who's proven to be an artiste in all matters homicidal in the past) or else he just has some kind of "off" switch. But not so much that you can't flip out and turn a delicate diplomatic situation into a bloodbath if you really feel like it. I'm more concerned about survivability, to be honest - there should be some way to make up for the lack of armor without disrupting the "suicide fightetr" image. What do you think? Is this a little too over-the-top and unable to fit in with the rest of the party (including a elf cleric, a druid, a daggerspell mage, a wizard, a monk, and a few others), or am I on the right track? If the Daggerspell Mage is actually part of the Daggerspell Guardians (the organization that produces that class), you're likely to have some trouble. He's a little over the top, but I think he can function in a group who's mostly evil. |
| zavoq12-15-05, 06:47 PM | I like it. I think your DM is going to have to figure out some reason that you are not going to kill the rest of the party though. That could be really fun, because your character could be chomping at the bit constantly, just waiting to be able to slaughter everyone in the group, yet held back by something. Talk about internal struggle. Could be fun...maybe drive you even more insane the fact that you have to practice self control. |
| Chipper17312-15-05, 07:19 PM | The low armor thing is somewhat offset by a nice pair of bracers of armor I got him (+3 or 4 bonus, I think), plus he's got a high Dex. I also gave him Two-Weapon Defence. The 'no weapons other than the gauntlets' thing is one of the things I'm proud of about this guy. I see him getting really down and dirty, initiating grapples and using headbutts and such (Pain Touch and Improved Unarmed Strike are what's helping him with those) when he's not eviscerating people. Putting him under another party member might be a good idea, but we don't have backstory on any other characters yet, or even what setting we're in. |
| Pz.Az.04Maus12-15-05, 07:41 PM | Damn, I wish you were in my campaign, even though it's a good/neutral one (But it is turning evil by a Necro-PC, but meh.). I Love the idea of someone who is truely insane, not them generic "Cackling Cobra-Commanders" of evilness and doom that I saw in the CW. Jeez, you've got the epitome of Chaotic Evil, its avatar. |
| WarColonel12-15-05, 10:12 PM | For backstory, maybe have him develop an unusual friendship with the monk. Maybe have a sort of Gimli/Legolas (sorry for the Lotr, it fits to the ideam I'm trying to convey) competition going on, who is the best 'unarmed' fighter. YOu could even seet it up that they influence each other to some respect. The monk can help your maniac remain civilized in company, and you can teach him how to punch in a guy's nose for no reason. |
