Alrighty. I will be playing a Goliath monk in a solo campaign soon, and want to build it as a grapple specialist. Shocking, I know. But anywho. What I want to know is: Where is the best place to look for good grappling feats? Also, is there a good grappling prestige class besides the Reaping Mauler?

Thanks for the help.

Surely you'll get a few answers here, but I'd suggest the character optimization boards for the most responses.

Go to the CO boards, search for "grappling" and find the thread "A Short Guide to Grappling." It has tons of information on how to grapple well.

In addition to suggestions previously laid out, a Barbarian 1/Fighter the rest will make a more effective grappler than a monk.

A Druid will beat them both.

Grappling guide lays it all out.

CQF is designed to PREVENT grapples. Hardly desired here.

Improved unarmed strike, Improved grapple are musts. Ideally, set up situations where opponents provoke (disarming works well, as does Karmic Strike). When it happens, use it to initiate grapples. If you have reach, it's even easier. Oft, the enemy will be grappled while he's still charging in to hit you.

Thank you for all the replies!

I especially like the little tactical info from maharai23.

I'm thinking of posting a grappling prestige class in the classes forum some time soon. Feel free to jump over and comment on it.
