If u were a character [Archive] - Wizards Community

The other day my group thought that it would be cool to play with characters that were similar to the player's, so instead of rolling dice we would have to make our characters basing them on ourselves. We havent played like that yet, but we are planning to.
If you were a character, how would you be?

this would be my character
chaotic good
wizard - prolly on illusions school
gnome (im not counting the bonuses for the abilities)
str = 10
dex = 14
con = 11

do u have an iq around 180?
Molitor

09-01-05, 01:02 AM
Well, I took the Wexler's Iq test and tested in the upper 2% of the population. Which back when D&D had the bell curve in the character creation meant an 18 Int. I've actually tested at 148 IQ. Although they say there is a 10% variance on the number.

Why do you ask?

According to various tests and life experiences, I'd say that I would be a:

Elf or Halfling

STR 13
DEX 15
CON 14
INT 17
WIS 15
CHA 07
(taken from the Druid's Grove test)
Classes:
Ranger (6 years of Boy Scouting experience; survived Philmont expedition)
Bard (Lead Singer/Bassist/Lyricist/Keyboardist of two bands (currently one), was in choir and a few plays in High School)
Wizard (if taking high-level classes and being in the "gifted" programs since grade school counts)
Cleric (Roman-Catholic; was an Altar Boy for seven years in Catholic grade school)

The Druid's Grove test rates me as a Monk because of my metal discipline and outlook on life, but my experiences so far have given me the class levels represented above. Besides, I don't have any martial arts training, so I wouldn't deem Monk a fitting choice.

Because 18 int is very high. I'd prolly be around:

10 str
12 dex
10 con
14 int
14 wis
11 cha

I'm a NG Commoner...
Molitor

Of course it's very high. Did you ever think that maybe I'm smart?

It's funny, no one asks...........16 Str, are you sure ....that sounds kind of high.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
Callista

09-01-05, 01:22 AM
The whole Intelligence/IQ debate... puhleeze, let's not get into that!! The "distribution curve versus straight multiplication" thing has been re-hashed about a bajillion times...

As for me? Well, if we're talking real-life me:
Human Rogue 1/Ex-Paladin 1/Expert 3
(Knowledge: Science and Profession: Astronomer)
STR 8
DEX 12
CON 14
INT 16
WIS 17
CHA 8

AL NG

Deity: Jesus/God/etc. (There's about a thousand names out there for the same thing. Suffice it to say that I'm Christian.)

Chosen weapons: Dagger, throwing darts (yeah, I know that's a game, but it sure wouldn't feel good if one got lodged in your skull, now, would it?)

In case you're wondering: Yep, I can actually pick simple locks and build traps; and I've been known to do a rather interesting verbal "Smite Evil" on people who injure people unjustly. Unfortunately (see "Ex-Paladin") I'm currently too Chaotic (read "Disorganized") to be very effective in making a difference in the world. I am, however, working towards my own version of "atonement"--i.e., getting my life into order. (Note: Not all Christians are Lawful Good, nor do they have to be; but this particular one tends to need order to be effective.)

And if we're talking me as I would be if I were a D&D character:
Dwarf Paladin 4
STR 12
DEX 12
CON 16
INT 14
WIS 18
CHA 8

AL LG

Deity: Moradin or other LG dwarven deity.

Explanations:
RACE is Dwarf, despite my low Strength, because of my tendency to love doing things I can do well, even hard work, and especially when it involves making something (in my case, everything from wood-burning to quilting).
CLASS: Paladin. I have this tendency to pick a cause and "crusade" for it... people tell me I'm a bit annoying when it gets to that. I'm working on it. :P But hey, if something's right, it's right; and if it's wrong, it needs to be stopped. I've never had much patience with politics.
INT would be lower because of a lower chance of getting a good education.
WIS higher because of my being forced to use intuition more.
STR would be higher since I'd have been forced to increase it just to learn how to wear armor, and because it would be rather shameful to be a dwarf and be physically weak.
CON would be higher because of the Dwarf's racial bonus.
CHA would suffer no decrease (despite the Dwarf's racial adjustment) because if I had to work as a Paladin I would have had to worry about learning how to be diplomatic, despite a naturally introverted and straightforward nature.
ALIGNMENT would be LG. Chances are, a LG upbringing, rather than the CN one I got, would have allowed me to be more orderly.
DEITY: I considered Pelor, but then I realized just how "dwarfish" I am. I figured that, if I had grown up in a D&D world as a dwarf, I would probably worship a LG deity of dwarves.
Tealgorthian

A character of me...

Human Cleric 1, NG or TN

STR 10 - Average.
DEX 12 - I'm kinda' quick. sorta'.
CON 10 - Average.
INT 13 - If it's something I enjoy, I'm usually quite knowledgeable about it.
WIS 14 - I'm pretty good at judging people and watching body language.
CHA 14 - I can adapt to suit a crowd and talk my way out of most things if need be.

Cleric: I'm Catholic (Cradle Catholic, to be exact). I teach third-grade catechism every Wednesday night during the school year. If I didn't want a family so much, I would've tried to become a priest. Uh...yay, God.

EDIT: Changed so it applies to 25-point buy.

Smart people tend to have unorthodox ideas...and unusual hobbies and interests. ;) Also, people on the internet often exaggerate their personal qualities, due to the anonymous nature of the medium.

FWIW, my take on myself:
NG female human wizard - alignment, gender, and race self-explanatory. Into science, obscure arcana, and all sorts of other wierd things only a wizard would know or care about.
STR 7 - I have like no strength. At all.
DEX 9 - Very clumsy, but I always make my reflex saves! (Maybe I've got Evasion somehow.)
CON 9 - Slightly susceptible to stress and sickness.
INT 15 - Me is smarter than rock! :D
WIS 10 - Variable depending on situation, overall average awareness of surroundings.
CHA 12 - For some reason people seem to like me...But not in that "wildly throwing money and gifts at me" kind of way. :weep:

CN Human Fighter / Rogue / Deepwood Sniper

When I was in the military I recieved expert marksmen on both the M-16A2 and 9mm, each with 4 oak leaf clusters, so I would assume I would be pretty good with a ranged weapon.

Str - 11 (I have maintained my military training even after getting out)
Dex - 16 (Based mostly on the Hand Eye Cordination)
Con - 14 (Physically fit, and I next to never get sick)
Int - 10 (I know some abstract things, but I would not call myself smart)
Wis - 12 (I like to think of wisdom as street wise and common sense, I have a lot of that)
Cha - 12 (A good amount of people like me, but I am certainly not famous)

I'd actually been giving this some thought over the last few days before you posted this. So far I've come up with this:

1st level Human Expert

Alignment CN

Attributes (incidentally consistent with 12-point buy)
str 8
dex 10
con 12
int 14
wis 8
cha 8

Class Skills:
Craft, Disable Device, Escape Artist, Gather Information, Knowledge, Listen, Profession, Search, Spot, Use Rope
I won't bother filling in skill ranks
Feats are most likely just a couple skill boosters.

Wait a minute....why would anyone want to play "themselves" in a FANTASY setting? I thought the reason we all played D&D was to remove ourselves from our pathetic little bodies and assume an alternate identity?

Me? I'm probably...
Str: 11
Dex: 13
Con: 8
Int: 15
Wis: 10
Cha: 6
Bard 1 / Ranger 1

I sure wouldn't want to play me...

Same reason I don't play the SIMS :rolleye2:

Yup, it's pathetic. That's why I never would accept to play myself in D&D.
Otto the Bugbear

09-01-05, 07:34 AM
Race: Bugbear (duh!)

Classes: Ranger - Well, I grew up in the woods (northern Michigan), so I'd like to think this fits quite a bit better than Fighter. I certainly don't have the rage, and I'm not a fast runner, so Barbarian is out.
Monk - Only because I can punch pretty damn hard. No other class fits that. Plus, I'm pretty disciplined mentally. Thief Acrobat - Uhh, I can still perform a kip up, even at 32 years old.

Skills: Proffession: engineer and craft: carpentry, along with some minor spot and search. I have a tendency to see things others overlook, whether they're trying or not. Jump would certainly be present.

Str: 16 - okay, even though I'm a bugbear, I'm not "hulk smash" strong.
Dex: 15 - I'm fairly dextrous.
Con: 16 - I never get sick and I can work like a horse all day long.
Int: 13 - If we go by the I.Q. thingy, then it would be this, I suppose. Though that was a few years ago, so it could be higher or lower.
Wis: 11 - Yep, I'm average there. I'm just wise enough to know that I don't know it all.
Cha: 10 - I get on well with everyone and everyone likes me.
(okay, those are adjusted for racial mods. So, 12, 13, 14, 13, 11, 12)

Cheers

Otto :)

For my Race/Class/Stats, please see .sig. :) Feats would be WF: Shortbow, since my dad made sure I was a decent archer, and SF: Perform (Singing), with 16+ years choral performances. Knowledge: Trivia would be a maxed out Skill, too.

Human ranger who focuses on crossbows and knives. I love knives, and crossbows are the closest thing to guns. My aim with bows is rather shoddy. As for Ranger, I enjoy the outdoors and am comfortable there.

Str 8 (Arm strength mainly, I still have decent carrying capacity)
Dex 14 (Good hand-eye coordination, decent foot-eye coordination.)
Con 12 (Rarely get sick, have lots of endurance)
Int 16 (Going by the IQ/10 thing. If I rated it the same as Moliter, I'd be an 18, but I see 18 as practically unachievable by most. Stephen Hawking has a 20 maybe. The rest of us fall far short.)
Wis 12 (I generally make wise and cautious descisions.)
Cha 10 (I get along with people, but generally do not attract attention.)

Feats: Point Blank Shot (I do a fair bit of short range shooting), Two-Weapon fighting (iffy), Weapon Finesse (Definitely. I do not do attacks based on strength. I go for accurate quick attacks to vitals. Kinda bad for nonlethal fights, which is why I avoid them.)

Skills: Move Silent, Hide, Listen, Spot, Know (nature), and Survival, various ranks. Also have a few in climb, search, know (military), know (history), know (D&D), know (computer games), know (biology & ecology), and some others that aren't coming to mind because I'm stuck on the knowledges. Yes, I realize that is a lot of skills, but even as just a 1st level character I have 40-44 skill points.

Between TrueNeutral and NeutralGood

STR 11 (I'm reasonably strong, but not overly)
DEX 16 (I'm very agile and am capable of avoiding quickly. Hand-eye coordination is good.)
CON 14 (I can stand quite a few beatings, though I do get mildly sick now and then. Hardly ever get sick enough to stay at home for though)
INT 12 (College Graduate)
WIS 14 (I'm very alert and keep a good eye on my surroundings. A lot of friends come to me for advice)
CHA 12 (I've been told I've got a strong personality, I can adapt myself quickly to any situation. I'll pick up lead if necessary and am fairly succesful in persuading people when needed. I'm not the prettiest face on the street, but there's a really fair share that's uglier, so to speak :P)

Feats: Weapon Focus Shortsword, Twoweapon fighting, Improved Grapple and dodge.
Skills: Knowledge [Human Physiology], Tumble, Sense Motive, Survival, Balance, Heal and Intuit Direction.

Cha: 19 (i dont know, i guess im pretty charismatic, i can sing pretty well, often making up really good songs off the top of my head)

i took that stat test...forgot where it was, thats what i got for stats...

Im annoying like a gnome, im pretty good at singing, i can keep people distracted, and if you get me ****** i go into "Flibbity Gibbity" mode (I flail my arms wildly, scream flibbity gibbity, and charge, hoping to hit you at least once with my wildly flailing arms)...so...bard/barb fits me

It's funny, no one asks...........16 Str, are you sure ....that sounds kind of high.

Actually, strength is pretty measurable in game terms, moreso than INT, anyway. Just look up the chart and perform 2 tests.

First, put on a backpack, load it down with weights or jugs of water and walk 10 miles. Does the pack slow you down? If so, it's a medium load. People who hike or backpack regularly get a more accurate feel for this.

Second, try powerlifting something. Just up to the knees, and waddle around with it for 30 seconds. (LIFT WITH THE LEGS, NOT WITH THE BACK!) By the book, the maximum you can handle is 2x your heavy load.

For me, this works out to a 14 strength. (Going to the gym regularly helps!)

The two stats people always OVERetimate on themselves are Wisdom and Charisma. It's hard to rate common sense and force of personality on a scale, and most of us would like to think we have more of them then we actually do. If you really feel the need to figure these things up for yourself, then the people you game with regularly should probably rate them FOR you.

But back to the point of this thread...

Str 14 (by testing)
Dex 7 (by observation)
Con 14 (by extension of strength stat)
Int 15 (by ye olde IQ test)
Wis 13 (as rated by others, my moments of thoughtlessness are few)
Cha 14 (as rated by others, I tend to lead in gaming as well as in real life)

I think of myself as something Fighterish/Rangerish. My friends insist I'm a Paladin, but I don't consider myself nearly spiritual enough.

Well, either my perspective on ability scores is totally off or some people are grossly overestimating their own stats.

And Molitor?
Top 2.0% of the population is NOTHING. Damn. You need to be in like the top 0.5% just to get into the top universities of the America. The top 2% isn't even making close to 200K USD per year. You must mean "I am in the top 2% of the population in Arizona," which (no offense to those living in Arizona) is not much.

The average IQ I've scored on different IQ tests is around 160. I consider myself to have an Int of around 15 to 16. I am not Einstein. Most of my patents are minor compared to Einstein's innovations.

I used to think my Wisdom was high, perhaps around 16, but since I opened my big fat mouth about it (-4 penalty to wisdom). I'm more realistically about wisdom 12. Oops, I forgot to take into account the fact that I participated in this thread (-4 penalty to wisdom). Thanks to Bruunwald for reminding me to factor that in. Ok, so I have around 8 points of Wisdom. That's more than enough to know that anyone participating in this thread who thinks they have 18 Int is most likely kidding themselves.

- 16 Strength (can bench around 300-350; 3 sets; 10 reps average on a reversed pyramid).
- 8 Dex (Haven't been stretching lately. I have tense muscles and tend to get shaky arms these days when doing precision work. I just need to relax... less coffee. Start up doing martial arts again... get reflexes back into shape, etc...)
- 11 Con (can take slightly more vodka than the average man. Jog only once a week. Hate cardio.)
- 16 Int (The Prestige Class Engineer requires a minimum Int score of 14. My scores on tests SAT 1550. SAT II composite 2300. GMAT 800. Average IQ 160. Average GPA throughout all school years 4.3. Unfortunately, no inventions to show off. No innovative designs, theories, patents, etc... Nothing to brag about except scores... which we all know amount to nothing in the long-run if you can't do anything with them. Sad...)
- 8 Wis (I am your average guy who thinks his opinion is obviously superior to others. Very arrogant. Although open-minded, I will often complement myself in my own mind about how open-minded I am! Often oblivious to own surroundings when musing or doing calculations in my head.)
- 16 Cha (I am so incredibly arrogant and offensive, as you can obviously see from reading my posts, yet I have many friends in real life and people love me the minute they meet me! Haha!)

Did I read that correctly?
Someone wrote that they have 19 Charisma?

What are you? The President of the US? Tom Hanks? Jay Leno? Maybe a famous singer? How many movies/shows/performances have you done?

I think people are too used to rolling up high stats and taking those stats for granted as they play their characters.

(EDIT: In case anyone actually is wondering, I was kidding about having 16 Charisma. It's more like 13. I still get rejected, just like everyone else.)

EDIT AGAIN:
(i dont know, i guess im pretty charismatic, i can sing pretty well, often making up really good songs off the top of my head)
You don't know? You guess? You don't really sound confident enough to have superhuman charisma. Yes, 19 for any ability is superhuman.

If you can convince me that I'm wrong, then maybe I'll believe you. Haha.

CON: 15 (Haha! I've got all my shots!)
DEX: 12 (athletic shoes!)
INT: 24 (Hey everyone, guess what I know? E=MCsquared!, photosynthesis!, use adamantine versus golems!, the king is a vampire!)

CHA: 4 (seriously, I'm not crazy. This is all just a game...don't leave!)

<Edit>: Wait, are you complaining first that we're overestimating our scores, and then that our scores are too low? </Edit>

Dunno about you, but I've got a 16 point buy, with one score below 8. I know what my body can and can't do. I know I'm smart, but I know there are tons of people out there who are way smarter than I'll ever be. My answers for Wisdom and Charisma are based on interactions with other people, and what people who I trust and definitely have higher scores in them than I do say.

My skill list looks a lot like a bard: a smattering of nearly every Knowledge skill (like, 1 rank, except for Arcana, which is maxed), Concentrate, a couple ranks in Diplomacy and Gather Info, a few each in Perform (string, wind, and vocal), one or two in Search, one in Speak Language and/or took the Smatterings feat, 1-2 ranks in Swim....

Too bad my Charisma sucks for spells. ;) Otherwise I would Glibness your butt into next week. :P

Of course I'm probably an ex-bard by now and back into Commoner levels. Never had more than 1 level of the class anyway. And yes, I may in fact become a scientist. (Which I figure are either experts or wizards, depending on how you interpret technology and professions into game terms.)

Same here. But the fact that I actually read over it proves my Wisdom must be lower than average.

Come on, 16 intelligence? What are you, scientists all of you?
Well... no, but the work of an engineer is similar to that of a scientist and often surpasses in difficulty. Scientists? They discover stuff. Engineers? We take the stuff that they discover, analyze the hell out of it, and actually make it useful (which is often harder than most people think).

The avarage is 10 or 11, most of you aren't PC's but more like NPC's.
I don't think you even got the elite build. 3d6 or something like that, perhaps?
Yeah, I think people are using "4d6 drop lowest" to rate themselves. People don't seem to realize a score of 18 is about 4 standard deviations above the norm (+4 modifier). People with an intelligence of 18 are close to one in 20,000. That's about the top 0.005%. Those are people who have significant patents that make a difference (not just the cheap designs/programs I come up with and patent just to actually keep up with friends, "Uh.. yeah! I have a few patents too! Nevermind that they are obvious designs that just haven't been mentioned before because they are so trivial!").

Even an Int score of 12 is already good. A +1 modifier means you're already about one standard deviation above the norm. That's means you're better than approximately 84% of the population. Yes, a standard deviation from the norm holds 68%. So about 68% of humans should fit in the Int 9-11 range. Int of 14 means you're already in the top 2.5%.

So Molitor would be about Int 14 (maybe 15) if he was in the top 2%. Congrats, you're at the top of your class of 50.

From the stats of grades, scores, and salary alone (but salary could also depend on charisma, so let's leave that out), I am in the top 0.5%. All that gives me is about 16 Int. Int 18? I known a few professors I've worked with who might have that. I have a few friends who have widely accepted publications and up-coming patents (ones that actually amount to something), and I still put them at around 17. Int 18 should be significant, not just given to random teenagers posting on a BBS.

I think a D&D equivalent of me would be a human wizard, CG alignment

Str 12
Dex 6

I figure a 16 intelligence because I have always equated IQ to intelligence on a 10 for 1 basis, that is Int 16 = 160 I.Q. and that's about what my IQ tests at. I figure wizard because that's just about the only thing that would be worth a darn with those stats. ;)

FWIW, I consider a wizard to be equivalent to scientist in a lot of ways. In D&D, that's what scientists usually end up being anyway. None of us likely fits a class perfectly. The classes are abstractions in a fantasy world. As we don't live in a fantasy world, with unicorns and dragons and fireballs (not objectively provable ones anyway), we can only approximate our "classes".

Well, according to the druid's grove test, I have these:

9 str-I just turned 13
15 dex-I've got good reflexes and I'm pretty agile. I also take Aikido, so that probobly helped
12 con-I don't get sick very often
14 int-In school this year I'm in the 2 years advanced math class and I LOVE science
16 wis-I absolutely don't agree with this; it's probobly more like 8
14 cha-I'm not sure how honestly I answered those quenstions, but I am pretty polite and people tell me I'm nice. I can lead sometimes, and I have some very close friends. Weirdly, I can't stay mad at people, though I don't know if that has anything to do with charisma.

According to this test I am a human wizard, which is probobly right, but another test said primarily ranger and secondarily mage elf. I'm probobly lawful good and probobly have a level or two of monk(i am almost a purple belt in aikido).

From the stats of grades, scores, and salary alone (but salary could also depend on charisma, so let's leave that out), I am in the top 0.5%. All that gives me is about 16 Int. Int 18?

Well, either my perspective on ability scores is totally off or some people are grossly overestimating their own stats.

And Molitor?
Top 2.0% of the population is NOTHING. Damn. You need to be in like the top 0.5% just to get into the top universities of the America. The top 2% isn't even making close to 200K USD per year. You must mean "I am in the top 2% of the population in Arizona," which (no offense to those living in Arizona) is not much.

It's funny you say some people's stats are grossly overestimated. We have never met. That's OK. I forgive you. Heck, I don't even know you. Holy hell man, I can tell you don't care, I think I see one period and not a single capital letter.

I was probably overestimating myself with a 10 int, but I certainly don't classify as a retard. Most of what I know comes from street smarts, not much else. But I don't mind that some of the attributes I gave myself are exagerated, nothing wrong with wanting to make ones self look good, and besides, if you made it truly accurate you would have a character with to many negatives. :)

Public education systems make many of the people who would otherwise be Commoners into Experts. Those of us from wealthy families might even be considered Aristocrats. If I were a character I would be...

Human ex-Monk/Bard/Ranger NG
Str - 14
Dex - 10
Con - 15
Int - 16
Wis - 14
Cha - 14

Why? ex-Monk because I have done over 10 years of Judo and I generally tended to be lawful, but by now I've become far more chaotic and have a love for music and history hence the bard-thingy. And Ranger because I am studying biology and know quite a lot about finding wild animals (insects), but don't bond to nature like some hippy/magicless-RL-witch.. I wouldn't know how many levels of each of that.

And my stats. Str 13-14, since I'm rather stronger than the average human male, but some kind of bodybuilder. Dex 10 since I'm nothing special. Con 15, since I haven't been ill in years and are rather resistant to about anything.

Int 16, since I don't know my IQ, but have been study on university and generally are above-averagely smart. Wis 14, since I am very aware of my surroundings and have a good eye for detail and generally know my way around philosophic thinking. Cha 14, since I can be charming.

STR: 10 I'm solely average.
DEX: 14 I'm pretty damn flexible, how many of you can say you can choke yourself with your own leg? I can.
CON: 11 I'm pretty resilient, but I still get sick sometimes.
INT: 15 I'm smart, I know it. I'm not a huge psycho genius though.
WIS: 9 I'm fairly unaware of my surroundings.
CHA: 12 I'm a charasmatic guy and I'm pretty good looking.

I'd true neutral, I'd say. Probably a rogue too, I'm pretty skilled at a lot of different things. I wasn't very giving with my stats, unlike most people in this thread.

@ Dick

That's interesting. What would Olympic athletes be?...

Jouko Ahola of Finland was named the strongest man in the world in 1997 and 1999. He holds the record for lifting the heaviest stone in the World Strongman competition. The stone weighed 215 kg (414 lb). The 1,85 m (6 ft) tall Jouko also is the world's car-carrying champion.

What the writer of the above paragraph doesn't mention is that he did not lift the stone over his head. He merely rested it on his shoulders.

From the SRD: A character can lift as much as his or her maximum load over his or her head. A character can lift as much as double his or her maximum load off the ground, but he or she can only stagger around with it.

So what Jouko did was somewhere in between lifting the stone over his head and just lifting it off the ground. Note that lifting a stone above your head is a lot harder and more dangerous than lifting a barbell over your head.

So I'll just say that the heaviest object you can rest on your shoulder slowly after lifting it off the ground is about 50% more than your maximum load.

Looking at the Carrying Capacity Table in the SRD, that would put Jouko at around 18 to 19 Strength. He might have started at 16 or 17 and worked hard to earn his 18-19 strength. He gained many levels doing strength training and spent the ability bonuses on Strength like any muscle head would.
(Note that I'm giving Jouko the benefit of the doubt. I was very liberal in my guestimates in his favor. If I were to be more conservative on the estimates, the numbers would likely place him as 17-18 instead of 18-19).

So Olympic Athletes probably don't need 20. Remember that 18 is already bordering on Superhuman. That's why you never roll 19's for your starting stats.

There you go. The world's supposed strongest man is only about Str 19 (or less). Any of you wise guys want to keep kidding yourselves about your 18 strength ability scores? I'm starting to consider dropping my own to 15. Hahaa.

Alright, I won't make assumptions about your intelligence... but I can't help but comment on your Wisdom.

You say your accuracy rating is like 99% when it comes to "knowing ppl." (That's my favorite abbreviation, by the way.)

The first sentence of a psychology textbook I've read (for fun... I like psych) claims that "Psychology is a disrespected profession because most people believe that they have a perfect judgment of character." What it's saying is, "It's typical for people to think they 'know people'," because people are often opinionated, sheltered, and stubborn. Some people even come with a combination of those traits. Hence, they will only see what supports their own point of view, and nothing that goes against it. Since human nature is so complicated, it's relatively easy for someone stubborn to see behaviour in others that reaffirms his own opinion of them.

I like to think that I have a perfect Wisdom too. "My accuracy rating (in my own opinion) is 100%. Hah! I beat you..."

... then I realized, "I'm a dork," and then applied the "bragging/conceit penalty" to my Wisdom score (-4 penalty).

I'm fairly certain you forgot to apply that penalty to your own score.

Portfolio- Chilli, um... That's 'bout it.
Domains-Fire, Law, Plant.
Favored Weapon-Ranseur. They're so cool!
Symbol-A chilli on fire. Or a bottle of your local sweet chilli sauce.

Then there's the character me

Race: HALFLING!!!!! Okay, I'm not short by any standards, but I have the attitude of a true halfling. It's not even funny. And halflings are rather thin, right? Goes for me too.
Class: Um... Expert, I would think. I'm taking courses in Economics and I.T, after all. If that don't work, probably Monk/Enlightened Fist. I like playing with pipes.
Str: 8. Nuff said.
Dex: 12. Not good enough to do gymnastics, yet not bad enough to not be flexible.
Con: 14. I allow only one sickness every other year to take me from my studies, and I have had only one broken bone. That and punches tickle me.
Int: 15. Being sent to a 'smart' school does that to you.
Wis: 10. I'm not really sure about this score.
Cha: 12. People like ignoring me, but aside from that, I have yet to find a situation I couldn't talk myself out of. And I'm a good actor.
Skill Focus: Bluff (What would I do without a bit of creative lying to get me outta not doing my homework?), Profession (Scholar) (Of course...), Knowledge (Nature), Craft (Designing) (I like designing things.)
Weapon: Quarterstaff. That's the only weapon I have, really, a plastic pipe. I doubt kitchen knives would do anything!

Stats are according to the infamous test

STR 14- I'm a pretty big guy, I build muscle like crazy, without much working out. I have thigh and calf muscles that could snap you neck.
DEX 9- I'm a little clumsy at times, and tend to have bad coordination in all the times that it counts.
CON 10- My immune system was weakened by a pretty bad bout with spinal meningitis as a kid.
INT 14- I have an IQ of 142, and can comprehend my fair share of high brow topics.
WIS 12- I'm somewhat unaware of how the world works, and can be a little too trusting of others- but I do have an idea of what's going on.
CHA 15- I'm fairly handsome, and have a way with words. I've been told many many times that I have a gift for storytelling. Also, a lot of guys think I'm charming and sweet. I'm really not, most of the time I'm just trying to get some action ;)

Human Bard, all the way. Will find some way to make use of my musical training and all those music theory classes. Furthermore, I would probably adventure just as a means to gaining interesting stories, and I tend to have a rather encyclopedic knowledge of a lot of different mythologies. Going to need to stay away from melee, though. Crappy armor and crappy AC means I'm a pretty easy target

Bleh. Realistically, if 9 Dex meant that you were unable melee, then not a whole lot of humans could melee.

From my experience, Dex does very little to help someone dodge a blow. In most martial arts, it's not really the reflexes but the insight that helps you avoid being hit. (So the Monk's wisdom bonus to AC actually does have some flavor to it.)

In boxing for example, by the time you actually see the Jab coming at you, it's pretty much impossible to dodge it, regardless of reflexes. (Please don't point out some personal experiences that supposedly counter this statement. That would only prove the incompetence of your opponent.)

You pretty much need to use your "sense motive" to know when your opponent is about to hit you before he even starts. Your wisdom modifier is above average, you should be fine... unlike me (which is why I've never placed first in any tourneys in boxing... Haha). You should be average at worst.

Heh, long time ago, my brother was bragging about his reflexes. He thought he had good reflexes because of his gaming skills (on Gamecube and PS2). I dared him to dodge (or even block) a slow jab. It was impossible. I tapped his chin 20 out of 20 times. He could dodge a dodge ball though (if it was thrown by anorexic girls).

You make a good point. I was just basically saying that as a bard without a Dex bonus, I wouldn't be getting much AC from armor, nor from any natural sources.

And there you have it.

AH, no way! Int 9? The fact that you can spell correctly puts you a far cry smarter than alot of posters on this board. HAHA :D

You know, that actually does make sense. You can read someone's body pretty easily if you know what to look for. But when the actual punch is being thrown, it's usually too late.

I've taken some unarmed combat. About the equivalent of the improved unarmed trike feat rather than monk levels. (Doesn't bother me, monks are underpowered.)

Please... don't encourage them... haha.

I'm still reeling from posters that claim to be both "insightfull/insightfullll/insightfullllllllll" and have Int 17 at the same time.

Ah... IQ tests. I wonder why they never get any respect. Haha.

Then again, it WOULD be pretty funny to see a post going like this:

wow this will be tuff
strenth 19. i can lift my couch
dex 16. i am the 2nd best dogeball playa on my class of twenty people.
con 18. i only get sick once a year
int 18. IQ 180 baby! im only bad at arithmetic. but thats all.
wisdom 16. im insightfull but i dont want to show it cuz im too wize.

Hahaha.

Well, I guess I am immature in that sense. Do you remember way back in grade school, rolling your eyes as you're forced to listen to people brag. I guess I was one of those rude asses who'd say, "Oh shut up... you do not have an IQ of 200." I could just sit down and ignore them, but I am more vocal than most people. Would you say that gives me a charisma penalty or wisdom penalty? Haha.

To be fair, it is wrong of me to make so many assumptions, as wrong as it is for a plebeian to judge the intelligence of a scholar. Personally, I think it's ill-mannered for someone to judge the intelligences of those who may be above him. For example, you can't very well expect someone with 12 Int to judge the respective intelligences of those with 16+ Int.
For that reason, I'm being hypocritical and breaking my own rules, but I'm aware of that.

I could very well have been baited by a certain number of people on this thread. May their planned retaliation be swift if that be the case. However, I fully acknowledge that possibility, and will accept responsibility for my own rudeness when that time comes. Haha.

Meanwhile, we can both get drunk and talk about the hypothetical battle between a crippled Hessiah, Jabba the Hutt, and Gygax.

PC Classed- lvl 1 bard/lvl 1 ranger
NPC Classed- lvl 2 or three expert (Perform, Knowledge Nature, Knowledge History, Suvival being my central skills.)

Race- Human (being entirely realistic), or prehaps Half-Elf or tiefling.

Alignment- TN or (in game) NG. I'd like to think of myself as an altruist, but who really is?

Str: 10- just like every other human
Dex: 13- presents an intresting problem, as I have very good reflexes, but relatively poor hand eye cordination, and yet I'm an exellent archer, and a good rock climber.
Con 14- I have good endurance, have not been seriously sick in three years, and door a great deal of backpacking.
Int 14- That seems to be the average self asigned score on this thread, given the fact that most D&D players seem to be a fairly intelligent demographic, and while I'm smart, I doubt I'm any smarter then most of the other posters on these boards.
Wis 9- I have very poor social intuition, am slightly paranoid, and am rather lacking in common sense (which I try to make up for by being extra caucious all the time, probably a stupid thing to do, but thats me...)
Cha 12- I'm generaly likeable, and have a powerful musical stage presence.

The other day my group thought that it would be cool to play with characters that were similar to the player's, so instead of rolling dice we would have to make our characters basing them on ourselves. We havent played like that yet, but we are planning to.
You mean i get to play myself?

In that case i am a lvl 500 wizard with 60 divine ranks and stats all in the 1000's...

Ok, coming back to RL. (assuming 8-14 are the human norm (90%))

STR 12
DEX 9
CON 10
INT 15
WIS 14
CHA 10

im am the smartest person i have ever met.
When you are really so smart you should know that you are the smartest person you have met you KNOW OF.

Okay, I'll use the stats that I received from the Druid's Grove test that are found in my sig.

I answered every question as truthfully as possible and didn't overestimate my worth.

STR: 10 - I consider myself the average strength of someone who is 6'0, 230 pounds. My strength is a lot in my legs, and I have very little upper body strength,
DEX: 17 - This is the only one I have any big discrepency with. I'm not as fast as most people would attribute a DEX score of 17 to. I feel my dex comes from my coordination. As I said, I answered truthfully.
CON: 16 - Despite what my girlfriend considers a weak constitution, I never EVER get sick. The last time I got sick was many, many years ago.
INT: 12 - Another one I have a discrepency with, but not as big as the Dex score. I'm not the brightest person bookwise, and mathematically I'm terrible. I'm told I'm a genious in verbal skills.
WIS: 15 - I tend to have a great deal of self-assuredness and common sense, but I'm by no means arrogant about it.
CHA: 15 - Apparently, it believed I have a great deal of charisma, something I don't agree with. I keep to myself, but I've been told I can take charge and be inspiring when I want to be.

I dont know where the Lawful Good comes from...I tend to be more Chaotic Good or Neutral Good. I try to help out people and go out of my way to do so.

The Dwarf was a surprise, but I can understand. I can be surly and stubborn when I want to, despite my dislike for alcohol.

Ranger was somewhat expected. I love the natural world and hate what people do to it. If I could, I would defend it with my life. I'm not bad at tracking and I'm a hunter who knows which plant is which and what can be used for what purpose.

According to the little tests in peoples sigs I am a...

CN Human Monk (must not be a very good monk)
15 str
16 dex
13 con
14 int
13 wis
10 cha

According to me I am a LN Human (too thick to be an elf, too tall to be a dwarf) um hrm fighter or perhaps ranger?
12 str Strong but at 6'1 220lbs I should be stronger
16 dex Can juggle and fire a rifle and bow with deadly results
14 con Can run 3 miles or do 150 flights of stairs
14 int 3.8 double major GPA at college crim/psych (only a 136 tested IQ, not Hawkings...but I won't ever have to ask "Would you like fries with that?"
12 wis Made mistakes, but learned from them
12 cha Lots of friends :) but kinda mean looking :(

A bit above average, wouldn't make too bad of a monk but the lifestyle just doesn't suit me very well. My life is real boring though, no big adventures, no lost treasures I would have been retired after my first game session :P

I find this incredibly funny. At some math camp we went to, my roomate and I wasted an hour figuring D&D stats. I proposed these, and he agreed.

Real Life:
Human Commoner
Str: 9
Dex: 10
Con: 7
Int: 18
Wis: 7
Cha: 7

Hey, I'm comparing myself to the average human commoner. I think that we have a pretty great deal of above averages here.

Idealized Fantasy Self: (Just put on racial modifiers and class.)
Kobold Expert
Str: 7
Dex: 11
Con: 10
Int: 18
Wis: 10
Cha: 10

All skills into knowledge.

I'll be honest, here are me real stats:
Str: 79
Dex: 54
Con: 182
Int: 87
Wis: 99
Cha: Somewhere around infinity-ish

:rimshot:

But really:

Str:10
Dex:11
Con:9
Int:15
Wis:13
Cha:15

Race: Human (gnomes a distant second)
Class: Defanatly Wilder.
Why: I'm a bit of a lazy guy (Con) but I do have to have some strength for my job (Str). I play alot of videogames, mostly RPGs and Stratagy (Wis) and FPSs (Dex). When I got my IQ tested, it was 140ish (Int). I can usually talk people into doing/thinking my way (Cha) which comes in really handy for group projects for school.

I'd say human because non of the other race mentalities appeal to me, excpet for maybe gnomes. I'd say I'm a wilder because there are so many times I get so angry I want to blast beams of death from my forehead!

-ALSO-
Let's put this in perspective. Most people have a 10 charisma. Quasimoto had a 4 charisma. Sean Connery has a 20. (It was an 18, but he bought it up as he leveled...)

This is sigged. Oh so sigged.
