Incorporeal Help [Archive] - Wizards Community

05-01-05, 03:45 PM I've spoken to my DM and he has allowed me to play an Unbodied, (Exp Psionics Handbook) which is an incorporeal race. One disagreement has arissen however, in the incorporeal subtype listing, it says that an incorporeal can be harmed only by other incorporeal creatures, magic weapons, spells, spell-like effects, or supernatural effects. Even attacked by these things they have a 50% chance to ignore any damage from a corporeal source. But what does define a corporeal source? For instance my DM says that inflict serious wounds is not a corporeal spell (as apposed to fireball or web), but I argue that the spell is delivered via a touch attack and thus IS corporeal a corporeal source. Please, any help in clearing this up would be much appretiated.

05-01-05, 04:34 PM If they're trying to touch you and they're corpereal, they have to roll the 50% miss chance unless they have something that eliminates it. With the Mass spells, I believe you don't get that since it any number of targets none of which can be X feet apart. So as long as you're in that area, yer inflicted.

05-01-05, 04:58 PM Edit: i was wrong about touch attacks missing entirely. (i orginally said that they don't take the 50% miss chance, but instead fail entirely.)

basicly, anything magical in nature and is not a force spell (or ghost touch weapons and armor) has the 50% miss chance. force spells and ghost touch weapons ignore the miss chance and hit normally. anything non-magical misses entirely.
