How could you be insane with an above-average to great WIS??

Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated.

A salient point. To elaborate, someone could be incredibly observant, and have a strength of will born of their twisted mind. As I recall, there are a few prestige classes that give insane characters will saves.

you spelt the holy ones name incorrectly.

You can have a charicter be insane without a weak WIS score, if it is only for roleplaying. If not, relocate a large amount of wisdom to another, more useful ability.

That's easy: You know and understand too much for any mind to bear. You are not insane ... you just have a very different outlook on things, because you understand what is actually going on. CoC or White Wolf's Ravenloft have a lot of details on how horror and madness are influenced by understanding too much.
