| Matthais77707-24-07, 08:37 PM | Okay, So i just finished reading a forum about charisma and intimadation. People kept giving these great examples of people doing this that were hilarious, Cool, or downright awsome. Funny thing was, they were always about Barabarians, mostly him crushing a table, delevering one liner, and people cowering in fear.:D So i was wondering, when another class start to intimadate how does it go? So everbody Be creative! try and have some funny (Think low Charisma, High Ranks Barabarian with helium voice) and some serious (High Charisma, High Ranks Bard with knife at your throat), but try to keep it narritive style, as i think this usually provides the best results. Barbarians are allowed, but try to stick to other classes. I'll Start... "Please understand my kind sir" the peasent growled, mocking the elf in robes in front of him "I cannot give away the family's amulet, it is much to valuable to give to a feather weight elf" The elf Nodded "I understand, i guess i'll be on my way, but first..." he muttered and waved his hands. A huge ball of flames launched behind the peasent, destroying the tree behind him in a burst a flames. the peasent looked behind him stammering as the elf finished speaking "Won't you please reconsider?" |
| Disciple_of_Salsa07-24-07, 11:14 PM | Super-high level intimidation!!!! Doorman says-"I wont tell you the pass word!" Cleiric-"SLAY LIVING!!!" "Raise Dead!" "Maybe you should reconsider." Druids can do it to, but with Reincarnation. |

Run away and take the amulet with him. 2. Haul off and deck the wizard one. I suppose he could also call for help, and then the wizard would have a number of angry and frightened peasants to try and sweet talk, as well. Then again, blowing up a nearby tree should certainly allow the wizard to make another Intimidate check, probably with a not-inconsiderable bonus, but the problem with that is that the wizard just made himself known as a dangerous lunatic who goes around blowing up trees just to rob peasants of assorted baubles. Anyway, it's a little too late for me to post constructive additions to this thread, so I just thought I'd play Devil's Advocate for a bit. Good luck with the rest of the threat thread! Cheers, --Count Chumleigh |

The party's Wizard, loremaster, archivist, etc. Pulls out a random book from his backpack (without showing the cover) and flips through it. "You know, I love this book. Have you read it? Tribulations of a Paladin in the lower planes. The story is a little weak, good triumphs over evil and all, generic plot line, but the delivery of the tortures the Paladin is put through, my goodness it's so detailed. Shall I read you a line? 'Blood trickled from wound to wound, the first dried injuries from the month before open enough to let the new cuts leak into them, even from the top of his head. Like a weak stream trickling down a rock face, hugging the corners, following the natural and unnatural lines placed in it's path.' To make a long threat short, where is the sphere?" |
| Drag0nUL07-25-07, 07:08 AM | I once played a cleric/fallen paladin/bone knight in an Eberron campaign. This guy(quite a creepy fellow) was very successful in extracting information/services from unwilling targets(and I had great fun in roleplaying those moments) due to max ranks in intimidate/high charisma/+4 bonus from bonecraft armor. One session, we had captured the servant of a lich (a mid level fighter) who was extremely reluctant to tell us where his master's stronghold was. after a few hours in which the party's diplomat(half-elf bard/sublime chord/swordsage/JPM) had tried anything from promises of great rewards to threats, my character steps into the cell, followed by his trusty karrnathi skeleton cohort. Without paying any attention to the prisoner, he orders the skeleton to take off his armor and then proceeds to study it:'hmm...a fractured rib here, a dented collarbone there...I think they need replacing..after all...we don't want you to break apart in the middle of the road, do we?' He then takes out a rusty scalpel from his belt and steps toward the prisoner; he starts feeling his body, looking for the right bones and talking to himself: 'Yes...right here...just what I needed...perfect...see? (to the skeleton)..and Arian (Arian was the bard) said he was completely useless to us...' and then he pretend to start cutting one of the prisoner's arms. 10 minutes later, the bone knight left the room with detailed information regarding the location and laoyout of the lich's keep. |
| Avatar of Kokusho07-25-07, 11:42 AM | Reason why Incantatrix gets Intimidate as a class skill: Epic character attempting to get info from recalcitrant wizard in tower (he's, oh 13th level or so) Me: I think you're the one in charge of this, you're creating an illusion of a dragon so you can get rich off these people's fear! Him: No way! I wouldn't even know how! Me: Don't you know who I am, you moron?! **DM rolls d%, eyebrows go up** Him: Starts acting like he's casting a spell, mumbling something about "damned crazy female better get out before I die" Me: **pointing at him** I...wouldn't.....**intimidate check** DM: rolls check, says Congrats, he not only lost his spell, but he wet himself too... |
| Wall07-25-07, 01:23 PM | I'll tell you one that actually did work, from a Dread Necromancer to his Rogue "buddy": "I will kill you, I will animate you, and I will do terrible things to your body." Which the rogue took to mean... *Ahem* Yes, well. I can assure you that wasn't what the necromancer was going for. Or simply: Dread Necros usually pull off a death glare pretty well, too. The Necromancer actually intimidated the rogue so often that the rogue would comply by the mere threat of being intimidated. |
| Matthais77707-26-07, 08:46 PM | This is Great stuff!! I think there will be some PC's with soiled underpants in my campaign:evillaugh: So awsome... Keep um' comin guys! |
| cog_n_taz07-27-07, 05:00 AM | One from my necromancer to a prisoner, during interrogation. "Mister Oakhill", the fearsome figure spoke in a calm voice, an unnatural malice hiding behind his dark violet eyes as he drew a jagged obsidian knife, "Do you fear death?" The man known as Oakhill whimpered and shrunk away from the point of the knife. "Well then," the necromancer said with a smile on his face, "You'll be glad to know that you aren't going to die for a long time". And with that, he drew the knife across the man's arm, sending blood pouring from the wound, and drove it into his heart, yet not for a moment did it cease to beat. Your guess what spells were used, barring pure ebil, ofcourse.:D As for some rather less nasty intimidation, check out Bill the Paladin (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?p=13208216#post13208216), my pet project over on the CharDev boards. Read his backstory, and then scroll down to post#26. Definitely not evil, but certainly intimidating, and it got the job done:) . |
| metalmayhem8011007-27-07, 02:30 PM | Best one ever. Druid walks up to any kind of Large or bigger guard and looks at him. Than looks back at the party and says "kill him", party pwns him. Druid reincarnates ogre, ogre rolls and gets goblin. Druid just pats the new goblin on the head and laughs. Actually happened in game....... |

Best not to have the victim too scared, they have to believe they will be better off by cooperating. The paladin. "Understand this, I will not allow you to treat an innocent this way. Now, or ever. Do you intend to return what you have stolen or do I retrieve it from your corpse?" |
