Voodoodoodoo 01-28-05, 08:05 PM	I've been thinking about this, and i wanted some input. When you have a character, they have X exp and if they have a level adjustment, they lose 1 full level's worth, right? So what is the exp value of a character with 0 exp? I ask because lets say my party has 5000 exp. I can make a character with 5000 exp. but if i wanted to make two characters, could they each have 2500 exp? could i make five, with 1000 exp? what would a fair penalty for additional characters? the only thing that comes to mind for this concept is the Ginyu force, but you understand what i mean. input?
Callista 01-29-05, 09:53 AM	What do you mean--you want to make multiple characters for a game? Don't do it... one character per player. If that's not what you mean--clarify, please.
Board_Rider 01-29-05, 11:34 AM	I agree, only one character per Player. There is no "If I have 5000XP to create a character can I make two with 2500XP to start?" That is unless your DM allows it. Now, when you are talking about Level Adjustments (LA) and Character Levels, you do not "lose" levels. You still begin the Character(PC) with 0 XP and 1 level in a Class. You are treated as a second level PC though and need 3rd level XP to advance to the 2nd level in a class. For Example, we'll use the Tiefling race out of Forgotten Realms. It has an LA of +1. So.... Tiefling Rogue 1st level has a CR of 2 and would need 3000XP to be a second level rogue. Thats how i play it. Of course there is an Alternate table found in the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting Sourcebook. In the races Chapter. Hope that helps.

So if I start a new party at 1st level, no tieflings allowed, cause otherwise that tiefling would be much more powerfull than the other players 'cause he has an ECL of 2 while the other players (for instance elf rogue 1) have ECL of only 1. For multiple characters: i as a DM would not allow this.

For multiple characters: i as a DM would not allow this. I completely agree. Using this "type" of character within a party, I would begin my campaign with every PC beginning at level two. However a Tiefling(or any other LA+1) isn't that powerful. When the PC's have third level class/feats/skills/HP this guy will be 2nd level. Just a matter of opinion.
Callista 01-29-05, 12:22 PM	We have a guy in our group who insists on playing two characters. It's annoying... because we often have as many as eight players... and with that many people, an extra character just takes up extra time! But then, I'm not the DM in that one, so I can't do more than suggest. *sigh*
