| DragonDeadite07-18-06, 12:51 PM | Alright, so my party just recent got ahold of an Iron Flask (Major Wonderous Item, allows you to entrap a extraplanar creature in it and make it do your bidding) and we're currently at odds about how to use it, or even if we should should use it. My character is a LG Favored Soul, and the idea of using the flask just seems wrong to him, as in effect you're uprooting a being, and forcing them into servitude for you. Seems like slavery to me, and one of a very bad kind too. My character thinks that getting rid of the flask is the best idea, as we've also found out there is a Succubus in there at the moment as well. However, the halfling rogue wants to take the flask for himself, and actualy... well... Pimp the succubus out to others. Then, once she's gone or whatever, he wants to use it to summon other creatures to do his bidding and use it like a weapon of sorts. As a player I can see how nice that would be... summon a nice big demon and unleash it in the middle of a fight, but again, the whole slavery thing is too much for my character. Is there any way anyone can see to use the Flask that wouldn't make it seem like an unethical thing, that maybe there's something I'm overlooking in the description? Or am I just being stuffy and should I let the halfling take it and ignore what he's planning on doing? |
| Planar Wanderer07-18-06, 01:58 PM | Well the first hting is to get rid of the succubus, quite how you do that depends a bit on the rogue but first find something to get that succubus back to where it came from, then, hang onto the flask until you end up in a fight with an LBEG Extra-planar creature and use the flask as a prison to keep it contained (bonus points if you actually manage to use it on a BBEG but the will save is probably a bit low for that), you don't have to force anything to serve after all, that's merely given as an option, so you can then take the Iron flask stick behind wards or just drop it on another plane if you really want to, this has the advantage that if you pick your guardians of the flask carefully the B/LBEG won't be coming back in a hurry nad can't be true ressurected. |
| DragonDeadite07-18-06, 02:02 PM | ....Wow... that's actualy a good idea, especialy concidering one of the brutes we're gonna be up against is a Half-Fiend (damn WoTC for posting that Template!!) so maybe we can use that on him... hmmm... I'll have to try and research that! |
| Solian07-18-06, 03:18 PM | Maybe you could get A willing creature into it? they may just like the experiance, say their studying humans or adventuring or something like that, or they want to increase their knowledge or something. Thiers always stuff like that. |
| Cifer07-18-06, 03:29 PM | The iron flask is quite practical in the "stuff it away, we'll deal with it later" sense. Does anyone think "ghostbuster" here? Also, I'd expect it to be a nice way to smuggle a celestial into places which usually keep out such beings. Come to think of it, you might use it for that end yourself if your campaign lasts so long that you attain outsider status as a favoured soul. Oh, and finally: It is generally not advisable to pimp succubi. Especially to customers who insist on kissing. |
| DragonDeadite07-18-06, 03:57 PM | Ooohh... nice idea!! NPC:"Only one may enter." PC: "Okey-dokey!" :steps aside: "Pst! Jhovan(me)! Into the bottle!" Me: "Yup!" :into the bottle he goes: Later BBEG: "Ha! I have you now!" PC: "Uh... yeah, whatever!" :opens the bottle: Me: "Surprise!!!" |
| Salty_Boy07-18-06, 04:32 PM | Is there any way anyone can see to use the Flask that wouldn't make it seem like an unethical thing... Yeah, beat the Rogue over the head with it. |
| DragonDeadite07-18-06, 04:44 PM | Yeah, beat the Rogue over the head with it. Hmmm... not quite completely unethical... but still a GREAT idea!! :D |
