| Minos_Vol01-20-06, 05:06 AM | my group brought in someone who had played with us from time to time, who does nothing but make min maxed barbarians (low INT high STR) with insane bloodlust for everything that moved, and insists on running his contrived campaigns which are either A: taken directly from movies, or B: taken directly from video games. (these aren't just overall themes, these are the same thing with a vaguely differant setting, and differant names, which are useually a parady) he presented one of his campaigns as "It's 'shadow of the colossus'..." There wasn't anything else to that, he just wanted to run a D&D campaign ripped straight from the game, without a story. We were just a group of min-maxed adventurers who decided to kill big giant monsters. This is a group who's sick of hack-and-slash, and had had almost entire session with nothing but role-playing and in character drama. I can't stand role-playing with this guy, his campaigns are bad, his characters are bad, and what's worse is that my group agrees, but still refuse to stop calling him for sessions and playing his recycled story lines. I'm not sure how much longer I can take dealing with this guy, he's not even a very nice (or good for that matter) person! So every time he shows up it's an argument (not that I lose them, he's not exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer, but it's still irritating) what should I do? our DM keeps calling him, and I just can't play with him! |
| Vennettai01-20-06, 05:55 AM | dude i had someone who was vary similar he railroaded the entire group. with his gay stories that were insanely to complex so much he should have just wrote stories and read to us. he always switched up house rules. and buy god when he got unearthed arcana it was over(i think thats the book) he was an ******* to most of the group. he would tell people they were great for playing a girl one minute and then call them imature for it the next. when he played a charecter he would try his damnedist to make a broad do what you want campaign into an its all about me fest. anyway what we did was tell him to fudge himself. and he did now your guy may not be a complete a** but if he aint he might be able to change just sit down and talk with him and make sure he knows the whole group dislikes him or his ideas or whatever. but make sure you dont back him into a corner with it |
| HammerHeart8101-20-06, 06:46 AM | Best way as a group is bring it up with the player that his character is ruining fun for the rest of the group and that he should either start doing something original for his campaigns or just use moduels. |

| Radijs01-20-06, 07:22 AM | That was a bad suggestion v2099. OC problems can't be solved IC. You will just have to talk this over with your group and with the troublesome player/dm. Explain the problems you're having with him and try to work something out. |

| jasper01-20-06, 08:38 AM | Grow up, tell the dm you have problems with the goober, and tell the goober you have problems with both his play and dm style. And then decide to shut and play a game you now hate. Or don't play. Learn this. You will game less but you enjoyment of game will increase during the times, you do game. |

Why? They must have a reason. Dealing with that reason seems the obvious way to handle this. |
| celtredleg01-20-06, 11:25 AM | Talk to the rest of the group. There is some reason they call this guy. Sounds to me like he is definately not worth playing with. Is he a friend of the rest of them??? |
| Minauros01-20-06, 12:30 PM | Yeah, talk to your group first. Ask why they want to play with him, then ask if they would be willing to talk to the other player with you about his games. If there is simply no resolution to be had, beat him up. NO! That's not what I meant! I meant find a different game. Right! That's it. No, don't beat him up. That's just silly. P.S. No really, beat him up! P.P.S. Don't you dare! That's childish. P.P.P.S. Do it! P.P.P.P.S. NO! |
| Templetroll01-20-06, 07:42 PM | How about they invite him to try and make you leave the group? He's how they get rid of players they no longer like. or not, only you can know for sure. But consider the facts - they love roleplay and hate hack-n-slash, yet invite this guy constantly. They appear to know it bothers you but they still invite this guy. |

That's just it, I have told him, I have told the other players, and there are campaigns I truly enjoy that he has squeezed into. This isn't me just complaining, I've just run out of options. to everyone, thanks for the input. |
