| Gonko01-16-08, 04:07 PM | I'm a big fan of summon monster spells so I thought I'd throw this one out to all of you: When summoning a monster, you can summon the monster anywhere within the spell's range, such as right next to yourself or an enemy. If that's the case, can I just summon the largest creature available (e.g. a whale) and have it appear directly above an enemy so that it immediately crushes him? How would you rule on this matter if you were a DM? |
| Belkar01-16-08, 04:11 PM | It's been covered in many places around both the FAQ and Rules of the Game that you have to summon a creature into a like environment. This means (aside from summoning a whale out of water) that if you summon a creature who's natural mode of movement is walking, they have to be on the ground when you summon them. If their natural mode of movement is flying - you can summon them in the act of flying, in the air. |
