| BloodDragon02-06-07, 01:00 PM | Where is everyone’s Character (if your playing a campaign) at right now? Or at lest where did you last leave off if your taking a break. My Archivist/Wizard/Mystic Theurge: We had just finished tracking down a Gnomish Baker who had been poisoning town folk by putting pieces of dead people in his baked goods, and also had just recently made off with our Kensei’s ancestral weapon to a small old template dedicated to a God of fire and hate. I’m personally not so familiar with Grey Hawk history but apparently my character knew a good deal about it. Who knew? One inside the Gnome was waiting for us, he stated he just wanted to talk, but frankly most of party had quite enough of this little pest. He was standing in a room which from my vast knowledge in the arcane and divine could easily determine it was a summoning circle. None of us liked where this was going. On queue from one of my fellow adventurers I open up the initiate with a silence spell and the front liners charged into the room, we wouldn’t take any chances from this gnome. The endeavour when well… First the room erupted with fire and a very large fiery element looked down at us. The gnome looked as if we were screaming “Nooo!” It’s moments like this you just didn’t want to get out of bed. Two party death later and a brutal beating. The gnome escaped, the Fire Element was defeated using a special mace we recovered earlier in our adventure, and we recovered are Kensei’s sword. Sadly he was one of the two that bite the dust… The other was my appreciating-to-be. Thankfully we have a few cases of wine from a burned down tavern back at home base. We will be needing it next session. |
| TheChilliGod02-06-07, 01:47 PM | My Halfling Rogue has just reached the capital city of the country he's been travelling, carrying a bunch of human & ogre prisoners in tow. (Not literally, of course) He managed to secure the position for the job just before the rest of the party partook in a drinking contest (the party fighter got second place, the bard third equal). On the way to the capital city, the party was ambushed by a bunch of ogres, and a fire elemental. --- My Warforged Fighter in another campaign is still residing in a fortress city that belongs to the party samurai. The party had separated from their previous lord due to the samurai's beliefs that his lord has been replaced by the enemy. Two copies of our previous lord appeared in the north and south. They approached and started fighting each other. The 'real' one won, and the samurai swore back into his service. Speaking of enemy, a marching band of the enemy is heading towards the city from the east. Plans have been made to send volunteers to the nearby mountains to awaken the Tarrasque and bring it down upon the enemy. --- My Halfling Ninja/Wizard in the same campaign as the Warforged is at the enemy's own land, and has just returned from a mission regarding infiltrating a ruined Temple of Nerull and fetching some priceless artifact or another. Traps and undead abound, and having run out of spells quite a while ago, my halfling's feeling a bit useless. Despite jumping around the place and being generically awesome. After finding said artifact, the party argued over who would deliver it to their captain (assuming that whoever presented the artifact would get the sole reward) and then hastily beat it and returned to their base. --- My Water Genasi Wu Jen in yet another campaign had just met with the party in some town a few dozen miles south of Silverymoon in Faerûn, the party's aim was to get into a tavern reputed to be operated by a bunch of drow. Went in there, my Wu Jen ran out of spells about half-way through, but through fighting about 30 drow, one bloodhulk, three orcs, and a nabassu, they secured the basements below the tavern. |
| Elemental_Elf02-06-07, 02:36 PM | My Kobold Druid, Yapmak, had just finished paying off some bards to deliver a message to the Queen of the city, when he sat down for a good cup of ale at the local tavern. He knew the audience with the queen tomorrow would be a hard one, as he had discovered the Queen was quite the airhead and often jumped to unknowable and unreasonable conclusions which often ended with the deaths of many. So Yapmak decided to take the night off and relax in front of a soothing fire with a pint of ale in his hand. Of course this was not to be. As he was enjoying the fire and the ale, a Drow walked into the Tavern. She took one look around and spotted poor Yapmak. She sat down at his table and explained she was a guide and heard he was looking for one. Yapmak knew those blasted Bards couldn't and wouldn't keep their mouths shut, of course that's what he planned on. He needed a Guide, for the forest near the city. There were ancient ruins hidden away and Yapmak had made a promise to himself to raid each and everyone for every discernible piece of wealth contained with in. Then once he was done raiding, Yapmak would catalog each ruin for the book he was writing. After lengthy negotiations with the Drow, the two came to an agreement. He would pay the Drow 5gp per day and give her 10% of what he earns from the ruins. Of course the Drow was not completely trust worthy, Yapmak knew this, but for now their agreement would serve him well enough. So they set out into the forest to survey some of the closer ruins as to access their worth for the next day. Unfortunately the Drow got lost, surprising Yapmak thought but not unexpected, most people in this nation seemed more than a little absent minded. They stopped in a large meadow with a small well in the center. Yapmak, more than a little thirsty, went to the well to bring up some water to fill his empty water skin. Yet his hopes were once again dashed as there was no water in the well. And yet again fate intervened in his life. The Drow, over eager as usual, ran up and pushed him in the well. Fortunately the well was not very deep; in fact the well appeared to be an elaborate rouse used to disguise a portal! Yapmak called up to the Drow and told her to get down here; she complied but with more than her fair share of complaining. There was an inscription above the Portal, in Draconic. He read it aloud: “Through this portal lies the bane of all Elves. In the dark they toil. For their queen they live. For their queen they die. Enter at your own risk.” Yapmak knew the God’s would curse him for his curiosity and avarice one day, he just didn’t know he would be cursed to enter the Underdark… |
| Grognor02-06-07, 02:58 PM | Grognor, my half-human cleric of Olidammara, is helping to put back together a fledgling village after a...unique...ettin smashed most of the buildings (and important people). Most of my other characters have gone on to find great success in the land of Elune, my homebrew world. |
| JasonOrlandoHawk02-06-07, 03:14 PM | In a Forgotten Realms Gestalt Arcane Characters game (I'm the DM): The group has just returned from Skull Gorge in the Western Heartlands where they discovered that a group of Orcs, Hobgoblins, and Imps seem to be searching for a missing artifact that (apparently) belongs to the Knights of Silverymoon. Their senior officer (in the Harpers) has sent messengers to Silverymoon for information. In the meantime, they have been sent Northwest towards the small town of Daggerford to attempt to drive off several raiding goblin bands. They were just about to enter Baldur's Gate at the end of the last gaming session, which is (unknown to them) about to be hit by several powerful storms under the direction of an angry ghost. In a Homebrew Campaign run by my roommate (My Character: Alton Leagallow, Halfling Rogue/Sorceror-heading for Arcane Trickster): The (name currently unknown) bad guys have succeeded in slaying another dragon, and have moved out of the Desert region we had followed them to. They are presumably moving to a large forest south of the mountains to continue dragon hunting, and we are set to follow them. Before leaving, my character managed to survive "initiation" into the region-wide thieve's guild (practical jokes abounding, of course), and even turn one of the jokes back on the Guild by causing them to forget that one of my party members stole about 2,000 gold from one of them. My "son," an animated wooden doll (created by some fae), has recently taken taken to archery practice. "The Monsters Game" (Run by my friend Matt, homebrew, good-aligned monsters, purposefully humourous): The band of adventurers consisting of the Satyr Pirate, Centaur Druid, Necromancer Griffon (don't ask), Ogre Barbarian, Half-Celestial Shocker Lizard Arcane Trickster, and "Stealth Cow," or Minotaur Ranger w/ a penchant for James Bond jokes, have boarded their glorious ship "The Stampede" and set off for an undetermined location (largely b/c Matt had to stop running b/c of his current school schedule). When the game resumes, we will be chasing a murderous Werewolf that killed my character's adoptive mother. |
| SokenzanMarauder02-06-07, 03:51 PM | My Character: Faust VIII (Edward Cirle) Dread Necromancer 5 / Fighter 2 Currently the group is on my section of the story arch and is searching for a college of Necromancy that's rumored to be somewhere in western Amn (it's really quite dangerous to have a school of any kind of magic in Amn, let alone a Necromantic one.). The last time we got together the group met up with a Wild Elf that was thoroughly insane (fit well with my character actually, I'm a bit 'loony' myself) and he decided to follow us around for a bit. After meeting him we were attacked by a group of what I believe to be insane militant druids which we dispatched after a rather nasty scuffle. Following that we found an abandoned tower that was home to a duo of Mohrgs (a VERY difficult fight, we only survived thanks to liberal use of summon undead spells on my part). After exploring the lower sections of the tower we found nothing of worth, however, on the upper level we encountered a Carrion Crawler (Which I took out with a single strike from my Scythe. Yay Blade of Blood!) as well as a small horde of ancient coinage and some gear. And that's where we left off last time. -Gene |
| ToxicWiz02-06-07, 04:03 PM | Level 3 cleric of Khostren, nice to meet you. the sort of person the gnome baker gets his supplies from. He finished up at a blood-soaked hunters cabin, complete with corpses and a secret tunnel to Neverdead fortress, with a goblin Morgh (sp). heading to Neverdead fortress. not that scary, considering he just came through the forest of the dead, from the town of the unliving, right past the mine of death. (sorry, but I had to rant it somewhere). along the way a goblin rogue with no name decided to follow me on his Worg (first mission, gotta meet somehow right?) and a mentally incapable ranger, who he hired to guide him, for nothing :S. We come up to this cabin, doors ajar, blood trail, a plot hook dangling blatantly in front of me. In we go, armed with my little green meat shield. smell of rotting flesh, but my character likes that sort of thing, and three bodies. two of them attack us, and the fight takes a long long time (5 consecutive rounds we rolled no higher than 5  ) but we win. whip out the wand and we're set to take a look in the store-room, after we get the ranger to go home and inform someone (he had to go). just when everything going great, we're jumped by a wight. we vanquish him, and we find a trap door. through we go, and it goes straight to the castle. The mea- goblin scouts and finds a nasty looking caster, complete with skeleton friends. We buff, fully prepared, and charge the room. a rebuke or two, and spells galore, and two full curcuits of the room later, I'm paralysed, the goblins dead, and the Deathlock goes and gets his friend. He is offered a chance to live, if he helps big, armored and evil. He accepts, hey, he's evil too you know. he goes back to the cabin to lick his wounds, when the goblin gets back up... with no skin. turns out he was a murderer or something. Well... that was an interesting session. |
