I am along way along in the city of the spider queen module, and am nearing the wish spell with my drow sorcerer character. I don't particularly like her(the sorcerer), because I have like a 9 and an 8 for int and wis(so she is a ditz), and began wondering what I should wish for when I first gain access to the spell.

I figure since she has below average int and wis that I should waste at least a few wish spells on something stupid. She has like a 20 something in charisma though if that matters, and ranks in concentration, perform(massage), profession(Hair Stylist/Dresser),& spellcraft. Her spells thus far are all support & utility such as haste, teleport, bear's endurance, greater invisibility, ect., except for fireball(her only attack spell, long story there...) Oh and she worships Lloth. Who is gone for some reason(cant remember). Anyway our drow cleric of Lloth can't use her powers so we know something is up. We had a rouge(catfolk or something slave of ours) who is gone for good(we did all we could for him serious!), a barbarian(cant tell what race he is) and some other character(some kind of drow fighter or something) in our party.

Some of us are evil and some of us(I think I am, not sure) are neutral, but we aren't going around doing evil stuff(like burning babies and whatnot), we are keeping it low key becuase the last thing we need is a bunch of paladins running around smiteing us to peices. Its not like we tell everyone our real names and stuff too, and we only do evil crap when it really helps out our party. So far we have been pretty successful in stealing and whatnot while remaining unseen, and unknown. We are in a homebrew world...its kinda like the top right corner of the Farun big map, down and to the left to the mountains, if you know that area well. We spend alot of time on the surface, and we usually ignore the light sensitivity thing because our DM thinks that the +2 drow level adjustment is too high.

It may be awhile untill we game again, so I figured I'd ask what are some bad wish spells that an idiot or below average person might wish for that the DM could have fun convolting(which he, if I know him at all, will do). Normally this would make wish a bad spell to pick(for obvious reasons), but my character wouldn't know about that, and would want to make some superfulous, retarded wishes.
(note: I cant wish the rogue(catfolk) PC back to life, because his player is gone.)

I have thought of a few:
1. I wish I could naturally fly...
2. I wish I could use potions of repair...
3. I wish I were a better Fighter...
4. I wish Lloth would come back...
5. I wish I could see the sky(we are currently deep underground)...
6. I wish I could be beautiful forever...

I really like #2, because just think of the consequences! I could change into a flesh golem , or even something worse. #5 is a "cave in" waiting to happen.

I need something much stupider to wish for, but I cant think of anything else.

Ways I, as a DM, would probably twist these:
1. You turn into a fly, as baleful polymorph
2. Nothing happens except the xp loss for casting the spell. You already can use potions of repair...on objects
3. Become a 10th level warrior (not fighter), with the stats of a sorcerer, but no sorcerer levels
4. She does, and kills you for wasting her time (or possibly turns you into a drider)
5. The roof caves in
6. You turn into a statue

Some more dumb wish ideas a ditsy sorceress might make:
"I wish you'd make me a sandwich!"
"I wish I had 10,000,000,000 gold pieces!"
"I wish I looked prettier!"
"I wish it didn't take as long to do my hair every morning!"
"I wish I had a boyfriend!" (Jimmy appears. He's very cute. He's also 6.)

3. You turn into the most beauiful troll ever. You look prettier... to trolls...
4. Poof! No more hair! :D

What IS it with Wish and sandwiches?

My first exposure to that spell, back in 2e before I knew it existed, was when our resident lunatic decided to wish for a sandwich.

The result was a pristine BLT descending from the heavens. Immaculately constructed with just the right mix of condiments, it was also blessed such that it would never go bad, nor could any other being steal even a single bite of the lunatic's perfect sandwich. Not even animals or insects could lay a hand on it (this was in a forest clearing).

It was, inexplicably, the size of a city bus.

However, since the DM was a "screw character abilities" DM (actual quote from that game: "I don't care that you took Ancient Languages. You're a gnome. You know gnomish ancient languages, and thus can't understand these runes."), the Sandwich of the Gods came complete with a minor curse: The lunatic was rendered unable to eat anything else so long as this bus-sized sandwich remained in existence.

Effectively, this meant we did a LOT of adventuring in a very short radius around the sandwich, simply to keep the lunatic from starving to death. That forest got awful boring after the first week.

Took the bastard nearly a month and a half to finally finish the blasted thing.

By the way, worse than wishing for more wishes:

"I wish for no more wishes."

Imagine if the spell interpreted that as a self-destruct command. No more wishes for anyone anywhere.

I can't think of a single positive interpretation of that particular wish.

Looking at your character, the first thought that might enter her mind when presented with a spell that can do anything, would be to wish for a Party Dress.

I suspect she would even describe it in great detail since she has all those ranks in profession(Hair Stylist/Dresser).

She would forget all the other safety details needed for a Wish spells.

She might even raid a clothing store just to get some fabric samples and to see what the latest fashions are like..."Gotta get this perferct, you know!"

Some fun stuff, but presuming we're talking about 3.5, or at least 3.0, there are some... issues.
Essentially, a wish is a brute-force casting - _you_ grant your own wishes.
Also, some of the suggestions are quite reasonable, and thus should work out just fine.

From the top:

"I wish I could naturally fly..."

Baleful Polymorph to... an Avariel, for an example. LA makes it just harder to gain the next level... Of course, if one is nasty, one could go and turn into... well, a fly, or a bird of some sort--- or a bat. Still, it's actually reasonable.

"I wish I were a better Fighter..."

This is a tough one. Again, polymorph to a war troll would do. it's what you
could do with a lower-level spell, anyway...
If you _want_ to go for nasty, I guess switching your best stat to your
STR score might also qualify...

"I wish Lloth would come back..."

...Well, not knowing the setting that well, I can't sure how that'd go. If it's
during Time of Troubles... the question would be, "come back to _where?_"

"5. I wish I could see the sky(we are currently deep underground)..."

Teleport Without Error. Hopefully you have daylight adaptation...
Alternatively, some sort of Scrying object...

"I wish I could be beautiful forever..."

"Beautiful" is easy. "Forever, however... Okay, I can see turning to
an Adamantite Statue here.

Or, you get 'ported to a plane where there's no time. The Multiverse ceases
to exist before your beauty fades. Frankly, it's hard to think how this would
_not_ get twisted.

"I wish for a dragon sandwich! Ancient Red dragon cause its the tastyest! Yum Yum!
Actually,I wish for red dragon sammiches for every one!"

Hmm. I can see how you'd actually _get_ a red dragon sandwich.

Alternatively you might, once again get teleported to an Ancient Red Dragon
Sand Witch.

"I wish for all the knowledge of the universe to be stored in this small gem (find a gem) that only I may be allowed to use to pull any piece or whole amount of information from the gem when ever I desire..."

This _does_ go beyond the scope of Wish, definitely. You'd probably
end up gated to Far Realm or something...
Or, "nothing happens". Or, maybe every time you used it' you'd just
get the number 42...

"I wish I had 10,000,000,000 gold pieces!"
"I wish I had a boyfriend!"

I think these are also out of scope. ;)
Abuse-wise, I'd take benefit of the "had"...
Or, the expression "gold _pieces_" You get X amount of gold (whatever Wish
spell's maximum is...), as gold sand. (possibly all in miniature shape of gold coins.)

"I wish you'd make me a sandwich!"
Well, if the caster is the granter, then... Geas/Quest: "Make a sandwich to yourself."

"I wish I was back at home with my parents"

Once again, a perfectly reasonable wish... if your parents are alive. If they're
not, you're probably sitting with two corpses.

"I wish I didn't need to rest to regain my spells "

Since there isn't a mention of "ever again", I'd, considering one just spent
5000 XP, allow one to regain the spells used that day.

now, if it _were_ "ever again"... well, that'd be out of scope and messable.

"I wish you wouldnt grant me this wish."
...
I got nuthin'.
Maybe a bag of holding place within a bag of holding effect, or something.
Or just a fizzle.

Or, the _caster_ would BSOD, or spontaneously combust...

Anyway, the point being... some of the things were actually reasonable.
After all, using a wish spell to change one's spell selection is also a valid use...
the Simbul even gained a permanent Shapechange power out of.. probably,
multiple Wish spells.

You gotta think of it in a DM contorted wish way! A BAT-man....what a messWell, why not? You can cast ninth level spells, may as well load up on special abilities from the vampire template instead of the last two or three levels before epic. Drow are already supposed to be evil and you'd be free-willed, so not much of a mindset change. ;)

No, that's just too acceptable for this situation. :P

On second thought, at the point where you can cast wish you might already be more powerful than batman, so the DM might let it through and nerf you.

I'd wish for a better 9th level spell.

I see the thread died. eh, I guess I won't be playing as soon as I'd like to, because our group sorta dissolved. Oh well. That leaves time for other things, like my new webcomic! Check my sig for the site if your board.

I'll work on it as often as I can! I'll try to get the blog and the message board up asap! See you soon!

ps. comic 12 is hilarious...just wait one day for it OK!
