If a character has ten levels of monk, complete with the lawful ki strike ability, but then turns chaotic, what happens to the ki strike? Does it become a chaotic ki strike? Does he retain the lawfulness due to his disciplined training? I'm under the assumption that he retains all his previous monk abilities and therefore would still possess a lawful ki strike. If so, would it be out of line to change it to chaotic?

A monk who becomes nonlawful cannot gain new levels as a monk but retains all monk abilities. It would thus appear that the monk retains Ki Strike (Lawful).

I personally would not allow the change for no reason. He's given up the ability to advance in the class, wqhy should he be able to modify the class features? If he goes on a quest to prove his dedication to the ideals of Chaos, then I might allow it as a reward. But I'd make him work for it.

Kinda.

I mean if you're the DM, you can let it change to whatever you want, but usually Ki Strike (not lawful) is worth a feat. See also Holy Ki Strike.
