| Angelkiller01-02-06, 07:02 PM | Hi my name is alex I have a kick A** character named monko. HE has a Large Size fullblade made possible by a Cool feat called Monkey grip. So now he as a 10 reach and does 3d8 damage and also the Im the only one in my group who can use. IT ways 56 pounds more than my friend the halfing. I would love to hear any one else kick a** characters -Angelkiller out |
| Kroska01-02-06, 07:19 PM | I currently ahve a lvl 13 ninja hamster. He was awakined by a druid. Crazy huh. Well he's got a hide bonus of +43 and a move silently of 31. He's dimutive size and not many can see him at all. The only way he does damage is with....sudden strike, which is the same as sneak attack and it's 7D8 with the improved sneak attack feat(DM said it was ok). So basically a hamster crawls up into your clothing and burrows into your brain. What's really fun is going etheral, jumping into a persons face plate(like a person wearing full plate) and then tunring it off and burrowing into their skull threw their eyes. Funny part is they can't get the face plate off. |

It let's you hold a LARGE size weapon in 1-hand, a fullblade is Huge. So Greatsword is the largest available. |

Just cause large creatures typically use this weapon doesn't grant you 10ft reach. The reason large creatures have reach is because their arms are longer. Fullblade doesn't grant 10ft reach |
| Morbid01-03-06, 01:13 AM | I'm a DM and I control ALL monsters, bad guys, and NPCs. I AM GOD! |
| Silverthumb12801-03-06, 02:02 AM | I have a Gestalt Paladin/Marshal with a Charisma modifier higher than the number of letters/spaces/punctuation marks in the post I am making. Not really, but that'd qualify. |
| Elemental_Elf01-03-06, 02:19 AM | Srry man, can't hold a fullblade in 1-hand even with monkey grip. It let's you hold a LARGE size weapon in 1-hand, a fullblade is Huge. So Greatsword is the largest available. I thought a Great Sword was a 2 handed weapon and thus unavailable for that feat. So the Bastard Sword is the last option, right? ~~ Ohh and Morbid prolly wins this fight, lol :P |
| ressurrector01-03-06, 02:46 AM | I thought a Great Sword was a 2 handed weapon and thus unavailable for that feat. So the Bastard Sword is the last option, right? ~~ Ohh and Morbid prolly wins this fight, lol :P Text of monkey grip from Sword and Fist: Benefit: You can use one melee weapon that is one size larger than you in one hand. You suffer a -2 penalty on your attack roll when using this feat. This feat can be taken multiple times, each with a different weapon. Normal: Only weapons of your size or smaller can normally be weilded with one hand not to mention that the Fullblade only deals 2d8 dmg. I am not aware of a 3.5 version of either the fullblade or the monkey grip feat. Edit: sounds like your DM is trying to mix 3.0 feats/weapons and 3.5 rules without paying enough attention. If you read sword and fist carefully you can see that the fullblade is HUGE, only useable by large sized characters, and can be used in 1-hand normally by them through a feat. Additionally it only deals the 2d8 dmg, not 3d8. What your friend is doing is similar to Cloud and his "buster" sword. |
| antiok01-03-06, 03:24 AM | i have a 5th level half orc monk with 3 18's (strenght, dex, wisdom) and 15 in constitution. downside is 9 charisma and 10 inteligence, so MEH BARELY SPEAKS GOOD! |
| Cold Napalm01-03-06, 03:41 AM | huge horn blade bastard sword is what you can use one handed if you had monkey grip. That is 1d10>2d6>2d8. Now if you went the greatsword route, it would be 2d6>2d8>4d6...kinda fun really. Monkey grip in 3.5 is in CW and it says you can use a larger size weapon at -2 since weapon size is back in 3.5. So think large longsword instead of using a greatsword as a large longsword. |
| NinjaE01-03-06, 05:34 AM | What your friend is doing is similar to Cloud and his "buster" sword. I seem to recall Cloud using his sword with both hands..? |
| ressurrector01-03-06, 05:44 AM | I seem to recall Cloud using his sword with both hands..? well, I guess Cloud didn't have monkey grip :P I have seen images of cloud swinging swords of ridiculous size with one hand, specifically in the FF7 OVA that came out recently. |
| tsuyoshikentsu01-03-06, 11:32 AM | I have a Cancer Mage. And an Artificer. And an Archivist. And a Dweomerkeeper. And a Warsling Sniper. I applaud your 3d6 sword that weighs more than your halfling. I applaud as my Cancer Mage smashes you with his infinite strength, as my Artificer blasts you into oblivion with his ten at-will magic devices, as my Archivist alter selfs into a choker and hits you with a hunter's mercyed arrow, as my Dweomerkeeper limited wishes you dead as a spell-like ability, and as my Warsling Sniper kills you with a rock from 750 feet away. I applaud as Pun-Pun watches, and laughs. Come back when you are worthy. |
| the burrfoot01-03-06, 11:53 AM | My character is a strongheart halfling bard 5/harper 2/harper paragon 10/wonderworker 1. Her name is Piffany Haleflower and she has a +2 holy longsword and 3 smite evils a day (and it's kick ass with my 26 charisma). I can do three attacks and I usually do a big combo where I use all three smites in one turn :D My fellow players love Piffany and her Words of Creation empowered Inspire Greatness :P My other character is Tobin Firefingers the strongheart halfling sorcerer 7/arcane devotee 5/exalted arcanist 5 he is kick ass with sanctified spells and a torc of vitality which restores his ability points whenever he uses a sanctified spell. He's got dreadlocks and is from Calimport :D He has a number of good spells on his list like righteous smite which I concecrate for a whomping 34d6 damage to evil creatures+blinding them for 2d4 rounds. I love my tobby and piffpiff:) |

| Ziggaraut01-03-06, 03:19 PM | A couple of things to say: 1. In 3.5 rules, a full blade is an Exotic weapon that does 2d8 damage, true. But full Blades cannot be wielded at all unless one has Profeciency in it, in which case it can still only be wielded two-handed. Also, It would upgrade to 4d6, not 3d8. Monkey Grip can allow a Large Full Blade to be wielded by a medium character, but, again, only two handed. Neither Monkey Grip nor Powerful Build, both of which allow wielding weapons one size larger then yourself, grants the reach of said size. 2. Please, Remember the XI commandment of Character optimization. Thou shalt not grant thine build a name with movie-related nor idiotic orgins, unless thou's build, be named Pun-Pun. 3. Remember please, The Bear warrior/Frenzied Berserker, of whom's prodigous Strength can arm-wrestle with the mightiest of Dragons, and beat them soundly. |

No, in 3.5, a full blade is already a Large two-handed weapon. With a special feature that a Medium creature with EWP: Fullblade can wield it two-handed. It's already Large, Monkey Grip is just another way to get to wield it. |
| Kresalak01-03-06, 05:23 PM | I have a Wizard/Mindbender/Ur-Priest/Mystic Theurge/Archmage. He casts Ur-Priest spells at CL 26th, and wizard spells at CL 25th. Before buffing. At level 20. And he gets level 9 spells from both lists. I have yet to actually have to buff with him. Oh yeah, and he spams Miracle whenever he fights clerics. He's cruel like that. And I have a Druid. Remember: It's not the base damage of your weapon, it's how many bonuses you can add to it. |

| Johnny Cache01-03-06, 06:34 PM | I'm currently playing a troll Paladin of Tyr 11/Servant of the Heavens 2. She has a belt of strength, an adamantine holy falcheon (and knows improved critical for it), and her mount is a dire elk (now celestial, thanks to a recent feat). You don't want to have either of them do a smite evil on you. |
| tsuyoshikentsu01-03-06, 10:02 PM | I would put my Halfling Paladin and his mount up against your troll and hers any day. Of course, this is a Strongheart Halfling Paladin 5/Beastmaster 2/Wild Plains Outrider 3/Halfling Outrider 10 with Dragon Mount, Natural Bond and, oh yeah, Devoted Tracker. |
| tharivol26601-03-06, 10:25 PM | you guys should take these to the CO boards and see how fast they are ripped apart, revamped, and make the ones you have no look like gimps. |
| Johnny Cache01-03-06, 11:14 PM | tsuyoshikentsu - Hm, interesting match-up, assuming we could figure out a way to trick two paladins into fighting. :D I think Tananda and Buttercup would most likely win, tho. If you really want to persue this, PM me; maybe we could cook up a "Celebrity Deathmatch" style story for the Creative Corner board. tharivol266 - I actually wasn't aiming to make a maxed-out combat monster with this chara. I did it for the fun of making something that's the total opposite of what people expect of a troll - she's intelligent, self-disiplined, cultured, charismatic, and even kindly (well, except towards evil) ;) . She's a hoot to roleplay, especially when our party goes somewhere new. Did I mention she's earned the titles "elf-friend" and "fey-friend"? |

| Tempest Stormwind01-04-06, 12:39 AM | Johnny Cache: Yeah, you just challenged the Supermount!. If you fight the Supermount! you should be aware that his mount is better than you will ever be, and he himself is a passable warrior to boot. We're talking EPIC GOLD DRAGONS as a special mount here. Wyrmlings, yes, but wyrmlings with better hit dice than ancient wyrms. I have a level 12 kobold egoist. Doable at level 5, you know. By the way, I make this claim now, with almost total conviction in the truth of this statement: If the DM plays by the rules, then Pun-Pun can defeat the DM. That is, I am all but convinced there is no way to take down Pun-Pun without relying on, essentially, your DM saying "Rocks fall, everybody dies." Oh, for an example of a LOW-powered diverse CO build that most people here will find interesting, expand my sig and look at the Lancer. |

| Tempest Stormwind01-04-06, 01:14 AM | Couldn't the DM just say "No Forgotten Realms Material" and therefore disallow Pun-Pun? I mean, unless disallowing Forgotten Realms is against the rules.... However, in a situation like that, Pun-Pun does not exist. And thus he cannot exist to play in the first place. (Or, if you follow another twisted argument, he DOES, and just needs to cross through the Shadow plane to arrive.) This is akin to saying "We play without the DM." in the context of this argument, since it renders an assumption (that both exist) moot. |

Nice twist of a great character. |
| Tempest Stormwind01-04-06, 01:00 PM | Buttercup? Why not Gleep? Nice twist of a great character. 'Buttercup' was universally decided by the CO boards to be the best name for a Dread Necromancer. Think about it for a minute. Then, someone -- I forget who -- actually drew her up, with a pretty interesting backstory to boot. |
| Gurthoron01-04-06, 01:11 PM | Well, this pick through my list. Beleg Valar (cookie to anyone who can figure out where I got the name): Were-dragon (then full dragon) dragon slayer. Incidentally, he used a Full blade as his preferred weapon, although his main damage came from hideous strength and the enormous number of bonuses he got against dragons. He would take out dragons CR 4 above his level without breaking a sweat. Not a real powerbuild (once get go into char op boards, it just goes out the window) but fairly powerful and fun. Then there was the Fallen Solar Rogue Gatecrasher lvl 4 deity. With hideous dex and cha (and gods get their cha to their AC) his AC was insanely high, and he had a divine ability that gave him a 54% miss chance versus any attack, spell, whatever. He had the spells sadism and masochism permanently cast on him, giving him a +1 to all sorts of things on the following round for every 10 points of damage he deals or takes on the current round. He was designed as a chain tripper, and this was combined with the sneak attacks of oppurtunity and a bunch of sneak attack dice. Finally he was a master alchemist, and carried around bags of holding full of exceptional quality alchemist fire and alchemical acid. These bags dealt 750D6 damage each, and the damage thus done then gave him a bonus to his attack rolls, skill checks, and saves the following round due to Sadism. He could walk untouched through a group of Paragon Solars, and in one circumstance bull rushed four Solars through a prismatic sphere. Kuni Renshi: Lvl 7 deity Wu-Jen, used epic spellcasting for buffing purposes. Had an intelligence in the 80s, and had the entire party buffed with all stats improved by at least 20. Plus, he had 40th or so level spells, and lots of metamagic feats to apply to said spells. Tauren fighter-type diety 4: Strength based fighter with VOP and a hideous diplomacy score. He literally went and talked the Defiants into respecting, if not worshipping, in gods. He also could do insane subdual damage, and stun people every round with every attack. In 1on1 melee, he was practically unbeatable; he soloed a hecatoncherie at lvl 27. Now please note none of these are really optimisized characters, just very powerful ones. The only truly optimized one I have is a monk1/cleric2/Master of Shrouds6 who can summon multiple shadows with a wave of his hand and has persistent Divine Power, Righteous Might, and Mass Shield of Faith. Fully buffed his str is 26 (I only gave him 12 base) and he does decent melee, in addition to his spellcasting and his summons. If he wanted to he could probably lay waste to the rest of his party without undue difficulty. |
| Johnny Cache01-04-06, 05:59 PM | Tempest Stormwind - An epic gold wyrmling, eh? INteresting... I'd better buy some more magic items to equip Buttercup, then. :P How's this sound for a reason for this fight to happen: Tyr Himself transports the four of them up to Valhalla and tells them: "It would be very educational for the Einherjar to watch you 'spar' a round. Please begin." ressurrector - Always good to meet a fellow Asprin fan. :) When I made the chara, an assassin just plain wouldn't fit the party, and we already had a rogue. (btw - can you imagine a troll rogue? :D) Illithid13 - Glad you like the chara concept. :) I picked the name "Buttercup" because I thought such a dainty name would sound bizarre on just about any Huge animal. (My DM picked the species, I was hoping for a dire rhino.) If you'd like to know Buttercup's backstory, click here (http://www.johnnycache.net/moonshine/buttercup.php). |
| SnowbearK01-04-06, 11:34 PM | By the way, I make this claim now, with almost total conviction in the truth of this statement: If the DM plays by the rules, then Pun-Pun can defeat the DM. Rule Zero is still a rule, y'know. :D Besides, can Pun-Pun defeat himself? For such a contest, it all depends on who started the Pun-Pun track first, which of course, is the NPC. DM wins. :P |

For such a contest, it all depends on who started the Pun-Pun track first, which of course, is the NPC. DM wins. :P Actually, the contest tends to follow some rules (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=563122), which you pretty much have to agree are stacked AGAINST Pun-Pun, because quite a few block his deific senses. Rule 3 of that contest essentially removes Rule Zero from the equation. Note that I did not make that thread, and those rules were not written by me. Caros and a few others are the most recent band of gamers to try to take him down. |
| SnowbearK01-05-06, 02:53 AM | Ah, didn't realize there was an actual contest going on. :D Luck to all in that endeavor. |

| Tempest Stormwind01-05-06, 11:54 AM | I thought someone made a build just to kill Pun-Pun. I remember something about it going back in time to kill Pun-Pun's parents... Which doesn't kill him after his ascension, or even kill HIM (since it kills an ancestor) but instead causes a paradox (if Pun-Pun didn't exist then there'd be no reason to develop time travel and go back in time to kill kobolds). Plus, although it changes history, it assumes there's only one kobold doing this stunt, and it doesn't preclude others from having reached it when he returns. (Imagine if a horribly, horribly evil kobold would have figured it out, but Pun-Pun beat him to the punch and killed him before he could ascend. Then, when this guy -- dubbed "The Terminator" -- returns, he'll find that this evil guy could have ascended and the Terminator has no home to return to.) I thought I mentioned there were two builds that came close. This was one. The other is a level 4 elf artificer who jumps off a cliff and gets infinite skill checks -- not arbitrarily high ones, but truly infinite ones, instantly -- and uses the infinite Knowledge to become omniescent and the infinite Diplomacy check to manipulate the gods into doing his bidding. It truly is a brilliant trick -- but it still only works pre-ascension. |
