| the skilled fighter01-04-06, 07:27 PM | im a 5th level rouge trying to become an assassian but the leader of the assassians says i have to kill "Lot" the leader of the orcs who have been terrorizing the 3 human cities my plan is to sneak in as an orc and kill him in his sleep turn invisble and leave i have 2000 gp and the costume for a orc souldiers |
| SupercrazyDM01-04-06, 07:36 PM | My advice is that you sneak in the orc cmap with a ring of polymorph, a hat of disguase ect........ Invisibility is a common spell really so the orcs have a better chance to have a wizard to decect if not see invisiblity while disguising yoourself they can't be sure exactly sure who is the person in disguise. |
| Grier01-04-06, 07:37 PM | Never mind. |
| Morotis01-04-06, 08:32 PM | If you don't already have a hat of disguise, get one! Then observe the orc encampment from afar. Most Orc leaders have some kind of assistant, a cleric or a tribal shaman, someone who is very close to 'Lot'. Kidnap this guy and use you Disguise kit, Hat of Disguise, and bajillion ranks in Diguise to make yourself look like him. Steal his out fit and then kill him, leave the body off in the woods. Go back to the Orc encampment, Sneak attack the Orc foo' to bits and high tail it outta there. Remember to grab something of his to prove you killed him, his sword, his tribal staff, his Orc leader Head garment, etc... |
| the skilled fighter01-04-06, 10:27 PM | the shaman died and my dm thinks a hat of disguise only gives a costume |
| Colmarr01-05-06, 12:21 AM | Then tell your DM to open his books and actually read the relevant rules: Hat of Disguise: This apparently normal hat allows its wearer to alter her appearance as with a disguise self spell. As part of the disguise, the hat can be changed to appear as a comb, ribbon, headband, cap, coif, hood, helmet, and so on. Faint illusion; CL 1st; Craft Wondrous Item, disguise self; Price 1,800 gp. Disguise Self Illusion (Glamer) ... Duration: 10 min./level (D) You make yourself—including clothing, armor, weapons, and equipment—look different. You can seem 1 foot shorter or taller, thin, fat, or in between. You cannot change your body type. Otherwise, the extent of the apparent change is up to you. You could add or obscure a minor feature or look like an entirely different person. The spell does not provide the abilities or mannerisms of the chosen form, nor does it alter the perceived tactile (touch) or audible (sound) properties of you or your equipment. If you use this spell to create a disguise, you get a +10 bonus on the Disguise check. A creature that interacts with the glamer gets a Will save to recognize it as an illusion. An orc is a humanoid, and thus the same "body type" (some might argue otherwise) as a human. You can definitely assume the shape of an orc. Whether you can pull off the Disguise check to get past the orcs is another question, though... |

This is supposed to be some kind of test, a proving ground for your character. You want to succeed because you're up to the task, not because of a nifty magical gadget. But as Disguise and the sneak skilsl are a requirement for the PrC, using them in the entry exam seems about right. Sneak in (the Hide/Move Silently part), kill the king, cut off his head, plant it on a spear, if possible plant it on a pike outside of his tent, if not simply throw it out (the "evil" part). Now it's quite possible that a big brouhaha will occur. While his subjects are gathering, hide somewhere nearby and put on the Orc costume. Scream for vengenance (some grunts should be enough) and in the chaos that ensues, leave the camp. It's always good to take some additional preparations. A hiding spot near the camp (a cave or covered hole in the ground), some pepper to cover your trail (for the dogs). And do everything while the chieftain is sleeping (i.e. probably during daylight). No real need for magic or fancy equipment. A potion of invisibility is always good for a last resort, though. Poison, if you can get it. A one-use item of silence (bead, capsule, etc.) if you can't beat the chieftain with one blow or he has some guards. |
