08-27-06, 11:55 AM Wasn't sure where to put this, so here it shall go for the time being!

I was just wondering if there was some official source somewhere with words and phrases from some of the less common D&D languages, like there is for Draconic in the Draconomicon. Mainly, the Extraplanar ones like Celestial, Infernal, Aquan, etc.
I'm currently playing a Rogue worshipper of Asmodeus, and was hoping to use the odd phrase of Infernal to spice him up a little, but don't really have anything to base it off of. For the time being, I've kinda pilfered things from Enochian, though it's sorta viewed as a more 'celestial' language...

I think that would be a double-booted leap deep into the realm of dorkdom. If someone in my group did that I would throw dice at them until they stopped.

What I suggest instead is that you choose a real life language (for example, Chinese), study it and use that when you play, telling everyone that it is infernal.

......and you might meet a hot chinese girl someday, so it could be doubly useful. :)

So Terran would sound like grinding stones, Aquan like a gurgling sound, the air languare(don't remember want it is called) would be like whistling, and the fire languare would be a combination of gutteral pops and jaw snaps.

As for celestial, think hevenly choir.:)

And for infernal / abissal / demonic it would be something very Guttural and slightly resembling a tourtured soul screaming in pain.

So just make up some random sounds and tie them to phrases your character uses often... If you put in even a little effort to sound as if you know what you are saying, no one else will be the wiser.

08-28-06, 02:26 AM You might want to try Klingon, which is pretty well documented and has a lot of growly spitty curse sounding words in it.

I completely agree. Although I'd probably throw something bigger than dice... Like shoes. :evillaugh

But on a non-criticizing note, I agree with all the comments on using words from existing languages, and think you should do that.

...Or if your really creative, just sit down, and make up about 10-20 words that sound like your language, then just use different combinations whenever you want to say something in said language.
