09-25-06, 09:51 PM It seems next Sunday, my second game with the group I just joined, we are going to have to restrain someone.

I was talking to the DM after the game about stuff, and realized I had max ranks in use rope, and I thought about using my silk rope as a lasso and just try to drag her down and hogtie her.

While I'm pretty sure my GM is just going to have it be an attack role with the -4, I was wondering how others would think to handle it or request to have it handled?

Edit: The ablity for this rogue 8 fighter 4=12 to run to the store is nil.

09-25-06, 09:58 PM Back in 2nd edition, having ranks in Use Rope gave you the ability to use a lasso. Not so in 3.5 days. The upside is that it's a ranged touch attack, so her armor and shield (if any) won't help her.

Get a sap as well, in case you need to beat her into submission. It's much better than taking a -4 penalty for dealing nonlethal damage with a lethal weapon.

Another choice: net. It's an exotic weapon, so you'll take penalties for using it, but it's very good for trapping people.

09-25-06, 09:59 PM DC 15 use rope check to tie the knot ... melee touch attack (-4 sounds good to me) to hit the target with the rope ... then a "secure grappling hook" check (10 + 2 for every 10 feet thrown) use rope check to actually grab the target.

Or use a tanglefoot bag.

Or beat the target senseless with nonlethal damage, then tie him up.

I would just treat it as a net, except you can also use the trailing end of the rope to pull the target toward you.

(btw, is this that d20 Western campaign on Open?)

Who was to say that someone in your group didn't have the book already?

Or hell, go to B&N and copy the sats out of the book into a memo pad.

09-26-06, 03:20 PM I'm from Iowa, if I even knew what B&N was, we wouldn't have it, just corn and cowcrap.

And I know my DM has the book, and that may be what he's using. I was just intrested in varouis ways it could be handled, who knows, maybe someone has a really neat and usefull idea?
