| JaiaDrottsingr04-20-06, 07:51 PM | Pandora. Posedein. Atlanta. Apollo. Aphrodite. Hermes. Hephasetus. Even Athena. What if they were once real? Selth, the lost realm of mythology, home to these and more. Centaurs, the minotaur, Icarian flyers, the five hydras, the Fates. Characters are yet to have a purpose, and I just thought that this would be a cool idea for myths to live. I'd love to see some Egyptian influence as well, though. |
| Rny204-21-06, 08:32 PM | Pandora. Posedein. Atlanta. Apollo. Aphrodite. Hermes. Hephasetus. Even Athena. Would they be the same as we know them? Could we flesh them out more, to fill in spaces? Or are they like our own mythological figures in name alone? What if they were once real? Selth, the lost realm of mythology, home to these and more. Centaurs, the minotaur, Icarian flyers, the five hydras, the Fates. once again, what exactly do you see in these creatures? is man among them? This land of Selth, why is it lost, if we are to integrate it into the world view? If we are to isolate it, what would be the purpose of documenting it? Characters are yet to have a purpose, and I just thought that this would be a cool idea for myths to live. I'd love to see some Egyptian influence as well, though. Therefore, could we dump our own internally anachronistic myths of the Unnamed World there? Would Selth be locked in, or would new myths and legends spawn continuously? :raincloud: I"m not asking as many questions as I used to. |
| JaiaDrottsingr04-21-06, 09:35 PM | The mythical characters and creatures would be different, as I said, this is not yet finished, I just thought it would be a good idea. The gods would have Greek and Roman variants, each different from its counterpart, Though there would be only one Apollo. |
| the_one_true_shea04-28-06, 11:21 PM | changing locations, leaving meme for memory "many gods many faces .. how many" this could be a very elegant allusion... |
| JaiaDrottsingr05-07-06, 11:40 AM | Thank you. I am having trouble doing this, though. Most of Selth is an archepeligo and is a modge-podge of culture. I'd love to have a strong Icelandic influence, if anyone can help with this, I'd be extremely grateful. |
| JaiaDrottsingr05-07-06, 04:29 PM | The Spitzageddon archepeligo consists of five major countries spread out on the archepeligo, Atlantis, The Frost, Insira, The Challenge Islands (citizens seeking refuge from their own defenses in Sodin) and Siran, island of dangers. The continents are: Sodin, which consists of two countries, Soar, and Rindar. Flec, literally cold in the language of Iceland. Mainly consists of Tundra. The countries it holds are: ___Illan, where gnolls and orcs are frequently seen docile, has many savage races here, and two ettins. ___Manyspire, the last remnants of the original landscape, inhabited by dwarves, yet, as in many areas in Selth, their presence is unknown. ___Jahdis Kar, The homeland of Halffeet, the equivilent of the F.R. Lightfoot halflings. |
| JaiaDrottsingr05-07-06, 06:42 PM | More Selth stuff: The North Ocean is known as, "The Tundran Sea." Technology is common in five areas of Selth: The Beaches on Sodin Atlantis The Second Underdark Jhad Tel (not really in Selth, but the collapsed and now mechanical sun should count for something) Post Script Still requesting information on Icelandic culture, heritage, and language. |
| the_one_true_shea05-12-06, 07:11 PM | Goodness, I see! I must apologize Fen. You seem to have misunderstood. No worries. Happens all the time. This "sleth" is your world neh? The one you are making for your own purposes? your own? The reason I ask is that .. this whole WCP forum is actuall one cohesive world. OK, "cohesive." Its like the forgotten relms forums - all FR, no DL. Now, the forum you prolly thought this was is the one I mention in my sig "OR ...." that one. Thats the campaign workshop, and its a whole collection of worlds, and a whole collection of people who (like sulaco "the scribe" ) that love to poke at brand new worlds. This big ole WCP world is actually getting pretty elder actually. We (well Im relativly new) have all been working on this project for awhile (4 yrs). Its kinda like the "story game" where you have to keep running with what the last person added? Ever play that game. Ok, I ramble sometimes Fen. I'll be swinging by your story before too long.;) and you have fun at oxford! |
| JaiaDrottsingr05-12-06, 09:35 PM | No, it is not my world, I'm simply the one that is creating it. I'd love to show some ideas for this, but I don't have a scanner. The era of Selth is the Apocalyptic Age. Many consider the world ended. Immortals have died. Famine, drought, and poverty rule over kings. It's not my world. It's the characters' world. |
| the_one_true_shea05-13-06, 11:03 AM | Wait, so this is like Flecto's world? Eximplative? |
| JaiaDrottsingr05-13-06, 12:14 PM | Flectico? Maybe. The cause of the Apocalypse was the invention/discovery/revealing of the Passage of Time. Many have different theories. It's sort of like the Avatar crisis, but with the elements in jeopardy instead of magic. Psions in Selth are numbered as: One. Pluto's daughter, Alasarrin, the goddess of Ice and the Third sight. Titles: The Ice-Queen. The All-seeing-eye (the Egyptian god), The No-templed, the overseer of death. Status: Mortal. The main reason why I created Selth was her... The Ice of Time, The Other cause of the Apocalypse. |
| JaiaDrottsingr05-13-06, 12:16 PM | All I've done is create the landforms. The team will create everything else. |
| Rny205-13-06, 04:17 PM | Ah, so your characters has gained sentience and have managed to overwhelm your human inclinations, leading the emergence of Selth. It is not your world, it is the characters causing you to create this world |
| JaiaDrottsingr05-13-06, 04:24 PM | Yeah. |
| the_one_true_shea05-13-06, 04:39 PM |  You understand that Rny..??  :weep: :nonono: Umm, I must not have read closely enough... maybe after I edit that story....? it will all become clearer er.. umm? again ... Huh? |
| JaiaDrottsingr05-13-06, 04:51 PM | I'd just like to see a mythological world! |
| the_one_true_shea05-13-06, 05:11 PM | [patience] But.. Do you see that this world is already a world. The WCP forum is not a place to put "another world" It is not a place to put a world for someone else to use. It is aplace that is one whole world where all the elements work together. There is a forum that you can use to work on an isolated world. But As long as your here... "here" being "the wcp" I will attempt to incorporate your world concepts into the larger world we are working on. See? |
| JaiaDrottsingr05-13-06, 05:41 PM | ??? |
| Rny205-13-06, 05:56 PM | its all the fault of Jaia's characters, certainly, their quasi-magical abilities have trumped the mind of their creator, and left Jaia mentally disturbed and unable to grasp the concept of the WCP. |
| the_one_true_shea05-15-06, 10:56 PM | Read this (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=398059) it will explain what the WCP forum is for. Now, I am trying to explain that you're more than welcome to continue working with us here... but you have to be on the same page with the rest of us before I can continue in good consious. |
