| Slime Lord12-16-04, 12:03 PM | What would be a good way, and suggestions, for me to create my deities? I'm asking because I can name them for their races, be it human or whatever, but when it starts to the creation of the deities, I start getting stuck. It's not like I don't have a decent idea on what I would like to do with the deity, but I'm just having a difficult time on the organizing the deity. Anyone have any tips of suggestions on how to organize them when it comes to details and information for them? |
| DeVine12-16-04, 03:56 PM | I have the opposite problem! :D :P This is how I create them: 1. (and foremost) Group them: Evil, NEutral, Good 2. Races: Human gods, Elven gods etc. 3. Classes: Archer God, God of wisdom, etc. 4. Powers: What are the powers of the gods, miracles and such 5. Major churces i.e. Where is 'the god seated' e.g. what city worships him most 6. Most powerful avatars of the Gods, heroes perhaps 6. Books, prophecies, and such written by the most devoted folowers. Thats all I can think off in the moment. Hope it helps ;) |

The element of the god, or their elemental preference may have some influence on their personality. I mean a reclusive mountain god might seem pretty evil if he/she is willing to kill tresspassers mercilessly, much as the elves do in their forests. So to some degree I think the worshippers or populace that knows of this god would sculpt an image. Classes might not be adequate. A very powerful god might be known by many names over the races. Thinking about it the god may also appear to be one the race observing their presence . Like Karona in the Magic Storyline (excusing the fact she was a false god). Here again the element of the god, or their elemental preference may have some influence. The god of Wisdom may like to use some specific element to communicate with followers, or use that element as an affinity for their avatars . Powers ... thats dependant on alot of things ... in Magic usually the age of the deified being and if it is a real being of such said power. I think this depends on the god and their followers, what kind of manipulations are used to gain and maintain followers. Avatars and Emmisaries are usually elemental in the Magic world due to the affinity of the god they serve Thats true for most gods but there are sometimes rare RARE instances where these scriptures are copies of documents from the actual god themselves. Such tomes or artifacts of power are usually very sacred (and powerful). |

But, I have temporaily threw away my world and shove everything into my closet, deleted everything off the computer. I wasn't getting anywhere with anything. I couldn't ever get a "God of" sort of thing started and let alone make a Clergy or map of land. But all of these are ideas I am considering using :) |
