The Hibyrn

The Hibyrn are black, red, and white dragons. They were extreemly common before the coming of the riz-ira. Tri-elemntals they were advanced in intelligence, and rife with powers.

More civil than most dragons. The Hibyrns formed cabals of like minded adults. Similar to study groups. 10-30 Hibyrns sharing similar interests often gather to study and share stories. Even social to the extent of seeking out the sites of dragon plauges for "new recruits" for their groups.

These dragons are the hatchlings of swamp dragon eggs :b: laid in :r: power zones at the tip of mountins (with lots of sky influence for :w: ) They are majestic and legends speak of them bringing knowledge to the mortals in the early times.

Curiousity is perhaps the word that best describes the Hibyrn. Insatiablly curious they are credited.. along with the Kaiser with nearly destroying the world. In fact most (who know) agree that unless the Riz-Ira is stopped the actions of these "failing dragons" will bring about an apocolypse of some sort.

In the time after Shen-La created the first riz-ira keystones the Hibyrn found one, then another. Shen-La had not planned this entierly carefully. Keystones had apppeared in a number of locations accross the world simultaniously. The Kaiser found one and brought it bear upon themselves, and theoir mortal allies.

The Hibyrn found two.. and thought they were using them to help their allies (pets perhaps a better term for their attitudes toward mortals). The keystones.. that seemed capable of miracles.. become more and more difficult to control.

At the same time the Kaiser were reaching the culmination of their catastrophe the Hibyrn were just begining to realize their drastic mistake. Some sought out the legendary Shen-La for aid in controlling the willful Keystones. None were prepared for the Kaiser's failure.

The backlash from the Kaiser failure wrecked havok on all the lands that had begun to access the keystones. The hinterlands, the kaiser desert, the ... (other stuff/etc) all warped by the scalding touch of divine retribution. The Hibyrn believed the gods were attepmting to destroy the keystones. Those Hibyrn that survived (many had been attempting connected eldritchly to the kyestones.. their insatiable curiosity driving them to study the stones.. and killing them when the time came) the second fall mostly came to a decsion.

"Mostly" certainly not all. Not all the Hibyrn are lost, but their once noble colleges are no more. Those that remained "Hibyrn" have left. Sought the answers to the questions of the keystones in the skies beyond the god shell. or deep in the heartlands .. birthplace of Shin-La.. so they say.

The "Hibyrn" that remain have come to be known as the Hibyrnese. They are as powerful as their ancesters. Not scarred and cursed like their cusins the Kaiser, but the Hibyrnese are noted as "changed dragons" no longer driven by curiosity. No longer banding in groups.. no longer seeking out their "recruits" .. the Hibyrnese dragon is more like its simpler cousins.

Territorial, greedy, and though the Hibyrnese dragons remains one for mortal pets.. they no longer seem to have a natural tendancy to join other Hibyrnese in associations.

Perhaps once the "Lost Hibryn" return.. perhaps the Hibyrn will never return.

The Hibyrn
These dragons are the hatchlings of swamp dragon eggs :b: laid in :r: power zones at the tip of mountins (with lots of sky influence for :w: ) They are majestic and legends speak of them bringing knowledge to the mortals in the early times.

How are the Hibryn brought from the 'low' land of the swamps to the moutain tips? simple will to experience new things? is this achieved even as the dragon is within the egg, or do the parents care for it and bring the egg to the heights? Wouldn't the sky be :u:, though? Maybe it's under the sun/moon that the egg is hatched, and so that unreachable force delves into the mind of the developing dragon.

Curiousity is perhaps the word that best describes the Hibyrn. Insatiablly curious they are credited.. along with the Kaiser with nearly destroying the world. In fact most (who know) agree that unless the Riz-Ira is stopped the actions of these "failing dragons" will bring about an apocolypse of some sort.

an apocalypse of virtuous sin. The dragons can hold nothing back, so what stays the insanity of knowledge that such longevity, persistence, and virtue would bring?

The apocalypse, why would it be allowed to occur? Are the greater benevolent forces unable to act in the material realm, staying the lives of their worshipers and potential converts? Does the riz-ira apocalypse have a purpose, other than punishment? harsh times could be seen as a test to cleanse the people, with those that are repentant for their forebearer's sins adapting to a 'less world.

Shin-La seems like one to create and forget. Like a mad scientist of sorts, or like the sarukhs of Faerun. She was simply consumed by the act of creation itself, apparently. We need more about Shin-La, heir to the creators.

How does a creator fill the role of fixer? some never admit the flaw in their creations, so fanatically do they adore the product of their work.

Gods, seeking to destroy the keystones. a threat to even the gods, these products of Shin-La are, eh? diffusion of divinty, channeling and controlling it.

Do dragons always look up, with the slightest hint of peripheral vision to care for the mortal races? Who's to say where one should be looking.

Wanderers by heart now, like rangers trying to 'return to nature.' the call of the wild, the call of redemption.

'ese seems to denote more, trading quality for quantity? consistent power, so less widely spread/ power is spread over less area?

Recruits, do the Hibryn hold the secret to breaching one of the layers between the creations, the Kaisers the other?

Who are these simpler cousins? Dragons have never been simple in this world.

Yeah, no wait, umm.. I thought of the Hybern as being another group that had been working in a similar magical way with the riz-ira. The keystones were many I would think.

So currently there is the Hybern, The Kaiser, the Niter, and the Lords of Demise with a strong connection to the riz-ira problem. I think there should be a few more groups connected to such a wide spread event.
