| Erilev10-05-06, 10:51 AM | Hi! I would like anyone who reads this to post at least one thing that could be integrated into a castle. The castle nitself will be three levels, and I want it to be full of cunning traps. it should contain a barracks, 2 stables, and has a 30 foot wall, which is 8 feet wide. I want the traps, and any other cool ideas that any of you might think is cool, to be designed for swift killing of any attackers. The traps must be able to operate by one man, or be automatic (they can be magical by creation, but you must state the conditions of activation in your post) The castle characteristics must be hard to get around, and I will try to piece all of our ideas together to create the ultimate fight scene in my story, which is currently in progress (called The End of Everything) please post any ideas that you have, and I will reply with any problems or errors. thank you |

Maybe the foundations themselves are sinking, and the disturbance cause by the "end of everything" will cause the swamp to consume the entire castle. Various elementals and even a few toads (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=7485254&postcount=5) devoted to Xochu/ Cobe also dwell within, created by an older race of proto-merfolk who lived here when the area was completely swamp. Perhaps they were the ones who built Dunsvale Castle, and the present inhabitants moved in later and bred with the proto-merfolk, so now the castle's guardians are the victims of tainted bloodlines (Shadow over Innsmouth) and ancient curses. |

| Erilev10-11-06, 02:17 PM | Thanks for replying! I love the idea of the marsh/swamp, but I can't put the proto-mer people in, it would mess the plot. I was thinking more along the lines of Kel'rith. These are six feet tall ape-like beasts, with sharp, bony skin. They have long claws, secreted with deadly poison, and thier teeth are powerful enough to crush bone. Their faces resemble those of humans, but with a squashed(flattened) nose. They peer out from jutting brows, their slitted pupils residing in the dirty yellow orbs of their eyes. They can use weapons, but rely on their claws and teeth. They are also emensly strong, but not very swift. If you know d&d, they are like a modified version of a bugbear. :teach: |
| Rny210-11-06, 06:55 PM | Yay for Races! Anyways, can you tell us a bit more about the Kel' Rith? Where do they live, what kind of society do they haves, etc., just to make it easier for me to piece them into Dunsvale Fortress. |
| Erilev10-13-06, 10:31 AM | ok. the Kel' Rith are a brutish society. The structure is not to complicated, for, like goblins and orcs, they only have connections to their own tribe. They are constantly warring against the other tribes, and the only time they are united is when a foe big enough to threaten more than one tribe appears. They tend to live in desolate places, such as swamps, marshes, bogs, and in dark, gloomy forests. The forests have to be very damp, the kind of jungle that you hack your way through. Kel' Rith are very aggresive creatures, and although they can think, their capacity for the action is quite limited. They will attack up to 3 times their number, and still come out with victory. They can lift and throw a heavily armored man over their head easily, so they are very strong. Their only dissadvantage in battle is their lack of speed and their ackwardness(don't know how to spell it lol). |
| the_one_true_shea10-23-06, 03:54 PM | Where did the Kel' Rith come from? And how did they come into possesion of a complicated mechanically trapped fortress? |
| Erilev10-26-06, 01:30 PM | the Kel'Rith are from another plane. They came through two thousand years in the past, when one of the gods was destroyed and his plane merged with the one where castle is. They do not posess the castle, they are just part of the surrounding areas The castle is still empty, as I haven't created a bad guy for my story to fit the fortress. |
| Erilev11-03-06, 10:39 AM | I have come up with the owner of the castle. It is Draanik (dray-nik), an evil lich scorcerer. He buyilt the castle with his magic abilities. He lives in the third floor of the castle, and only his personal servants (he uses evil minded humans to do his bidding) are allowed to eneter this floor. The rest of his minions are the undead, monsters from all over that gather at the fortress. Not surprising that he has numerous Kel' Rith in his service. He even has a few vampire captains, along with a Demon General. |
