The Elemental Elves are a great idea. I'm wholeheartedly willing to see them added to the game table. Maybe even make Elemental Gnomes for the sake of flavor. Gnomes are far too often given short shrift IMHO.

But anyway...I'd like to start a thread about elemental spells that have been created by the Wizard's.Community readers. Feel free to post spells that are element specific that you wouldn't find in any of the WOTC source material. My hope is to foster a list of spells specific to an elementally focused race. If the Elemental Elves/Gnomes/Etc...were to suddenly appear in our world, what kind of spells would they bring with them? Name your element. If it's Air only spells, let's hear it. If it's Fire and can be substituted with another element, I'd like to hear about it. I'll be gathering a list of spells for use in my games and hopefully WOTC may consider publishing an Elemental Magic addendum to the Spell Compendium. I'll playtest anything and let you know my response.

:tiphat: This is deffinitly a very important thread.

For one thing, the M:tG setting is going to rely on specific and creative instants/spells when it comes to the races. So there is lots of space to create something like this:

---
Kaburi Fire Dance :r::r::r:
Spell

All elves gain +2/-1

The Kaburi Sing the Songs of Destruction, and Dance the Dance of Death.
---

But getting back toi D20 (my speciality):

I think one of the first things we should do is make a list of "mana spells"

Mana spells are spells that can be flavored for any element.

Examples:

Resist Elements - This is already a "mana spell" - but in our world the spell could be tagged to color instead of "frost"(:u:) and "shock" (:w:).

"Magic Weapon" ... becomes "Mana Weapon" The damage is treated as damage of the mana type. I've done this before and it seems to work - first we tried just to use the +1 damage as the damage of type, but that really gets into minutia. Its easier to say that the mana weapon spell makes the weapon deal damage of type (+1) similar to align weapon.

are we referring to the four main elements or are we going to incorporate light and dark as elements too?

Keep the spells to the basic FOUR elements. Exclude Shadow/Light/ and Force.

Thanks.

p.s. Keep thinking "Elemental Gnomes"

I think that its best if we do include the chiascuro element - because of the mana connection. Basically - M:tG has four elements. D&D has a variable number depending on who your askin on what world.

elmental gnomes.... elemental gnomes.. the first thing that makes methink of is coming up with the reason behind the "elemental races" like .... they were natives of the mana planes, but then something happened and they had to migrate to the prime material.

This is prehistory of course, the elemental races are also the races we currently have penciled in as "the eldest" - hmmmm, what if there were only 2 elemental variations of the gnomes left?

Wars, etc. Maybe drop one of the elemental elves to recipricate... hmmm.... I actually really like that idea. Dragons, gnomes, and elves.... born of the mana worlds. they made their way to the real world of all 5 elements due to... stuff stuff ...only the wind and fire gnome remain to this day, though the ruins of the great earth gnome cities can still be found.

Yes, yes, actually I think it was both... (easy one if you know the eastern elements ;)

wow, I feel like I should be able to give out a prize or something... anything I can get ya thats free?

.... hey! I made a mistake! (suprise) That last post should have started "Basically M:tG has five elements...." oops.
