| Garm09-02-04, 11:29 PM | Inspirations: Mongols, Huns, and Classical Amazons Description: The Trunga are an Oriental looking race of Humans. At adult ages most males stand anywhere from 5'2" to 5'11" and females a few inches smaller. The men and weak, and women well toned and strong. Culture: The Truna Clans are Matricarchal, nomadic, and warlike. The females train for war, feed the family, and go on great hunts while the men raise the children in a secondary camp. Female children are transfered to the female camp near the age of 12 or during their first period. (Whichever comes first) The Horse plays a very important role in the Trunga culture, with Riders and Horse Archers the very strength of the Clan. The Truna woman on a horse can only be described as Demonic. She is chaos and hate incarnate, swooping down to destroy her foes with ax, sword or spear. Religion: The Truna worship most of the Human Pantheon. Atleast paying lip service to those that differ in alignment. Their main Deity is Ghia an obsuce Demi-Goddess who represents the Idea of Truna Horsewomanship. Alignments TN, CN, CE Please add your comments and such :) |

| TolarianFlare08-06-05, 03:11 AM | Run for the hills its the Amazonian tall dwarven women. :P Honestly, how do they view and interact with races opposite to them in the male-female relations? Also how would they handle a dwarven male warrior in terms of relation? Being short , wouldn't their horses be more like battle ponies? |
| Garm08-06-05, 06:15 PM | I've decided to add some more to the write up with thes provided to me (and more) answered. Relations: Outside world: Truna are generally Zenophobic, ignoring other peoples. Choosing raid over trade when they need things from the outside world. Patriarchal societies clash most often with them, but they are not much more fond of peoples with gender equality (Though repressed males may, and have, secretly embraced or run away to these other lands.) Having no need for the under ground they rarely interact with races who make their home there. Females from other cultures and even other races who feel repressed by their own societies have ran away and found a home amongst the nomad women warriors. Truna may adopt these females if they display the proper lack of submissiveness that is rarely found in women from these 'weaker' cultures. Intertribal: Truna clans are very divided, at constant odds with each other. If one woman was strong enough to unite the clans the rest of the world would have much to fear. Warfare: Mounts: A tribe of Truna women is among the greatest small forces of light calvary in the land. Their warponies, all of which are females, are short stocky, and hairy well suited to the enviroment of the steppes. The Truna refer to them as Tikda (literally horses), a word adopted by the outside world to refer to the breed in general. While most stallions are eaten, exceptional ones will be allowed to live for breeding purposes. Still the Dame is much more important than the Sire, and the bloodlines of great mares can ensure the wealth of their owner's family for decades. A Truna horsewoman will set up a shrine in her home for a dead mount, extremely brave Truna women will have dozens of such shrines in her tent, and will be broke from buying so many horses, still there is a place of honor for these umong her kin. Weapons: The most feared weaponry of the Truna is the composite shortbow that they use atop their mares. These Rigza are made of native woods and sometimes bone. The Truna have many specialized arrows to choose from, making them even more threatening. When in close combat the weapons of choice are short swords, battle axes, and short spears. Though morningstars, longspears, and Greataxes are not unknown. A truna warrior wears light armors, favoring hides and leathers studded or not. Classes: All Truna raised in their own culture start as Barbarians, though many females take ranks in fighter for the extra feats needed to become the ultimate calvary women. Will post more later. More questions anyone? |
| Garm08-08-05, 07:41 PM | Fraht looked down to his granddaughter as she insisted “Tell me again Grandpa!” The old man with olive skin couldn’t help but chuckle, setting there in his chair. His wrinkled face smiling readily at the eight year old, his daughter’s daughter, the picture of youthful innocence, with wide eyes , a button nose and a sweet childish smile. “Very well dear” he replied to little Jara “Long ago, 1000 cycles of the seasons before your Grampa was born, there was a young girl, much like yourself, from our very Clan. She was proud to be a Jirit, the greatest of the clans, and she was called by the name Ghia” She was a great rider, even from the day she was born. Before she could mount a Tikda she would ride the family dog.” Jara giggled, always amused by the mental picture. “She did?” she asked looking up expectantly at him. “Yes, her mother set her upon the dog’s back and guided them around. Her mother was a great horsewoman and wanted her to be one as well. And so when she had finally grown up enough to move to the women‘s camp she made many friends and many enemies. For many of the old women were jealous of not only her skill, but her youth. For they knew she would grow up to be the fairest Warrior woman, and the greatest Rider ever born.” Hours passed as the old man recounted the tale to his granddaughter once again. Recounting the deeds of Ghia in battle, and the sacrifice that saved the Jirit clan. How she claimed the seat of Khana of the Jirit, and how her overwhelming courage earned her a place as the goddess of the whole Truna people. |
