| Stolen_Thunder01-11-07, 09:04 PM | I'm currently working on a different kind of campaign setting, and I sure would appreciate some help, as I'm totally lost at this point. First, is this the correct forum to be posting this thread? I saw "World Creation" and kinda-sorta started going bonkers over the idea of getting some help with this project... Secondly, some background info would be pertinent, wouldn't it? Think of your basic, D&D fantasy world, complete with undead monsters; Orcs, Goblins, and loveable little Halflings. Then, throw in some old-school Fallout-ish equipment and bad guys, along with an element of that "retro-fifties-in-the-future" feel. Add a dash of Stephen King's wastleland-ish stuff from the "Dark Tower" series of novels, including the part about the world "moving on" (I just like that idea). So far, I've got it figured out to the point that something terrible has happened in the not-too distant past (say, at least 10,000 years ago; causing the world to backslide somewhat on the technological side, but the whole catastrophy that caused this to happen also caused the world to change, introducing new creatures (the D&D fantasy creatures: Orcses, and whatnot), magical abilities have surfaced in Humans, and after a few thousand years to play around with these latent abilities, we've managed to harness them (creating the viable magic-user classes: Cleric, Wizard, etc, etc..) My idea was originaly just to create a world suitable for quick pick-up games, where the players could strap a Colt .45 to their hip, join up with their Wizard buddy, and go slay some evil demons and such. As you can see, I've put a bit more thought into it, but now I've run into a wall. Anybody have any thoughts on this? Any good suggestions? Or do you think it even needs any help? |
