I'vn't seen too many ideas for non-racial or region/civilization-specific organizations in this (realm), so I'll try this one on you.

The Gentile Brood

The Lyrns of the North Pole seeth and revel in 'unnatural' depravity (though the corruption and Rizwil are actually tied to the existence of (realm) and the leylines), but their alien enviroment forces a brief, explosive life upon them.

There are legends, though, of a 'lost' Lyrn who escaped the Rizwil and its former, mindless life. This Lyrn, believing itself cleansed of the influence of the Rizwil and freed from the clock that the Acca laid, sought out the primordial true dragons, whom the lost Lyrn believed was the form that the Lyrn once held, but lost as the result of ancient 'pacts,' if you could call them that, with the essence of the Rizwil.

Though the primordial dragons repulsed it, the lost Lyrn nevertheless was determined to become a pure dragon, freed from taint and held in balance. The lost Lyrn experimented in various kinds of blood manipulation by magic, seeking to infuse its own blood with the essence of the ch'i to create self-perfection. Other beings studied the these experiments, also, and the results were used for both virtue and vice.

The blood trials eventually failed, and so the lost Lyrn turned to the study of souls, which were bound to the ch'i. The lost Lyrn was especially interested in the root-beasts of the South Pole, which had a disturbing implication of soul that could only be termed 'half-hearted.' These experiments also appeared to fail, and the lost Lyrn dissappearred into the folds of the Iradro. Many sages quote that as the end of this legend, but something lived on.

Many, many, many years later, a prophet-creature emerged from the remnants of an exceptional root-beast. This creature was never depicted, and no descriptions of it exist (as of now.) The only mark of this creature was a staff of pure harnessed ch'i bound by Iradro and Rizwil essence, eerily reflecting certain creation myths. Throughout the land, this mark was known as one of awe and humility and almost every civilization has variations on this prophet-creature.

The mark of the prophet-creature eventually faded through millenia, but champions and cultists across the land lauded the staff as a symbol of creation. Devotees contemplated the secrets of divinity and universal laws through secret cabals of scientists and arcanists and 'universities,' 'laboratories,' and 'observatories' throughout the world. These people dismissed the traditional view of the world through the elements and instead understood the ch'i and the interaction of Rizwil and Iradro.

Eventually, they were labelled as heretics and exterminated by the traditional clergy of the world. The utterly alien knowledge of the heretics fell into even the clerics of the gods. Remaining in the shadows, the new Gentile Brood saw unnatural simile between the old faiths and the new philosophy. Today, there are clerics of the Gentile Brood scattered in all faiths so as to avoid discovery and secretly studying the unholy union of truth and half-truth, dabbling in souls and blood, especially that of the true and primordial dragons.

A quick reaction

I get this feel of two major cosmological arrangements contesting with each other.

The etherial elemetal ley lines, and the more terrestrial energies of the rizwell and iradro.

An "western" (5 elemental) vs an "eastern" (polar yin/yang).

Perhaps.. hmm. I musts disconnect at this time, but I have more to say on this matter already! Thinking of a dragon god.... ;)

What is the state of the world?

Does it bind itself, is it waiting out a storm of extra-cosmic scale?

Does it hold itself for fear of losing its essentia to planar thieves and rifts?

Does it guard its maw against poisons, or ravage the multiverse in empty hunger?

Is the world born in flames or shall the light be dimmed by ice?

Does it care?

Do the manifest energies rage against themselves, straining the two barriers,
or do the twin cages embrace alien pacts with the seething mindless forms?

Does it matter?

Cosmogony is one of my paramount concerns!

Hmmm, this a primary question with this concept.

A "dual-natured" energetic state. The world has a base ("Original") metaphysics. 5 elemental - this generated the greater beings (the lar/etr). One of these beings ("Shin-La" according to legend) created a 2 elemental (rizwel vs iradro) system... somehow...

Now - The 5 elements work "together" like a wheel.. right?
But - The 2 elements are oppositional - like .. pardon my lack of tactile analogy.

In essence making the 2 and the 5 into a 3. The Rizwel, the Iradro, and the Mana. All in opposition with each other. The mana flows are concordant with each other - but with neither the rizwell or the irdaro. The rizwell and the Iradro..

actually.. ;)

The Rizwell and the Iradro have never seen each other right? So there could be a serious question - amongst the characters of the unnamed world as to "what will happen?"

These powers manifest at the poles? Only? Perhaps pockets exist far outside of the "pure infestation" cities.. villages, herds!?! of "the infected" appearing far to the south/north of the primary infestation. Sometimes.. dangerously close.

I believe that one day this world shall suffer an "invasion" and plansewalker war may yet arrise..

Yet, it could be that the two elementary systems be a cleansed/ tainted version of the other, the result of mishandled and mistransported information. What do the people(s) of this world know about the state of their existence. Do the elementary systems interact with that of the material world, or are they synonomous with only cosmetic differences?

Now - The 5 elements work "together" like a wheel.. right?
But - The 2 elements are oppositional - like .. pardon my lack of tactile analogy.

It could also be the other way around, with the 5 elements in multi-polar diffusion within the world and the two *others* acting in harmony, though never actually touching. The Rizwil and Iradro complement the effects of the other where they have been, but the exchange of energetic states is never seen by those affected by it.

The Rizwell and the Iradro have never seen each other right? So there could be a serious question - amongst the characters of the unnamed world as to "what will happen? I believe that one day this world shall suffer an "invasion" and planeswalker war may yet arrise..

Do the two states conflict with each other? an invasion could symbolize the relevation of a unifying theory of the elemental states, where the world can be simplifed into a single, basic unit of being. This unit could be the wall that holds the elemental states apart and gives them their unique traits, or it could be the vast expanse where the elemental states lie fallow in isolation.

oh k... hmm.

Rizwell and Iradro. Like lovers meant for each other. Come the time (that may never come) their interchange would be perfectly natural, stable, healthy. However, its a "creation" an attempt at a "correction" to a system that wasnt really broken. :smirk: or was it?

The mana flows are ephimeral. Insubstantial. The real world is the synergistic manifestation of the interplay of the 5 elements. The rizwell/iradro are substanial. You can hold iradro, you can eat rizwell. Mana can be "charged" into objects, but thats not the same.

The riz/ira system is antithetical to the mana system (thusly all the creepy badness and destruction) and to truely become what it coould become.. the mana flows would either have to be shut off (the consequences of which could be extreem) or perhaps contained somehow.

To bad Shin-La aint around to finish the job eh? Got killed in in.. in a... umm.. ooooh! The blade snakes killed him! I mean the Kaiser dragons nicked him! Then umm.. drat I cant think of any of the gods that would be mad at that.. maybe all of them really. You know .. your not really as powerful as you would like to be, this really powerful dragon goes and decideds to something a bit drastic (create the riz/ira) and you dont even know if you have the power to stop him (let alone a full comprehension of what is happening yet) and then the Kaiser get uppity and decide to interfere with shin-la. Not before he gets things started.. but before he can really finish.. or study what he has done.

So now we have a mack truck full of dynamite barreling towards a gas station.. with no one at the wheel.

Enraged at Shin-La's curse, the revived Kaisers use alternate forms of magic to defeat and bind Shin-La to the land, entrenching the riz-ira conflict in the world. This could mean that the riz-ira is now a permanent part of the world, or the gods could be abandoning this world as Shin-La's example. Classic Withdrawal.

It may also be that the land itself is turning away from the old fundamentals, and the five elements only survive because of its continuous, careful usage by most trained magi. Nature or earth based magi, and those whose powers develop naturally, could naturally be more aligned with the riz-ira.

the approaching armageddon could be a reason all these primal forces are stashing away warriors for the final conflict, however the mode for that battle of philosophies. When the Rizwil and the Iradro meet, the five fundamental ley forces shall be choked in their fanatical passion.

So this is a "hermetic" order so to speak.

The wandering medicant kinda guys right? Not big "churchies"

Or is it mostly a pastoral group? Sedintary? Purely situational?

"Scattered" throughout the other faiths.. so they are decivers? That pretend to be part of a religion while undermining it from within?

Hmm, I'd though of the brood as ones who use an advanced version of Pascal's Wager, looking at the fate of the world through all elements and elementery systems.

Sure, they could be anywhere. I mean, probably not 'mainstream' everywhere, but a sizeable amount of thinkers and sages. They'd probably be just another priest or cleric except for their work in combining the systems, which is anametha.

These broodspeople would probably be fighting each others, too, for their conflicting religions if not for the uniting belief in compatibility of the systems.
