| HELLFIST06-04-06, 06:32 PM | I use dragon horns in my game to let wizards and arcane spell casters max there spells like the feat for free. So what i would like to see is wizards put out a book with a some what compleat list of monster parts or herbs or what ever could be used to Augment spell casting arcane divine or what ever. It would not even have to do the same as a meta feat it could just a a +1 to each damage die or something like that. |
| Book506-07-06, 03:15 AM | I have seen that somewhere, hmm prolly goes something like this: Component Master[Metamagic] Prerequisite: Eschew Components and any other Metamagic feat. Benifit: At the time of casting you may add additional effects by adding additional components. Adding components and effects requires the spell to be cast as a full round action. Alternativly you may prepare the spell as at +1 spell level. If you prepare the spell with additional components those components expire the next time that slot is prepared, and the spell is cast at the normal casting time. Note: See Table XX for the effects, cost, and sources of special spell components. |

| Book506-08-06, 09:29 PM | uhh... "permission to use the feat granted" currently awaiting member epiphany... there are allot of these false starts. Say La Vie. |
| Rny206-10-06, 12:03 PM | Idea! Are there specific items in tune with Rizwil or Iradro magic? Items that could waive the taxing nature of each form of magic? With the diverse ecosystems at each pole, what would provide riz/ira casters with an outlet of such mana? |
| Book506-10-06, 01:24 PM | There is a "shadow magic" thing in FR - the real question is what is the cost to the caster? D&D wise? HP - Stat (ala dark and holy speach? ) or worse... xp loss.. |

The Eberron Campaign Sourcebook has a list of specific components that have specific beneficial effects on spells cast. Dragon parts could serve a similar function; horns for this, scales for that, toenails for this spell, teeth for that spell. Just create the list of components and effects on spells (usually categories of spells, not specific spells), and stick it in the campaign. Actually, it's a bit more complicated than that to run. The key with these special components is to make them hard to get, but not too hard. If you make them easy, then the spellcasters have yet another advantage over non-casters, which can really upset game balance. |
| the_one_true_shea07-14-06, 06:43 PM | Yes, using a feat like that (or just a feature) you are creating an entire new category of items. "Spell Casting Items" - right now there are components - but the "enhanced" components could be anything from an increase in save DC, increase in damage dice, or even compleatly extranious effects. Chaos Crystal Shard (~2000gp) : Preparing a spell with a chaos crystal shard allows you to cast the spell quickened - however a random wild magic effect will trigger when that spell is cast. |
