| ArcboundColossus04-27-04, 07:47 PM | Dwarves Living in the core of this world the dwarves have been building their army skeeming and planing to take over the surface world. Prolug, the Battlemage has taken the role as dwarven leader. Prolug is planning to banish the people of the surface to the core as was done to his people. Prolug has decided to use his mastery of:b:/:r: spells to cast out the surface dwellers. |
| drizzt504-29-04, 08:23 PM | good idea but shouldn't there be a big thing about the way to get there or a magical portal or somthin :b: |

| Silent_spy04-30-04, 05:57 PM | 3 posts with the content of 1/6'th! Congratulations, you are SPAMMER OF THE YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!! This change is too radical for D&D and magic the gathering. Way too radical. I dont think i need to explain. Anyway, might I suggest that the Derro or Deurgar (dwarf subraces) are the ones who wish to overthrow the surface? 'dwarves' usually refers to hill dwarves, who are good orc killing people. derro and deurgar actually live far, far below ground and hate people. You just cant say the entire dwarven race is A)now evil and B) now banished to way the hell below the earth. Nobodies gonna like it. |
| drizzt505-03-04, 03:00 PM | i would suggest duergar since they live below the earth since they were banished anyways |
| ArcboundColossus05-03-04, 09:33 PM | At the edge of the city of Quto there is a portal that has been long forgoten. It was discarded as useless since it would sometimes spews the fire of Hell. Just it seemed perfect as a area to banish the duergars OK!!!!! |
| TheBardicTraveller05-04-04, 02:06 PM | Originally posted by drizzt5 i would suggest duergar since they live below the earth since they were banished anyways I think Derro would be better here, 'cose they have a verry deep hatred vs. all other dwarves and humans + it's a change from duerger. The duergar are so highly used as evil dwarves. |
| Agent Graves05-11-04, 07:06 PM | oo that sounds very cool, ArcboundColossus. I also like the idea of the portal that spews forth fire... If i may add a character who lives close by. He is an old hermit that is one of the last few people who know what the portal is, and who is actually down there. People think he's crazy because he either sits all day watching the portal, or is never seen, or mutters to himself about the portal. But i like the idea of the duergar plotting to otherthrow... who? just the regular dwarves or everyone else living above ground too? Is there aim to (re)take the city of Quto? Have they unleased anything that was also burried underground or allied themselves to anyone underground who also bears a grudge... |
| drizzt505-11-04, 07:08 PM | i still think duergar would be better, and if its used by everyone else then they have good taste:smirk: |
| ArcboundColossus05-28-04, 10:18 PM | The dwarves plan to retake the world and they have made a pact with the dead. Three miles away from the portal lives a person similar to Glissa but this person's destiny leads to the path of a plainswalker. |
| Agent Graves05-30-04, 06:45 PM | wb ArcboundColossus, whos Glissa? |
| Silent_spy05-30-04, 06:54 PM | Glissa sunseeker is an elf who lives on mirrodin (the setting for the current magic blcok) with the power within her to become a planeswalker. She is the most powerful warrior of the elven race, created an entire moon, and destroyed the Kaldra avatar (an immensly powerful construct). Theres a couple books in which she is the main character, and a new one is coming out soon. The important thing is the power to become a planeswalker. |
| Agent Graves05-30-04, 07:04 PM | What do u think of the idea of having a psuedo-Glissa character, silent spy? I'd like to hear ArcboundColossus' ideas on the character, etc. And the fluff he is thinking he/she will have. And how does it relate to the dark dwarves amassing an army etc... |
| ArcboundColossus06-03-04, 06:47 PM | The Glissa like character's ancestors were part of the tribe before their evil acts. Her parents were banished for being half tree dweller. Since they were banished her ancestors have been the guardian of that gate. |
| Nomikos06-03-04, 07:42 PM | * bangs head on wall* oh god...this is just plain sad |
| Agent Graves06-03-04, 08:01 PM | Nomikos i'd like to thankyou for keeping your opinions to yourself. If you arent being constructive, go away. |
| the_one_true_shea09-13-06, 01:51 AM | DWARVES! I swear I thought there werent any dwarves mentioned in the project.. woah. They're trying to take over the world!?! thoughts? |
| Erilev10-11-06, 02:34 PM | Dude! I believe you should use whatever kind of dwarves you want. Deurgar would be a poor choice, because if you really want to be a successful writer, you should try not to take parts of other series. You could use plain dwarves (or you could call; them Tithz'Rakh dwarves), and make them an evil race. Also, if I were going to use a portal, make it big. "The portal was Huge, reaching as tall as seven dwarves high, and wide enough for twenty dwarves to enter abreast. The portal itself was simply a tear in the fabric of time, allowing the travellers to walk through it and appear on the other end of the rip. The trip through the portal takes about three hours to complete, but in real time it is istantaneous. The face of the tear appears as normal stone, with gentle ripples apearing over its smooth edge, and it has a liquid consistancy, feeling like water on your skin." This would be a good size portal, big enough for an army to march through in formation, and large enough to allow enemies in. It should be tall enough for dragons and such monsters to go through, in order to open up doors for your writing |
| Rny210-11-06, 08:43 PM | IDEA: Dwarven Origin, Perhaps? It was many years ago, before the race of man had mastered the seas and robbed those waters of their secrets. In that ancient time, there came a prophet amongst the peoples of the fens that would become the Xochu' tek. The peoples of the world were growing weak and senile, and this prophet sought to enliven his comrades. Under his leadership, his chosen people became vibrant and flourishing again. The others of the seas did not love this prophet, for his words were those of storms and tempests and his people were feared through the seas for their bloodthirstiness. One could not doubt the power of the prophet's words, though, for his people were the mightiest of all the peoples of the seas. Seeing the power and passion that the sea-peoples still held in their hearts, another prophet now forgotten thought to revive that spirit of adventure and bravado that had existed in such quantity in times past. Rather than divide the sea-peoples into so many warring factions, he thought to hide under the cover of decay and wait out the inevitable fall of the sea-peoples. After society had collapsed, the people of the seas could return to their former glory by the ancient traditions that his followers would preserve. Unfortunately, the prophet's words were mangled by the passage of time, and when Night finally fell upon the civilization of the sea-peoples, the prophet's followers knew only to hide deep within the earth and to guard those sacred objects which had been passed down through the Mute Light. Every generation, there are a few of those followers who decipher the ancient texts. They see the few fragments of original text, and speak of returning to the surface to reeducate the fallen, though they be land-dwellers rather than sea-peoples. So? Ideas/suggestions? |
| Erilev10-13-06, 10:20 AM | So the "land dwellers" are the dwarves, right? if so, you might want to elaborate on how they came to dwell on the surface, or under it. it could be an interesting twist though.:plotting: |
| the_one_true_shea10-23-06, 03:51 PM | At some point while reviewing the available materials I noticed there wasn't alot of dwarfiness involved. Dwarves usually serve as an "elder civilization" - the dweomer of elder scrolls, or the keepers of "lost and lonely mountin mines" (tolkein). Other settings use them as "salty /earthy - nearly human yet mythic corralaries" contrasting agains the anti-human orcs, and the somewhat inhuman elves (ala FR and DL). The world's ancient civilization is perhaps gnomish, perhaps elven, mermic (mermian?), or "other" entierly. As far as races in general I think we have plenty. As far as underground races in particular I think the stone walker race, and the ankheg people are cooler and more distinctive. I am not saying "there are no dwarves" but I am suggesting, that what dwarves are present - are part of a "migration" of sorts. Basically.. dwarves are extraplaner in origin. Maybe even modify them to +1 LA for d20 purposes (and add elemental subtype ala tiefling). Thats my thoughts on the dwarves. :thinks: In consideration of the concept I am going to unearth the underdark thread! |
