| Agent Graves04-12-04, 07:51 PM | I've posted a description of The cascades and mentioned two sentient species. This is the first: The tree dwellers ('dwellers' in honor of galen). Ofcourse they are yet to be named. But here is a few ideas i had. > They live in the trees > Maybe have tails like spider monkeys to manouevre > Nimble > maybe fur > Like a humanoid spider monkey (like the mongrels in gladius) |
| Galen04-12-04, 08:29 PM | I have 11 new race ideas, 3 existing race modification 5 citiy concept and 7 myth/legend concept currently on my mind. One of my new race ideas are beings that live on trees. Maybe we could merge what we have so we can work things out. My first suggestion is we get rid the tail and instead of making it look like spider monkeys we make it look like gibbons. I think we're overusing the tail concept so let's have this one limb dependent on moving through trees. |
| Agent Graves04-12-04, 08:42 PM | thats cool, no tail, what were your other ideas for your race? |
| Galen04-12-04, 08:45 PM | Originally posted by Agent Graves thats cool, no tail, what were your other ideas for your race? A cross between wood elves and sloth, fanatic nature lover and have advance knowledge of magic. |
| Agent Graves04-12-04, 09:18 PM | Ive attached two links to a game called gladius. The pictures are of mongrels, that was one of the original concept ideas i had for the tree dwellers. http://www.lucasarts.com/products/gladius/concepts.jsp?num=5 http://www.lucasarts.com/products/gladius/concepts.jsp?num=46 |

| ArcboundColossus04-13-04, 03:18 PM | I say we should make them musclar beasts with connection to a natural mana pool that has no limit. Also give them claws and horns for defense. Make them a green and white mixture. White protection and green force. Make them pure and unknown til they show themselves too. |
| gaea's_leige04-13-04, 04:29 PM | would the creture be like able to think on a human level? like if its gonna be like a sloth and like an elf then will it act on instict like a sloth or think more human like, like an elf. If they are lovers of the forest will they protect it like elfs do? like how will they protect it also. Sorry if im asking to many questions, just thought if you could answer them it will help with the description |

So they can be savage, but that is their second choice. It sounds like they'll only attack if nature is being attacked. Maybe they see themselves as the protectors of The Cascades. Sorry if im asking to many questions, just thought if you could answer them it will help with the description I'll sum up what we have so far, hopefully answering your questions. The creature is sentient. That is, it can make decisions and think for itself. It is a cross between a sloth, elf, gibbon... with claws and horns... (Alot like the pictures i linked to, ;) ) It won't act like a sloth, just has some of the physical characteristics... not the slowness though. Physically, i think they wear a small amount of clothes, prefering to adorn themselves with necklaces of bones and teeth. They use natural poison and will only use found materials to make their homes. That being said, they're homes are huts built in the canopy of the forest. They live on fruits and nuts provided by the forest and don't eat meat unless its a sign of agression or if they've rejected their culture. They have powerful claws that help them climb and horns or tusks to help them fight off predators. ArcboundColossus mentioned before making them a mixture of white and green. But Mak thought it may be a good idea to make them a mixture of red and green. We'll have to decide on which mixture it is... or maybe just straight green. They are lovers of the forest, and maybe consider themsevles the protectors. As always these ideas are up for discussion and can easily be changed. |
| ArcboundColossus04-13-04, 06:57 PM | I have another idea have jobs the Red and Green who are the warriors and defenders. The White and Green who are the healers. The Black and Green who are outcasts/rebels. The Blue and Green who are the wizards. The five colored are the leaders. |
| ArcboundColossus04-13-04, 07:00 PM | We can also make a green elder there true leader like chunth |

They know only about nature. They think as elves who were entrusted as guardian and protector. |
| Agent Graves04-13-04, 07:33 PM | sounds very interesting ArcboundColossus. i'm not sure how well the five coloured leader would be, but i like the idea of more than one colour to represent different classes. That being said, i dont think scholars would fit the culture. (I'm open to disagreements about that one though) I like the idea of an all green leader. But i think that the other muliticoloured classes would have only ever one other colour... for example they're basically green, but some have one red or one white. Doin good ArcboundColossus., youve got some good ideas. |
| ArcboundColossus04-13-04, 07:35 PM | I think we should give the tree dwellers tribal boundaries like if one is in trouble Red green come to its aid. Making them the strongest race next to the zombies. |

| Galen04-14-04, 08:08 PM | Okay, I admit I lost it after the loads of suggestions posted. What will this race really look like? |
| ArcboundColossus04-18-04, 01:06 PM | Originally posted by Galen Okay, I admit I lost it after the loads of suggestions posted. What will this race really look like? I think they should look like elves with the head of an ape. Long muscular arms and legs. A hunched back. Long ears and sharp teeth. |
| Agent Graves04-18-04, 06:29 PM | The way i see them; we'll start with an elf... they're thinner, more agile. > give them fur like a gibbon, > a stylised face like a cross between an ape and dog (snout like a dog that is) > hunch them over a bit > give some of them tusks or horns > sharp teeth > claws > muscular > a loin cloth (so it doesnt get in the way of jumping from tree to tree) > a charm or necklace made from teeth and feathers |
