| Drindin01-14-06, 12:15 AM | The Kaiser Deserts are a harsh climate, and the remnants of what were once lush lakes, lively bogs, thriving mountains, and dense forests are all but too infrequent, most of which restored to dust. Created by the Kaiser Dragons before their devolution to Blade Snakes, as they tried desperatley to move the Complex Vessells to try and regain their magic, these deserts have become the permanent home of the Blade Snakes. Also contained in these deserts is the one soul source of water in the desert, the Haven Valley. It is the only source of water and life for miles, the nestled in the center of the desert, is is the few remaining remnants of energy within the barren wasteland. It is here where the Blade Snakes can come into contact with civilization. It is also said "The Last Kaiser" has a lair deep underground. Legend has it, that the Last Kaiser can be heard crying at night for the world that his kind has broken. |

Harsh, to whom? Who is here, to acknowledge the harshness of the land? Who is to judge? Fallen to dust, metaphorically or literally? What is this, primal decomposition of fundamental forces: dust? Is it mundane, or has it taken a new meaning or gained singularily cursed powers? Does it spread, evening out over the millenia of sin? Created by the Kaiser Dragons before their devolution to Blade Snakes, as they tried desperatley to move the Complex Vessells to try and regain their magic, these deserts have become the permanent home of the Blade Snakes. Were these Kaisers' Deserts actually the homes of the Kaisers, or merely a testing ground for unstable magical experimentation? Are there several Kaiseric Deserts, or a single one? Does this match the demographics of the original Kaiser population? When? Also contained in these deserts is the one soul source of water in the desert, the Haven Valley. It is the only source of water and life for miles, the nestled in the center of the desert, is is the few remaining remnants of energy within the barren wasteland. It is here where the Blade Snakes can come into contact with civilization. It is also said "The Last Kaiser" has a lair deep underground. Legend has it, that the Last Kaiser can be heard crying at night for the world that his kind has broken. Wouldn't this force the snakes to congregate at least sometimes? Besides all the snakes coming for water would mess up the pheromone senses. Who has come to live with the accursed? Arbiters, to keep control over the snakes? Friends, enemies? Celestial, Fiendish, who seeks this Haven? Surely, representatives and allies of the elemental forces would steer far away from this place. The last kaiser, living in exile and watching as his people degenerate into beasts. Perhaps he could be immortal, and simply observing. The entire race might just be locked and unable to move ahead, only fall behind. A failed testing of the preseverance example? Is he truly repentent, would he sacrifice his world to redeem his people, given the chance? Does he reside here of free will, of guilt, of the divine magics that bind his people? Is this kaiser truly a kaiser, a dragon? Exalted, alone saved, what does he think of his less fortunate brethren? Or does he share their fate, driven mad by isolation to think of himself still as a Kaiser? Answered. |
| Drindin01-14-06, 11:57 PM | Harsh, to whom? Who is here, to acknowledge the harshness of the land? Who is to judge? It is harsh to most creatures trying to foolishly cross it. Anyone who might want to cross the desert, or who lives on the border grounds, has a lot on their hands. Sandstorms, perhaps a magical draining effect? Randomn energy storms. Perhaps even the occasional elemental storm from built up, colliding energy? Living Spells? Fallen to dust, metaphorically or literally? What is this, primal decomposition of fundamental forces: dust? Is it mundane, or has it taken a new meaning or gained singularily cursed powers? Does it spread, evening out over the millenia of sin? Both metaphorically and literally. This primal decomposition, is more like taking a hand full of randomn food items and shoving them in a blender. It's a constant collision of opposing forces that eventually break down and become one source, a desert Were these Kaisers' Deserts actually the homes of the Kaisers, or merely a testing ground for unstable magical experimentation? Are there several Kaiseric Deserts, or a single one? Does this match the demographics of the original Kaiser population? When? It would have been their native homes, as well as the area around the vessel they tried to move, and also the space between. It does match the demographics of the original population, after the second fall of grace. Wouldn't this force the snakes to congregate at least sometimes? Besides all the snakes coming for water would mess up the pheromone senses. Who has come to live with the accursed? Arbiters, to keep control over the snakes? Friends, enemies? Haven was a small city of humanoids that existed before the fall of the Kaiser, and is also a way point between either side of the desert when people are trying to cross. It is also a neutral territory. Blade Snakes have made a pact with the people there that they will not fight, since all creatures need water. If a blade snake breaks the pact, the penalty is death. Even the most anarchic do not make a fuss. However, a few more self-destructively mad blade snakes have done so before. Celestial, Fiendish, who seeks this Haven? Surely, representatives and allies of the elemental forces would steer far away from this place. For the most part, yes, allies and representatives do not willingly approach the desert, but sometimes, it must be crossed. Wether forced to hide during battle, or caught there during the cataclysm, there are a few humanoids and creatures in haven. He, like his people, is exiled too the deserts. But, he keeps himself willingly tied under the earth. He would rather die than have to make a decision between his people and the world. In his madness, he may very well try to destroy the entire broken world in hopes the gods would try to remake it again, to attempt to right what his people had wronged. He may also make a blood sacrifice of every blade snake alive to do something along the same thing. Is this kaiser truly a kaiser, a dragon? Exalted, alone saved, what does he think of his less fortunate brethren? Or does he share their fate, driven mad by isolation to think of himself still as a Kaiser? Answered.[/QUOTE] |
| the_one_true_shea01-27-06, 04:07 PM | oooh thats one of those "temple of elemental evil" type of campaigns! "Blade Snake Blood" The last Kaiser is plotting (in his madness) the final extintion of his people. He sees this as a reclimation. Perhaps the intended result is that all the blade snakes and the last kaiser himself will transcend to a type of celestial being? forever lost to dragondom, we can still be as unto gods the insane beast thinks.. that of course would take a long time to set up.. no the least major step would be collecting all the blade snakes. |
| Rny201-28-06, 01:43 PM | Hmm, never read ToEE. The original or the return? Care to elaborate? the primality of the current existence of the Snakes, to be isolated and self-dependent, that inherently rejects the philosophy of the Last Kaiser. Planted by the dragons who altered the Snake/Kaisers? The water in the Desert, is it growing? It could mean the snakes secumbing to the lure of the Kaiser. They know they cannot survive together, they'll either die because of lack of resources or be sacrificed by the Kaiser, so they fight on. |

They know they cannot survive together, they'll either die because of lack of resources or be sacrificed by the Kaiser, so they fight on. It would make sense, yes. They refuse to travel in groups no larger than four, perhaps because the last Kaiser requires five to complete a sacrifice (your typical pentagram). |
| the_one_true_shea01-31-06, 08:22 PM | The Blade Snakes, right? They no longer congregate in groups larger than four. Should that be like an arcane gnosis? or a "learned" thing? |
| Drindin02-04-06, 01:07 AM | The Blade Snakes, right? They no longer congregate in groups larger than four. Should that be like an arcane gnosis? or a "learned" thing? It'd be more of a learned thing. "We travel in groups of five... but when we do, the last kaiser comes down, kills us, and uses us in a sacrifice..." |
| the_one_true_shea02-04-06, 09:07 PM | Gorram Dindrin! I love that curse! Okay I see! The Blade Snakes could have a sorta hebrew "collection" of "remembrances" Not just the "no more than 4" thing, but also ceremonies that reflect their noble heritage. Perhaps that is why they are water bearers for the desert peoples? In memorium of their ancient practices! please see Dragons of color for a pending question regarding the Kaiser :D |
