| Rny204-08-06, 12:25 PM | Ok, this thread's for discussion on the Riz-Ira influence on Lycanthropy to unclog the "Moons?" thread. So Far, we have: When one of the two (probably rizwell) exerts a certain level of activity, it causes Lycanthropes to Transform. the iradro activity causes a different strain of lycanthropy to occur, or for the lycanthropes to change into an alternate form From what I understand, Rizwell is more 'organic', hence why it would be the cause of Lycanthropy, Perhaps Iradro activates the polar opposite of Lycanthropy. As to what that is, I guess, is up for discussion. Hmmm. If lycanthropy is tied to a riz-ira cycle then what was the lycanthrop cycle connected to before the riz-ira? What if there were no lycanthropes? The magical disease could be a riz-ira phenomena... we could make modifed "were-creature" rules for wcp specifically. That could be very interesting. the Twilight Thri-Kreens. Maybe the iradro thing could cause radiation in their exoshell things to glow blue. . . . Or maybe we could have like a northern lights thing that fades and gains intensity every month like the moon waxes and wanes in place of an actual moon. To start this off, rizwil is associated more with the color green, and iradro red, so would we have iradrothropes glowing red or blue? |
| Undernetter04-08-06, 02:05 PM | im not sure. the blue wouldn't impact the Twilight Thri-Kreen too much, but there are other races that live on this world. maybe glowing blue wouldn't be better than red for the rest of them, or maybe blue would be better. like i said, im not sure but i like that word "iradrothropes" |
| the_one_true_shea04-15-06, 08:40 PM | hehe rizwolves.. Rizwolvia? Lycan Thrope Rizwellian or Just Rizwell Iradroan.. Iradrian? 'thrope.... Rizothrope Rizwellothrope... Rizorthrope. I say Red. Rizwell Green, Iradro Red, makes sense. The colors of earth. |
| Drindin04-16-06, 01:01 AM | Iradrothrope = Mad-men with magic? Perhaps the iradrothrope go into a terrible rage, and start shooting fire out everywhere on the iradro-cylce? Perhaps, rather than being 'iradrothropes' they have what's called the 'iradro madness'? |
| the_one_true_shea04-19-06, 10:21 PM | Idea, What if the Rizwell caused "lycanthropy" proper and the surging of the rizwell is what triggers their transformation.. whereas the Iradro creates a slightly different effect. This "Iradro Rage" concept ... instead of "animal form" they get a "nightmare form" kinda deal. Complete with red hot iradro energy blasts! |
| Undernetter04-20-06, 03:24 PM | wut if certain humanoid races (i.e. twilight thri-kreen) were intensly affected by the cycle. like when it is the rizwil cycle caused them to glow like blue or green (like in my post that's quoted on the first post of this thread) and caused them to be unusually outgoing and friendly to any who enter the desert and the iradro cycle caused them to destroy anything that moves. what im tryin to say is, iradro could be evil and malicious, whereas its polar opposite, rizwil, could be organic and peaceful |
| Rny204-20-06, 06:03 PM | of course, that rizwil peace would be only that of non-life. Thus, 'evil' and 'organic' are both equally antagonistic, just differently so . . . Iradro seeks to cause constant change, though mechanically, while rizwil seeks for stasis in the natural progression. EDIT: Lending to the idea of rizwil being connected with cycles (movement without going anywhere) etc. Lycanthropy. |
| Drindin04-21-06, 09:29 PM | Well, here's what we know: Races are putting their kind into stasis, in preparation for the 'ultimate battle' between Rizwell and Iradro (Lords of Demise, Niter, etc.) The hinterland waste seems to be the natural place for this 'deposite' of 'stasis races'. Another thing we know, is that because there is no moon, Lycanthropy is controlled by the waning and waxing of the Rizwell. Perhaps, the waning and the waxing of Iradro energies causes... nothing. BUT! The only time a Golem or other Magical construct can be created is when the Iradro is at it's Zenith. Nothing happens on a New Moon, so why should something happen with the Rizwell is in retreat? ;) food for thought. |
| the_one_true_shea04-28-06, 03:09 AM | It important to remember that both the iradro and the rizwell are destructive by nature. They are like the orc in that they are inherenty antagonistic. viz a viz the way the "zietgiests" of the varius races act instinctually to create "defenses" perhaps the "synergy" of the two destructive forces is a "re-harmonization" of the worlds universe, but the influence of rizwell or iradro independantly should be to corrupt anything it touches. Werebeast are considered a "illness" usually, but I don't think the twilight thri-kreen should be that tied into the iradro cycle. Reason: The twilight thri-kreen are "good guys" and the riz/ira is the great big "world eater" bad guy. @ Rny.. what if there was some sort of consequence for "mixing" rizwell and iradro.. even going M:tG with it.... Casting a rizwell and a iradro spell in the same turn: you may to search your deck for one normal land card. Put this card into play tapped. If you play an iradro spell and a rizwell spell in the same round (even if you don't draw the lad): you must sacrifice all your riz/ira tokens. Ya know something along that line? |
| Rny204-28-06, 11:51 PM | I have another idea for implementing Riz/Ira into magic: Anytime you play a non-artifact spell, you may sacrifice a land. If you do, you may declare that spell to be (riz/ira). (effects or extra abilities triggering from riz/ira spell being played) If you sacrifice a non-basic land, that spell is both a rizwil and iradro spell. (triggers both effects) when you play a riz/ira spell, you may play no more non-artifact spells this turn unless you sacrifice a land for each spell. If you played a rizwil and iradro spell, you may play no more non-artifact spells or activated abilities this turn unless you sacrifice a land for each spell. Self-destructive, consuming side of Riz/ira |
| the_one_true_shea05-05-06, 02:48 AM | hmmmm, yes, YES! It all makes sense. You don't have riz/ira "land cards" you destroy "the land" to create riz/ira. Perhaps an "Iradro Crucible" and "Rizwell Forge" that allows you to do that > or would it be like... I don't think you can add a "generic" effect like that to the magic rules... Well, we could ;) but in general those functions would have to be card driven. Perhaps you have an artifact or creature that produces riz/ira - but the standard method is sacrificing the natural lands. Thats an awesome idea! I had a perhaps a less awesome idea, but check it out - Mana = Magic Riz/Ira = Psionics What do you think? |
| Rny205-12-06, 08:47 PM | Well, the riz/ira cards would simply key off of a keyword, (or is it a pseudo-keyword?) such as: Riz/Ira Capable X (As you play this spell, you may . . . If you do, X happens) For riz/ira capable artifacts/creatures, we could have it one of two ways, I'd think: T: The next time you would play a riz/ira capable spell, you may choose not to sacrifice a land for riz/ira 'ness' T: The next time you play a riz/ira capable spell, that spell has riz/ira 'ness' The first would use a replacement effect, while the second grants the spell its riz/ira 'ness' Finally, I'd say that, by looking at casting each type of magic in Magic and DnD, by mechanics riz/ira would match up more with Vancian casting as it represents larger 'blocks' of energy while the mana magic would seem more like psionics because it allows for flexibility and smaller bits and pieces. |
| the_one_true_shea05-13-06, 04:32 PM | Your right, it was less awesome, but check this out :D On the rizwell and iradro.. "colorless" cards (NOT artifacts) but actual living colorless creatures like the lyrn dragons - colorless - these creatures and enchantments (maybe some artifacts) have refrences to "the rizwell" and "the iradro" NOT your rizwell or iradro.... THE riz/ira. Like the whatsits.. the magic monsters that all share their powers. Every riz/ira effect is global. So you can activate your "instant rizwell ability" off of another player's rizwell effect. How would we say that? Without getting too wordy.. hmm. oh yeah thats where the awesome idea came in! Ok, so mana is like psionic "points" (this is a tacit analogy not a technical one) and riz/ira is like spell "levels" .. levels.. like a tide that rises and falls. "What is the rizwell level?" they will say Ok the idea is thusly, several (not all) of the rizwell cards have "start of turn" actions on them. These are varius forms of "rizwell rise" and "rizwell fall" making the global effect that is driven by the cards that is then triggered from the cards via simple statments of :riz: 4 - Play as instant. :ira: 2 - Put into play for free. :ira: X - Deal an additional X damage. Or even more complicated statments in like, If :riz4: sacrifice (creature), add 4 colorless to your pool, and decrease Rizwell by 2. |
| Rny205-13-06, 06:38 PM | I believe those are slivers, though many tribes will fit that moniker. Anyways, I think the slivers had to be spread across all the colors for balance, so to make all our riz/ira creature colorless the effects would have to be marginal or not always applicable. I get that's where the riz/ira tide comes in. The riz/ira 'Biorhythm' could be the reasoning behind connecting it with lycanthropy and cycles. However, the problem i see with the riz/ira level is that its too hard to keep track of, and in some respects seems a lot like kicker. Would we seriously be willing to add another part to the rules, for the tide, or would we have 'counters' for the growth of more riz/ira? Would the riz/ira interact between themselves on a single scale, or would we have a separate counter for riz and one for ira? |
| the_one_true_shea05-15-06, 10:33 PM | I actually manages to remember the race randomly - hard to search for something when you don;t know the name .. know what I mean. Umm - yeah actually - using the counters to keep the tide. Basically the riz/ira effects either call out to the number of token on the card - or the number of token in play. Not the number of token "you" have. |
| Rny205-16-06, 12:32 AM | Ok, so how's this: At the beginning of your turn, do Y X times, wher X is equal to # of riz or ira in play? IDea: what if Rizwil triggered at the beginning of your turn, and IRadro at the end/ beginning of opponents turn? |
| the_one_true_shea05-16-06, 03:51 AM | Ok, so how's this: At the beginning of your turn, do Y X times, wher X is equal to # of riz or ira in play? IDea: what if Rizwil triggered at the beginning of your turn, and IRadro at the end/ beginning of opponents turn? Consensually what should be happening here is the destruction of land and the generation of aca/lyrn/molars/etc.... Tokens, or .. yeah No actually that is pretty much the "core mechanic" of th riz/ira. Do {action} X times where X is the global number of riz-or-ira. Perhaps that should be riz - can you think of a way to do that only differently with ira? I like the idea of the rizwell take place at upkeep, and iradro at end of turn. That gives them distiction. |
