| Rny201-14-06, 07:07 PM | I stared at the limp arm loosely drawn across the grate. A wind blew, and the lanterns outside shifted, allowing me a closer look at that limb. Its calcified surface was encrusted with a stony, dry material that conjured up images of the barren sands blowing across fields of remembrance and left me with a horrid taste in my mouth. The limb occasionally flailed as if grasping at something dearly lost, and a few flakes always broke away and drifted down. Outside, a passing guard making his rounds swiped his burning claw at the extending limb, sending it back into the shadows still smoking. A beast growled, and thunder crashed. As soon as the guard left, bored of torture, the shadows retreated once more. The treatment must have been quite regular, as half-healed wounds covered a headless body. Smoke, sometimes in whispers and sometimes gushing out, silently flowed from the body to lend obscurity to the image. Rain pounded harder on the small enclave, or was it the blood in my veins? That stump of a head callously leaned towards me, and though I wished to turn away and flee from the terrible scene, I held on and carefully bared my eyes to what lay in those pitiful depths of corruption. A draconic mass of claws, scales, fangs, and pincers seemed to grin back at me. Another screech-growl ran out and echoed indefinetely, but my mind was already lost. I subconsciously heard the stamp of feet and flapping of wings outside, and prayed. They were too late. . . . They tried in vain. . . . Sire Sinchaser Lives Again! Who is Sire Sinchaser? What is he? Who are the burning guards? The winged creatures, those fleet of foot? What is the enclave? What is the creature behind the grate? The creature looking in? |

Rather than trying to save the world, his desperation for magic drove him mad and he was at the head of the group trying to move the Complex Vessels. In fact, he's the king of the Kaiser, the Great Kaiser! Perhaps, so hated was he, he was bound to live in a hellish inferno. The burning guards were the devils put in charge of keeping him there. The other beings within are humanoids who were also cursed to live there. The man looking into the cage is the head of the Enclave, a group of mages run by The Last Kaiser. They're the ones who opened the portal and bound the devils to keep him there? |
| the_one_true_shea01-19-06, 11:13 PM | Ahh, the everpresent Yin the Yang.. I call it the Yiang phenomena... :smirk: There is the Last Kaiser.. and the Last King of the Kaiser.. both still extant after some centuries have past by their world shattering conflict. The last king is no true Kaiser anymore. Something that could be called with some words.. "a dracolich" but in truth something even more foul. A creature curesed with promethian proportions! The Kaiser like all dragons are closer to gods than man. The Kaiser dragons were perhaps the most paltry example of this.. and thusly it was most shocking that they did what they did. You see being little often motivates to largess. A thin blade is often the sharpest. Well, the Kaiser did something a bit strange.. As we all know the lost Kaiser were quite a bit more civilized than other draconics. As in they built cities.. had families, friends, homes, and even hobbies. The way this was accomplished (in violation of draconic nature) was via a ritual. A ritual first performed by the direct ancestor of Sire Sinchaser. The first King of the Kaiser. Sinchaser (whose dragon name became the family name of the noble Kaiser bloodline) transformed himself into a divine king. As a whelp the young Sinchaser saw that the dragons never worked together the way that the mortals did (all true dragons are technically (potentially) immortal). He learned by watching. He studied with mortal sorcerors. He traveled the world accross, but not until he took flight on his Kaiser Wings did he find the answers he sought. A dragon of no small power, though nowhere the equal of the (as of yet unborn) Shin-La, Sinchaser made his way to the playground of the gods. The rainbow shell that locks all but Gods and Dragons below the clouds. There he spoke and questioned and quarreled with the petty dieties. Only one, a very minor divinity for that matter, was willing to explain his nature to him. She was a heroic demi-goddess, and to this day regrets the simple terms she traded with Sinchaser. In no small way she, and the other gods, point to the Kaiser Kingship Ritual as the beggining of the end of the world. The first King of the Kaiser, the first and only dragons to ever keep a king, became so by way of theft of divinity. All Kaiser that curved their necks to Sinchaser.. gave him a part of their divinity. Sacrificed part of that which tied them to the god realms.. in order to become more like mortals. With the temperments of men and the powers of gods the Kaiser built the grandest city the world had ever seen.. in the heart of the most devilish desert on the unnamed world. A simple feat for near dieties.. particularly when they work together. Immigrants from all the civilized races began to populate this wonder land of majestic towers and mystical water wells. Storms brewed at King Kaiser's bidding, crops grew strong, and no sandstorm ever touched the city.. until the day that Sinchaser died. (ok I dont have that story but moving on) After Sinchaser, one of his brood (as is the mortal way) Sole Sinchaser took up his place, and took up the reins of Kaiser divinity. Unnatural at their base, and unfamiliar to an extreem, the combined divine powers of the Kaiser funneling through his mind was too much. Sinchaser alpha had crafted the spell, he understood it. His inheritors were never able to replicate his command of the combined powers of the Kaiser.. burning out, even giving up! until the day Sire Sinchaser assumed the mantle of King Kaiser. Sire Sinchaser became the Last King of the Kaiser nearly the same time that Shin-La first created the riz-ira shells. Patching what he believed was a "hole in reality" Sire recognzed these great works as related in a way to the power he himself had embraced with a ferver unmatched by any save the progenitor Sinchaser. As Sire's control over the combined divinity of the Kaiser slowely but surely declined (with his sanity following fast) he hatched upon a plan. The rest is history. :smirk: AKA I'll be back! - Sire is not the Last Kaiser - He is the Last King of the Kaiser - The Last Kaiser that lives in the Kaiser city is actually a renegade Kaiser (oooh "one unbent neck" - so the Blade Snakes are the ones who were sacrifing their divinity to their king.. and that why only one of them still exists - he was the only renegade) who tried to stop Sire. |
| Drindin01-20-06, 02:55 AM | Okay, a few notes to patch up the story: - The 'desert' as it's known, did not exisist until after riz-ira, because at this time, Kaiser's were not allowed to use magic. However an actual desert may have existed, only this one was not void of magic when the city was built, however the city was amazing none the less. - It's not mentioned, but the Kaiser are part of the reason riz-ira exists. Their tampering with magics damaged the world in such a way, the excess mana needed to be drained off, thus Riz-Ira from Shin-la. And some possibilities for after this: The dragons would not have devolved to the point they have (ie: Blade Snakes) had they not been giving off their divinity to Sinchaser. Perhaps the Last Kaiser is still greater evolved than Sire Sinchaser. Maybe Sire Sinchaser has some more primitive features (Ie: Extended antler-like horns, bony plates, broader snout) than the Last Kaiser. (Ie: Last Kaiser has smooth scales, softly sloping horns, narrower snout). |
| Rny201-29-06, 12:20 AM | That terrible sun wouldn't stop shining. Its dry rays soaks up all magic here, even that of the mind and soul, as if my bindings weren't enough. It took the slaves centuries to build the shade-spell, yet the light burns on still. How pathetic. I am surrounded by idiots, and ugly besides. Monstrous beings unfit for service to me, but alas with them I must contend with. I'll have you know, a thousand souls once bowed their crowns to me, earning for the blood of sacrifice. How far have I fallen? This a barbaric age, it seems. Aeons go by, my immortal servants achieving nothing outside. Time is all I need, though. With time, the worlds die, and I live. Sire Sinchaser lives again! |
| the_one_true_shea03-09-06, 08:32 PM | Between the lizard men of the desert, the Kaiser, and a couple other smaller threads there is allot of desert related stuff lying around. That brings a question to my mind: One or two? How many major deserts should there be? The Kaiser City was no desert when the Kaiser ruled over it, but perhaps before and after. The lizard men desert is described as being ancient beyond reckoning... so it would have not been included in any Kaiser Green Magic.... but does that preclude the deserts from being near each other? I guess the real question: Should the Kaiser City have had "problems" with the Lizotaurns? or are the Lizard Men of the Desert from another part of the world entierly? |
| Drindin03-10-06, 01:34 AM | Two deserts isn't bad. Our world has many more than that, our biggest being Antartica, our second biggest and our hottest being the Sahara. Perhaps they come from a desert that predates, but is very different from, the Kaiser desert. One that is like our deserts: Teeming with life despite it's harsh climate. The kaiser desert would be a more or less 'dead' desert. Unable to support life because of it's lack of ley magic., |

That brings a question to my mind: One or two? How many major deserts should there be? Of course, there also seems to be a lot of jungle/ rain forest stuff too . . . The Kaiser City was no desert when the Kaiser ruled over it, but perhaps before and after. The lizard men desert is described as being ancient beyond reckoning... so it would have not been included in any Kaiser Green Magic.... but does that preclude the deserts from being near each other? When and how would 'reckoning' have begun occuring for the lizards? Do the circumstances of the lizards' reckoning process allow for powerful and potentially meddling neighbors? This time before reckoning, merely before that of the lizards or universally? Two deserts isn't bad. Unable to support life because of it's lack of ley magic., Maybe the lizards have seen the 'death' of the Kaiserric desert, and so they believe that their desert alone have been saved from the bane of the Kaisers. Perhaps the lizards viewed this as a personal sign of the sun god they venerate, and though the Kaiserdeath has fallen into myth, worship of the sun god, their protector, continues? |
| the_one_true_shea03-15-06, 02:44 PM | This is a bigger question than one might think at first. The Lizard Man Desert is described in the lizard man myths as having been created by their Sun god. ... in the ancient prehistory of the species. By lizard man reckoning the desert has been there forever. Before it was a desert it was some sort of fertile cresent area.. perhaps thats "mythic/garden of eden" nonesense but nonetheless the idea is there. The Kaiser desert is described as being a barren lifeless place prior to the rise of the Kaiser civilization... a state the area has reverted to at this point. I'm leaning toward the two deserts, and even more so to the "different continents" idea. If the Havar desert and the Kaiser desert are even tangental there come some serious questions of interelation. Ineraction between the current elements is not a bad thing, but I don't think the Kaiser and the Havar are gonna be the best pairing. Better in contrast perhaps. One desert - Kaiser Desert - Is a fallen civilization. Dabbling in dark secrets of reality have laid waste to the dragon kings. Those that survive in the remnants of the Kaiser catastrophy are there more out of persistance and mule headedness... Niters? Perhaps the kaiser desert could be a northern desert below the northern wastes? Two desert - Havar Desert - Is a progressing civilization. Trade and mercantile are described as forming. The lizard men have a bright future ahead of them, and the inclusion of the Kaiser's Shame just to the south... recasts them as inheritors of the area.. instead of "they who have always been here" which I like about the lizard men. |
