3.xE CharacterOp forum location

May 23, 2008 9:04:44 This is a small point: but I'm finding the new location for the 3.xE character optimization forum inconvenient. I realize that there was a soap opera around the location of the CharOp board, personnel, etc., but I'm not much for day-time TV; I'm just a pragmatist. Although I've already pre-ordered the 4E books, I also expect to continue to play/DM 3.x games. Given the history and volume of work in the 3E CharOp board, it would seem pragmatic to keep it in close proximity to the other active boards of its era, in the "D & D Previous Editions" menu. Thanks for your consideration.

May 23, 2008 9:20:54 Although the reorg is still ongoing, there is a forum jump within the D&D forums that leads straight to the RPGs forums, including the d20 Character Optimization forum.

I appreciate your point. Admittedly, the link was not obvious to me. Yet, even with the link, pragmatically thinking, what's the benefit of keeping what appear to be similar forums in disparate locations? For instance, as a visitor to the boards, I frequently went quickly between various boards (races, classes, CharOp, feats/skills, magic, etc.). It's great that I can do this for some of these forums, but given the overwhelming interest in the CharOp boards, as a rules resource if nothing else, I find the dislocation to be inefficient. (Again, I know there is a bunch of baggage here--I'm not a part of the teeming masses who had strong opinions on this as you can see from my post on the migration thread. I just want boards that are structured in a way that makes sense to me as a user. It's not that I can't click a few extra times, or learn new patterns, it's just that this particular change does not make sense to me, objectively.) Thanks again for the quick response.

May 23, 2008 12:10:18 I can understand the frustration and sympathize. However, WotC does have an obligation to market and sell the new edition. Support for previous editions is going to wane a bit. That the 3.5 character optimization forums still exist at all is a blessing at this point.

May 23, 2008 13:49:21 I'll count my blessings and hope that WoTC will not eviscerate the historic boards. If there is any movement to remove the prior boards, I know that many would appreciate some advanced warning. Some of us have spent considerable time crafting our communications and encouraging others to find joy in the game. Thanks again.
