There's quite a few forums here in the D&D section that lack a description. I'm of the opinion that good forum names coupled with solid descriptions helps folks find the correct place to post their thread, or find topics that interest them. So, I'd like to get the ball rolling by posting a list of forums that need a description. I'll try to edit suggested descriptions into this post. Ideally, the Community Management team could then just grab the description they like best and plug it in. So, here goes:

  • Related Topics

    Suggestions

    • Hop to this list of forums presenting topics D&D players may find interesting.

  • VCL Open Discussion

    Suggestions

    • This forum on the Community pages contains discussion about the VCL program, including defining the program, filing complaints, and discussions on improving the overall community.

  • 4e Races and Monsters

    Suggestions

  • 4e Books Errata

  • Digital D&D

    Suggestions:

    • Anything having to do with digital D&D, from discussion of blogs and podcasts, to discussion of D&D games to discussion of various third-party tools for use with D&D.

  • Forgotten Realms: General

    Suggestions:

    • Discuss and share opinions, participate in projects, and engage in discussions involving the Forgotten Realms. Topics that do not fit in either Forgotten Realms: Realmslore and/or Forgotten Realms: Running the Realms sections belong here.

  • Eberron: Running Eberron

    Suggestions:

    • Eberron has many unique races, classes, spells, and powers, all of which have been integrated and implemented in the setting. Discuss these mechanical aspects of Dungeons & Dragons here, with other fans of Keith Baker's noir campaign setting.

  • The Rec Room

  • The Marketplace

  • Star Wars RPG

  • Gaming Culture

  • Creative Corner

  • RPGA

(I skipped the "Legacy Forums" section)

Each of those should have a description. So, give me your suggestions and I'll (hopefully) compile a list.

*

In addition to the forums having descriptions, the sections can also have descriptions. These might also be helpful, so here's a list of the sections within the D&D area:

  • D&D HQ
  • D&D Fundamentals
  • D&D Community
  • D&D Insider
  • D&D Worlds
  • D&D Previous Editions
  • RPGs
  • Related Topics
  • Legacy Forums

I think having a description on these can also help. As before, I'll try to keep a list of suggestions. And hopefully something catches CM's eye and they choose to make the quick update.

*

I didn't mention any of the forums that actually have a description. But if folks think the current ones aren't useful, I'll add a section to this post with all those forums and the current descriptions, and maintain a list of suggestions there as well.

So -- have it! Offer up some ideas, and lets see if we can improve our area, even just a little.

-I already forwarded a description for Forgotten Realms: General Discussion to Solice, who forwarded it to WotC_Melanie. It's out of my hands now.

-The Running Eberron section should probably have something similar to Running the Realms, save the name changes (Forgotten Realms would become Eberron, and Ed Greenwood would become Keith Baker).

-If you feel it warrants it, I second the description of the Rec Room.

-Well, since Solice is gone now, and I don't know if what I sent was forwarded to WotC_Michelle (I think she was the one who Solice mentioned), let me add that description to the list, for uniformity, so when/if we send this to WotC_Mike, he has it, too:

Forgotten Realms General:

Discuss and share opinions, participate in projects, and engage in discussions involving the Forgotten Realms. Topics that do not fit in either Forgotten Realms: Realmslore and/or Forgotten Realms: Running the Realms sections belong here.

Thanks, LK. List updated!

Anybody wanna give me some more? I mean, I could write most of them, but I'm sure people more familiar with a forum could do a better job. The one I definitely couldn't write is the errata forum. I have no clue what that's for...

-The eratta forums are pretty easy. Something along the lines of:

"Have you found an error in [INSERT TITLE] that you think we missed? Let us, and others, know about it here."

They updated he role boards.
I don't know why they didn't update Astrid's Parlor at the same time.

-Or everything else that's been needing upgrades, like forum descriptions, moving boards, renaming boards, etc.
