All this new facebook, tweet, star rating stuff really slows down page loading.

I normally have my settings at viewing 40 posts at a time and instead of taking 1 or 2 seconds it is taking a lot longer to load a long thread.

I just timed it for one of my handbooks and it took 55 seconds to load all the way to the last comment on the thread.

Edit: I tried timing it again after this stuff was turned off: Less than 1 second.  Please keep it off or at least give us the option of turning it off.

I hate to say it, but what type of connection are you running and/or how old is your pc?

It's not just him. A few days ago my comp (which loads any other page superfast) was taking forever with the WotC forums. Same thing with my friends so it was whatever they had on the forums then. Now it's fine and I see none of the extra stuff.

They had accidentally turned on some 'features' but they've since been disabled.

As I said in my post, as soon as they turned off all the bloat, it was loading 40 posts in less than a second.   My connection speed is fast and while the PC is a couple of yeats old, it was not the PCs fault since it can handle loading 40 posts at a time fine most of the time.

The forum was trying to load a twitter widget 80 times, a facebook 80 widget times, a star rating widget 80 times, and I think some other widgets 80 times, on top of the actual posts.

Thankfully turning on the features was an accident, but at the time we did not know that since they have been making and talking about making minor changes to the forums.

Hrm.

Actually I should apologize.  I was assuming that it was a connection problem, but this thread actually made me realize that my ISP is giving me more d/s than I thought.
