| #1Seeker95Jan 21, 2011 8:24:52 | Since yesterday morning (roughly 8 am EST on January 20), when I attempt to use my bookmark to get to the Forums, I get a Server Error. I can get to the Forums by going through the www.wizards.com front page. Here is the info: My bookmark: community.wizards.com/ (also: community.wizards.com) Redirects to: accounts.wizards.com/remotel.aspx?redir=... The page feedback: Server Error in '/' Application. Runtime Error Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine. Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off". Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL. |
| #2Neutronium_DragonJan 21, 2011 11:15:25 | I'm also seeing this error, although only if I don't visit the main D&D site first. Bookmarks and links from the D&D site both work once I do. Clearing cookies and relogging in haven't corrected the problem, so it isn't just a 'stale cookies' issue. |
| #3vail_nocturneJan 21, 2011 12:08:54 | I passed this on to the Devs. I had an odd runtime error very briefly yesterday, but it cached out, so likely not the same thing. |
| #4Seeker95Jan 21, 2011 12:31:16 | At the time of this message, the problem appears to have resolved. |
| #5Neutronium_DragonJan 21, 2011 14:14:27 | I'm still seeing it. Seeker, did you keep your browser open in the meantime, and/or did you visit some other part of the WotC site before navigating here via a bookmark? |
| #6Seeker95Jan 21, 2011 14:15:59 | I'm still seeing it. Seeker, did you keep your browser open in the meantime, and/or did you visit some other part of the WotC site before navigating here via a bookmark? I just back here to say that it is NOT resolved. I did indeed remain within my browser window that whole time. (I listen to Last.fm radio, which has been on all day.) |
| #7_Mithreinmaethor_Jan 21, 2011 15:34:52 | I am getting the same thing. I just open the D&D home page then I click my bookmark link for forums and it works. |
| #8MarkBJan 21, 2011 16:26:41 | Seems to be a bad night for browsing D&D forums. I'm getting the same Runtime Error message browsing WotC sites, and now I'm getting malware warnings from Google when I try browsing ENWorld's forums. |
| #9_Mithreinmaethor_Jan 21, 2011 16:56:37 | Seems to be a bad night for browsing D&D forums. I'm getting the same Runtime Error message browsing WotC sites, and now I'm getting malware warnings from Google when I try browsing ENWorld's forums. I am getting the same as well from Enworld. At least this bug on the WOTC forums is easy to bypass |
| #10Robin_HoodlumJan 21, 2011 17:26:43 | As of 6:30 pm EST, January 21, I, too, am experiencing this problem. Not a huge problem, but a big pain in the ass. |
| #11Man_in_the_Funny_HatJan 22, 2011 9:41:02 | Been annoyed by this for 2-3 days now and it's getting tedious. Hope this gets fixed soon. |
| #12grovebornJan 22, 2011 10:25:42 | I have this problem when I have the Keep Me Signed In feature enabled, but disabling seems to resolve it. |
| #13DuskweaverJan 22, 2011 10:33:19 | Same problem here. |
| #14knightsfyreJan 22, 2011 11:00:04 | Just adding my name to the list of people seeing this error. Have tried accessing the page from Firefox, IE, and Chrome, all with a cleared cache -- still getting the runtime error. |
| #15calronmoonflowerJan 22, 2011 20:26:40 | Annoying error is annoying. ![]() |
| #16_Mithreinmaethor_Jan 22, 2011 22:53:39 | Still continues. Comon people. Fix your damn servers. I'm tired of how stupidly this site is run. Enough for you to leave perhaps? |
| #17lokiareJan 22, 2011 23:48:14 | Still continues. Comon people. Fix your damn servers. I'm tired of how stupidly this site is run. Not as long as D&D is associated with it... |
| #18calronmoonflowerJan 23, 2011 3:03:07 | On the off chance that no one else has done so, I've e-mailed Customer Service and included a snapshot of the error screen. [edit] I got a response already and an ORC has past the problem up the ladder. Hopefully it will be fixed soon. |
| #19ORC_ParadoxJan 23, 2011 3:53:07 | On the off chance that no one else has done so, I've e-mailed Customer Service and included a snapshot of the error screen. Folks have reported it. I've passed up two or three such reports, and I'm sure there are others. |
| #20_Mithreinmaethor_Jan 23, 2011 13:13:46 | Enough for you to leave perhaps? Nah you cant piss me off or I would have put you on the blocked list LOOOOOONG ago. Besides your from Arkansas arent ya? |
| #21Shemeska_the_MarauderJan 23, 2011 15:43:20 | Still busted for me too, displaying some screwed up backend code. |
| #22paul_vJan 23, 2011 18:02:09 | Experiencing the same problems, myself. I can't access from email links (the ones from automatic notifications), bookmarks, anything. I have to go to wizards.com and backtrack from there. This has been happening for about 4 days. |
| #42Xaielao2Jan 26, 2011 18:53:16 | Still broke for me, 1/26 8pm EST. Interstingly it seems to be broke for firefox (latest version) but not for IE. Unfortunately I hate IE with a passion. Both e-mail links and bookmarked links are still not working for me. I have to go the main sight and then the forums. Glad to hear I'm not the only one. |
| #43Neutronium_DragonJan 26, 2011 19:46:45 | Likewise, I'm still experiencing this problem. |
| #44calronmoonflowerJan 27, 2011 1:57:39 | Customer service asked me to delete my temporary internet file as they though the problem could be there. I did so and am still having the error so I updated my question. |
| #45lokiareJan 27, 2011 3:20:45 |
From what I've seen they don't move at all on forum issues, but YMMV... |
| #46Silverblade_The_EnchanterJan 27, 2011 7:57:14 | and it's broke AGAIN for me :/ |
| #47zombie_babiesJan 27, 2011 8:11:18 | 1/27 apprx 0910 still havin' trouble. Like I said, I have no idea what's taking so long. This has happened before and they cleared it up fairly quickly. Hell, they should know exactly what's wrong since they've cleared it before. |
| #48WotC_MichelleJan 27, 2011 12:39:10 | Sorry this is taking so long. Here's what I posted to one of the other threads. The error itself is fairly generic; this is a different bug and unfortunately isn't something we can roll out a quick fix for. We have to schedule a release to make sure all of the moving parts continue to move properly. ___ Update on this: We've tracked down the problem and have a fix for it scheduled for next week. I'm sorry that we can't fix it sooner, but it requires a scheduled update and full QA pass to fix this particular problem. Apologies for the hassle. For now you can still log in by not using remember me. |
| #49PaulonJan 27, 2011 13:15:14 | For me the problem isn't logging in. It's just that I can't access the forums without first opening a page on the main site. Once I do that I can open a forum page without the error coming up. And I'm still logged in on the forums once I can actually get the page open. |
| #50Seeker95Jan 27, 2011 18:20:43 | Paulon: That is the same problem we have all described. On a new browesr launch, jump links into the forums don't work until we hit the wizards.com site (anywhere). Michelle: Thank you for the heads up. I understand the need for patches and fixes to be part of a scheduled roll-out or upgrade rather than applied ad hoc. |
| #51Neutronium_DragonJan 27, 2011 18:36:34 | Thanks for the letting us know, Michelle! |
| #52zombie_babiesJan 28, 2011 8:29:42 | Yup. Thanks for the update! ![]() |
| #53lokiareJan 28, 2011 15:48:06 | Isn't communication grand! Of course that post equates to "soon" but sounds much more like they are going to do something... |
| #54calronmoonflowerJan 29, 2011 18:36:14 | Customer service asked me to delete my temporary internet file as they though the problem could be there. I did so and am still having the error so I updated my question. Actually you have seen them move on forum issues. Here you replied to a long list of issue many of which have been fixed. One of those was the lack of sblocks on the forums and currently have an sblock in your sig. Here you posted in a thread that included the cutting off of names by the board, which has now been fixed. Finally Your mileage May Vary is for subjective statements, but your's is objectively wrong. However, I would chop this up to confirmation bias rather than you being malicious. |
| #55Seeker95Jan 29, 2011 21:32:34 | However, I would chop this up to confirmation bias rather than you being malicious. You, my friend, are a generous person. ![]() |
| #56lokiareJan 29, 2011 21:40:08 | Customer service asked me to delete my temporary internet file as they though the problem could be there. I did so and am still having the error so I updated my question. I replied to 3 issues. None of which have been fixed. A work around was discovered for one issue, the rest haven't been touched... Woo, they fixed one issue. when I said they don't move I meant it more metaphoricly... As in they move so slow you wonder if they move at all... |
| #57calronmoonflowerJan 30, 2011 0:43:36 | I replied to 3 issues. None of which have been fixed. A work around was discovered for one issue, the rest haven't been touched... You replied to three POSTS the last of which contained multiple issues several of which have been dealt with. I even gave you an example of one in my last post. Woo, they fixed one issue. when I said they don't move I meant it more metaphoricly... As in they move so slow you wonder if they move at all... I cannot really be sure if you actually meant literally or metaphorically; because short of my telepathy growing powerful enough to work over the internet, I can only go by what posters actually post. Anyway you likely only seeing a few of the actual forum issues, so you are likely underestimating the speed of which they address them. Also they are unlikely to be interested in actually changing all the things that you want them to as well. |
| #58calronmoonflowerJan 31, 2011 23:43:36 | Hey, I went to the forum directly without the error. It looks like it has been fixed. ![]() Thanks for the effort. |
| #59MysteriaJan 31, 2011 23:57:51 | Does not look like it from over here. I still get the same error. ![]() |
| #60Plaguescarred1Feb 01, 2011 2:21:49 | I encounter this Server Error problem too for more than a week. I can't access the Broadcasts Announcement from my E-mail's link. CS replied my account was all good. ![]() Plague |
| #61calronmoonflowerFeb 01, 2011 2:25:15 | Does not look like it from over here. I still get the same error. I encounter this Server Error problem too for more than a week. I freely admit I was wrong. I guess what happened was I visited too close to my last trip to the forums so it went through. |
| #62Seeker95Feb 01, 2011 7:08:49 | Bad cal, bad! No go stand in the corner until we let you out. |
| #63DuskweaverFeb 02, 2011 9:15:19 | So, the forums were down for some time yesterday, apparently just to add all this extraneous (and resource-hogging) post rating / social networking crap at the bottom of every post. Yet this problem has still not been fixed. I am not impressed. |
| #64WotC_MichelleFeb 02, 2011 15:54:03 | Hi - I popped in here to apologize for another delay and let you know that the remember me fix had to be pushed out a week. It's now scheduled for Thursday, February 10th. There should be no noticable down time associated with the fix, but we'll be watching it closely. I do want to let you know that there is no connection between the fix for this problem, the outage yesterday, and the ratings/social networking buttons. That was an unrelated unplanned outage and the underlying cause is being fixed. |
| #65coreyhaim8mydogFeb 02, 2011 18:32:34 | I don't know if this is the correct forum, if not, I apologize. Is anyone else unable to download articles from DDI? I get taken to the DL page, which is now blank, and nothing happens. |
| #66drnickFeb 04, 2011 16:31:49 | Close your browser, reopen it and reset your cache before coming back to the site. |
| #67WotC_MichelleFeb 04, 2011 17:49:25 | We got the fix moved up to Monday morning (the 7th). Dev/Ops team needs doughnuts. Side note: I require a doughnut emoticon. Also, a fingers-crossed. |
| #68coreyhaim8mydogFeb 04, 2011 22:13:14 | Close your browser, reopen it and reset your cache before coming back to the site. I reinstalled Safari and can now OPtion-Clcik to get a PDF file here. I didn't have to do that before. I don't know what changed. |
| #69drnickFeb 05, 2011 12:13:13 | odd. I don't use safari though so I can't really comment. |
| #70Man_in_the_Funny_HatFeb 07, 2011 16:21:44 | So, only 17 days to get this fixed? Hmn... |
