Since yesterday morning (roughly 8 am EST on January 20), when I attempt to use my bookmark to get to the Forums, I get a Server Error. I can get to the Forums by going through the www.wizards.com front page.

Here is the info:

My bookmark: community.wizards.com/ (also: community.wizards.com)

Redirects to: accounts.wizards.com/remotel.aspx?redir=...

The page feedback:
Server Error in '/' Application.
Runtime Error
Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

I'm also seeing this error, although only if I don't visit the main D&D site first. Bookmarks and links from the D&D site both work once I do.

Clearing cookies and relogging in haven't corrected the problem, so it isn't just a 'stale cookies' issue.

I passed this on to the Devs.

I had an odd runtime error very briefly yesterday, but it cached out, so likely not the same thing.

I'm still seeing it.

Seeker, did you keep your browser open in the meantime, and/or did you visit some other part of the WotC site before navigating here via a bookmark?

I just back here to say that it is NOT resolved. I did indeed remain within my browser window that whole time. (I listen to Last.fm radio, which has been on all day.)

I am getting the same thing.  I just open the D&D home page then I click my bookmark link for forums and it works.

Seems to be a bad night for browsing D&D forums. I'm getting the same Runtime Error message browsing WotC sites, and now I'm getting malware warnings from Google when I try browsing ENWorld's forums.

I am getting the same as well from Enworld.  At least this bug on the WOTC forums is easy to bypass

Not a huge problem, but a big pain in the ass.

On the off chance that no one else has done so, I've e-mailed Customer Service and included a snapshot of the error screen.

[edit]

I got a response already and an ORC has past the problem up the ladder. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

Both e-mail links and bookmarked links are still not working for me. I have to go the main sight and then the forums. Glad to hear I'm not the only one.

Sorry this is taking so long. Here's what I posted to one of the other threads. The error itself is fairly generic; this is a different bug and unfortunately isn't something we can roll out a quick fix for. We have to schedule a release to make sure all of the moving parts continue to move properly.
___

Update on this: We've tracked down the problem and have a fix for it scheduled for next week. I'm sorry that we can't fix it sooner, but it requires a scheduled update and full QA pass to fix this particular problem. Apologies for the hassle. For now you can still log in by not using remember me.

For me the problem isn't logging in. It's just that I can't access the forums without first opening a page on the main site. Once I do that I can open a forum page without the error coming up. And I'm still logged in on the forums once I can actually get the page open.

Paulon: That is the same problem we have all described. On a new browesr launch, jump links into the forums don't work until we hit the wizards.com site (anywhere).

Michelle: Thank you for the heads up. I understand the need for patches and fixes to be part of a scheduled roll-out or upgrade rather than applied ad hoc.

Actually you have seen them move on forum issues. Here you replied to a long list of issue many of which have been fixed. One of those was the lack of sblocks on the forums and currently have an sblock in your sig.

Here you posted in a thread that included the cutting off of names by the board, which has now been fixed.

Finally Your mileage May Vary is for subjective statements, but your's is objectively wrong. However, I would chop this up to confirmation bias rather than you being malicious.

I replied to 3 issues. None of which have been fixed. A work around was discovered for one issue, the rest haven't been touched...

You replied to three POSTS the last of which contained multiple issues several of which have been dealt with. I even gave you an example of one in my last post.

Woo, they fixed one issue. when I said they don't move I meant it more metaphoricly... As in they move so slow you wonder if they move at all...

I cannot really be sure if you actually meant literally or metaphorically; because short of my telepathy growing powerful enough to work over the internet, I can only go by what posters actually post.

Anyway you likely only seeing a few of the actual forum issues, so you are likely underestimating the speed of which they address them. Also they are unlikely to be interested in actually changing all the things that you want them to as well.
