I've got a mess on my hands - a mess of pages! I figure that I can't be the only one, but the binding on my PHB, bought day one of release in the boxed set, is completely toast and the other books are going.

If I'm treading old ground here and there's already a thread regarding this, please let me know. What I'm interested in is a replacement copy of the PHB, and was curious to know if other had the same problem and if Wizards already had a replacement system in place or what.

There were stories in the past of binding problems, but none recently. It may be a bit late to return to where you purchased now for replacement.

You may need WotC Customer Service.

Thanks.

Odd that WotC doesn't have a thread stating a return policy, but I guess it doesn't surprise me. I'll check the link.

BTW, the same thing happened to Mongoose with thier 1st edition of the Conan RPG and they had a thread locked right at the top of thier message boards concerning how to get a new copy...I'm just sayin'!

Now I have to have a completely different ID and password just to lodge my complaint! This is annoying...

Yeah it is a pretty stupid system.

I'm gonna give them a try, but I wouldn't return it to where I bought it anyway. It's not his fault that WotC did a crappy job binding this expensive book set. (lol)

Off to figure out how to register in order to file a complaint.

WEll CS might not be able to help, but could offer advice.

You would have to return it to where you bought it I think, and they would have to return it to WotC for credit, so the store shouldn't lose anything to my understanding.

Just remember that website for CS is NOT a part of WotC. It is some business in Montana. So WotC may be helping you on the website, but they do not control the servers there.

Well...that's just rediculous. A company that doesn't even handle it's own cust serve?

I think I'll just stick with 3.5 or Conan regardless, but even trying to give 4e a fair shake is proving to be one of the most frustrating undertakings that I've ever engaged in in terms of my RPG hobby.

Bunch o' bone heads running this show, if you ask me...

WotC does do it, but the website is with some company called Right Now Technologies in Montana. WotC can barely get these servers working, but I agree, they should not have another company running the website/servers for WotC customer service. That is one reason I refuse to use it. My personal information is not something I want sold between various companies, and I do not do business with Right Now Technologies for my D&D gaming, so they have no business with me at all.....

My binding fell apart too. I started noticing it about a week after purchase and now the pages are all starting to fall out.

Five member group, five books bought total, all books treated well

so far

1 Total binding failure book fell apart
1 Semi-binding failure book will soon fall apart

All with print-ink smudging

Peace,
Necro

Well if you haven't done so I suggest complaining to customer service. With enough feedback they may get to the source of the problem.

There were enough complaints when it first appeared, and ink smudges were blamed on gamers oily hands, and some other things were given for reasons of binding failure. They never really made any announcement about it or how to get replacements. Just take it back to the store you bought it, was the answer given.
