The community Management team has created a new initiative to help the community express their feedback and suggestions regarding the forums. With the large number of forums we have we wanted to implement a way for users to get their feedback to the CM team in an effective manner. Community management believes that the best source of information about a community comes from the community itself, and this program is designed with that principle in mind.

Forum leads do not have any moderation powers whatsoever. They do, however, have a direct voice to the WotC Community Management team. They are here to help represent your community. If you have any feedback or suggestions you'd like to see passed along, let them know!

Forum Lead Mission statement;
Forum leads work as advocates for the community, providing WotC with suggestions and ideas regarding their community, while also helping to provide guidance and help to all forum members, new and old.

If you want to know more about the Forum Lead program, or if you have any questions or concerns, please visit the VCL Open Discussion here and let us know.

The leads for this forum are: Seeker95, Webster

If you have any questions, requests, comments, concerns, post them here and we'll make sure the Community Management team knows about it.

Can you please explain why any of the deleted posts were off topic?

If you have any questions, requests, comments, concerns, about this board post them here and we'll make sure the Community Management team knows about it.

If it's about the leads themselves or the VCL program, then it goes over there.

(I have no idea what threads as I can't see deleted posts, so I hope this helps.)

Don't we all, technically, have a direct voice to the WoTC Community Management team?

Are you guys going to focus on the biases and inconsistencies that plaque the moderators here (as seen in several recent threads) or ...?

And will the "WotC Community Management team" actually listen to you, or will they say, 'well, that's nice ... the community thinks that we're listening, so that will keep their voices down and we'll have a nice scapegoat should some policy be deemed unacceptable by the masses' ?

Note: I am one of the recently appointed Forum Leads. However, all of the below is my own personal (mis-)understanding.
Don't we all, technically, have a direct voice to the WoTC Community Management team?

Not really. I don't mean that in a flippant way. I mean it in a process, procedure, and priority way. As individuals, we each speak solely for one and only one person. We can individually send PMs to anyone -- including individual members of the CM team. But any given message is treated as one-to-one communication. No one MC member has authority to respond to a message on behalf of the CM team. If the CM member does not feel it is a team-level issue, it likely goes nowhere. The Forum Leads are a filter that the CM team is likely to consider as having already evaluated the matter such that its presentation to the CM team is *inherently* a team-level issue. (The answer might still be "no", but it is a decision rather than a default at that point.)

Are you guys going to focus on the biases and inconsistencies that plaque the moderators here (as seen in several recent threads) ...?

Speaking only for myself, not initially. By that, I mean that the "biases and inconsistencies that plague the moderators" is already on the Team plate, as an issue involving all the Boards across the Boards. Because addressing that issue / concern is already in motion, I see no benefit from focusing any further on it. After the Team has addressed the issue and released its conclusions, examination of the outcome of that conclusion may warrant re-visiting it as a focus. Until then, it will serve no more benefit than calling 911 after the police are already in the front yard.

And will the "WotC Community Management team" actually listen to you, or will they say, 'well, that's nice ... the community thinks that we're listening, so that will keep their voices down and we'll have a nice scapegoat should some policy be deemed unacceptable by the masses' ?

This remains to be seen.

I would ask that the RPG Boards Business Forum regulars be patient. Not only are the Forum Leads a very new (and for some of us, surprise) feature, but also one that is in the process of being defined.

Further, the entire Boards administration is in transition. Some will demand that things be in place and perfect immediately. This is not possible. The WizOs are learning their new role(s). The CM Team is learning its role(s). The Forum Leads are not even that far. Some of us are still discovering that we *are* Forum Leads. All of us are still in the process of defining the roles, much less learning how to fulfill them.

If all of the above is unacceptable for any given individual, then a temporary Boards (or Boards Business Forum) vacation might be in order. This is not a threat -- it is a suggestion. I know I would be frustrated as all-get-out with the transition to Gleemax. Because of this, I stayed away from Gleemax -- for my sanity and for the safety of others who were more prepared for the chaos its initial launch was likely to engender. Last week, when a link for Forum Leads led me there, was the first time I visited a Gleemax community board.

We're all learning what this transition phase will involve. Including the general membership. I would ask that all of us try to make that learning process as friendly as possible.

The "if you don't like it, leave" mentality is so refreshing coming from someone who is a community lead. Must be nice to have a position you can abuse without fear of being reprimanded when us riff raff complain, eh?

Anyway, everyone has customizable filters and the option to avoid any board, thread, or topic they find objectionable. It's clear in Seeker95's post that he was suggesting people utilize personal discretion, not authoritatively banishing anyone.

Everyone posting here agreed to abide the social contract specified at registration. All Seeker95 is saying is that making that agreement is a choice and people who no longer support that agreement (for whatever reason) are free to do so; just not on the forum
